Matcha bowl

I had a great experience at Olomana studios. Our instructor was very friendly at helped us succeed in making our matcha bowls. I thought it was a very fun experience and I'm looking forward to seeing how my bowl will turn out.

I've been trying out different pottery studios in OC and this place is definitely in my top faves! The studio feels so homey and the workers are so kind. I did the 2 hour wheel and free build session. Our instructor was so patient and kind. I would love to come back here again. It'll take about 4 weeks to get your pieces but the finish is so worth it

What an amazing gem to the Irvine area. This pottery/ceramic studio opened 2 months ago in a historic area of irvine. I took the hand "sculpting" matcha bowl making class with a friend on friday night. The class we took was instructed by Eric who was attentive and a great teacher. The class roster was 8 people and the pace of the class was good. He outlined the course before we jumped in which helped me anticipate how I wanted to make my bowl. They also have a lot of other class options with wheel throwing

This was my first experience doing pottery, and I highly recommend it to anyone else just starting! It was very beginner friendly, and our instructor Emily helped teach techniques to use on the wheel and gave a bit of extra help shaping whenever needed. Olomana Studios is located in Old Towne Irvine, but once you enter, you're greeted by a studio you can tell the owners put a lot of effort into making a comfortable space. The studio itself was very cozy, with some nice jazz playing in the background while working on our ceramics. The session I was a part of was an hour and 30 minutes long, with 30 minutes being for on the wheel, another 30 for hands on clay, and the last 30 split between cleaning and some time to work on our hands on projects. Overall a great experience!

I took a matcha bowl class at the new location on Sand Canyon. The new space is so charming and cozy, a perfect spot for pottery studio. Christina and Eric were so nice and so knowledgeable. I've been doing ceramics on and off for 5 years and have never felt more welcome at a studio than here. It feels very inclusive and conducive to making art. I will definitely be signing up for a course or even a membership. I'm so glad this studio opened up, we've been in need of a new one in South County for a long time!

Booked one class for one wheel and one hand-built. The studio was quiet and there were only us. It was very peaceful and fun experience. The instructor Emily was very patient, attentive and let us went over time.:) Their choice of colors is of good aesthetic too. Recommend!

Had a really wonderful experience here at Olomana Studios! It's a beautiful studio & friendly environment. My friend & I did the "One-Time Pottery Wheel & Handbuilding Class". Our instructors were Sherry & Jess. They were both very patient, helpful & fun to learn from! Definitely will be coming back. :)

Wow! What a fun intro class to pottery. Jess and Shari were such great instructors and so patient with us. Would come back again!!

Lovely studio! Christina and Eric were so welcoming and helpful. My friends and I had the best time making two projects, one on the wheel and one hand molded. The class included all the supplies you need and also includes firing and staining. Highly recommend. Can't wait for the finished product!!

Christina and Eric are amazing! My boyfriend and I took the matcha ceramics class together and had such a great time. They're both so passionate and caring, you can really tell they love what they do. Hearing about their journey from learning pottery to starting this charming business was inspiring. I'd definitely come back to try their other classes too!

This is NOT for in-store experience. I mainly wanted to highlight that they have a take-home option…read morewhere you buy your ceramic for the price listed and the take home kit (I think it's $12?) which includes brushes and I believe 5 paints. We did this for our girl's day and while it can be initially more on the expensive side, we were able to paint at least 2-3 ceramics each. We did buy more paint than what was included in the take home kit because we wanted more colors, but if you plan your colors meticulously then the original amount you're given is more than enough to paint 1 ceramic each. The glazing is covered once you pay for the kit and ceramics and if you have leftover paint and want to go back to buy more ceramics, you don't need to pay extra for any of the glazing. I much prefer this than going in-store if you are doing a group activity. You can take your time painting and it's always nice to be able to do what you want in the comfort of your home. This is perfect for birthdays, girl's night or even just something to do with friends.

Sister and I each made plates, while my brother in law made a piggy bank. Staff was attentive, and we were able to get a table right away walking in on a Monday night. Still a decent amount of people in there for a weekday. Again, staff was attentive, especially when it came to refilling paints, as necessary. They kept everything organized and clean, and we will get to pick up our creations a week from painting. Hadn't been in years, but reminder it's a fun low key activity.

Definitely a new hobby unlocked. The owners are super sweet and friendly, and you can tell they take the effort to make the painting experience so much better. All of the staff are super fun and interactive! They always ask if we need anything and how we are doing. They also love to see what art you can create and overall make it a better experience. I highly recommend coming here instead of a chain because they have great selection of ceramics, paint, and music! It's such a vibe. Go grab a matcha next door at Vivot Cafe and paint your life away! I swear I was painting for 4 hours and they didn't mind as long as I finished my piece. I was very grateful to have the time to complete my birthday plate. The studio fee is $11 along with any ceramic you choose (price varies) and they also have a stamp card! On your 7th visit, you get the studio fee waved. It's great to know they appreciate those who come back! And I know I will definitely be coming back soon! Also, they do take reservations so that is very helpful as well. Overall 10/10 experience.

An overdue review based on the pottery wheel class and glazing option experience. For reservations,…read moreI made it for two people through their website. This was for a public class on a Saturday at around 4:30 PM. The class consisted of 8 people max and seemed to be all couples. All of the equipment was prepared like an apron, clay, pottery wheel, etc. We had an instructor that was very knowledgeable and explained everything from start to finish. Complex technicals were explained in layman's terms. We were given enough clay to create 3 pieces but could keep up to two. The instructor also frequently went around to check everyone's pieces and was able to troubleshoot as needed. It was a fun experience but be very prepared to get your hands dirty! The glazing portion was separate from the class. There was no reservation needed for that so I did it the same day that I went to see the ceramics. For parking, street parking could be hit or miss depending on the time. I'd recommend coming early to have ample time to find parking. Overall, I enjoyed the experience enough. It could have been perfect if the staff here remembered to follow up on when the ceramics were ready for pickup. I am happy with the end result though.

They couldn't find it under either. Jennifer, the owner messaged me on the side and offered studio credit for when we come back to glaze. I appreciate that offer since my bf and I had to and have to coordinate this date to come to the studio. I live around half an hour away and he lives over an hour away, which made it that much more disappointing when we drove all the ways last time only to be told it was lost. I messaged and asked to see if it was possible to have our pottery ready this time for when we came to glaze to prevent further mishap. They were kind and had our pottery ready for when we head back. I was happy with how our pottery turned out. It was with the red clay so it looked tan. Ashley helped us with the glazing. She gave us tips and instructions. They have a ton of different colors. They have a color section that's easier to work well and good with designs. There's also another set of colors that have some details and undertones. I picked four colors and hoped for the best. It's interesting because the more special glaze are all shades of gray, even when you paint it on. It's really is trusting the process. They put our pottery on the rack and told us it would be ready for pick up in 2-3 weeks. I'm hoping the pick up this time goes better! This glazing experience went well and I appreciate, Jennifer, the owner, reaching out personally and offering the studio credit.
