We put our number on a waitlist, you get texted when a table is ready, and browsed the selection they had. Sooooo many choices to choose from. The pottery items and sculptures are already made and you get to decorate them any way you'd like. The paint looks very different compared to after your art piece has been "cooked". No food/drinks allowed while painting because it could throw off the finishing. Limited spaces. Walk in welcome. No appointment needed as far as we were informed. read more

This was my first time here. When you walk in, it's light and bright and the employee tells you how it works - you pick out an item to paint and then pick out colors of paint you want to use- they bring the paint to you. Once you paint your item, you pay and leave it behind to be glazed then come back to pick it up. It was a lot of fun, can't wait to pick up my item! It was my first time at Color Me Mine and essentially you pick from a series of offered ceramics, paint them anyway you like (though I believe you are restricted to 5 colors), leave it to be fired in the kiln so the colors set in and come by to pick it up several days after. Your total price will be the cost of the item selected + the cost of paint time in the store. The adult pay time was $12 which I was unaware of prior as I assumed paint cost was included within the cost of the item itself. The item prices here, my friend who frequents Color Me Mine often noted are higher than at other Color Me Mine locations and we guessed this might be due to its location. My first experience since high school painting on ceramics! I had such a great experience especially with the workers there :) Each person pays a difference price depending on the ceramic they choose; the price is at the bottom of the pot. They range from $20-$40 from the ones I saw, but I assume bigger ones would be more expensive. Each person also has to pay for a $12 Studio Fee which includes a 2 hr experience, use of supplies, and the firing kiln. We were able to refill on the colors as much as we need by either letting a worker know or going to the station and getting it ourselves! After picking our ceramic, we write it on our board and the person picking up the ceramics will write their information on the clipboard. The ceramics should be ready in 3-5 days and they'll send a text to you! It will be held for up to 30 days. My friend and I were able to stay a bit longer than we did (maybe because it wasn't too busy) but we were finished in our own time and didn't feel rushed. Mon-Wed have special promotions so take advantage of it! read more

Went for a Thursday night happy hour and I highly recommend this out of all the events! There's little charcuterie snacks and a raffle. Overall, the studio fee is cheap ($12) and its more the items themselves that are expensive ($24 small planter/plate). You sit down, they go over the logistics with you and then you go choose your item. They give you a palate with colors, but you can get more! And refills are all conveniently numbered on a cart. They fire it in 3-4 days so it's actually really fast. For the paint, I would definitely stick with the no light over dark rule and dot on the paint thickly. Overall the atmosphere and staff here were great and quite relaxing so I would recommend here if you can afford it. read more

I've only heard about this place, but have never we actually done it. Shocking, I know! My friend and I decided to do something low key and we ended up here! The bigger items starting price is from $25 and up, depending on what piece you pick + studio fees, unless you go on their discount days. Upon entering, I noticed it was very quiet and felt calming even though there were a good amount of tables taken up by painters. It felt as if time kind of stopped the moment I was inside the store. It was nice to get away from the hustle and bustle and do some painting. It's nice to literally enjoy someone else's company, but in silence (lol). Color Me Mine is where you can choose from a large variety of ceramics and paint them yourself in their studio. Staff will fire it for you and then you can pick up the final ceramic in 4-6 days. This is definitely an ideal family-friendly activity or date idea. Location: This location is at the Metro Point, next to the DSW. It's a small outdoor mall but South Coast Plaza is right across the street. Parking can be found in the structure or there's outdoor parking. It's not too big inside, so if you have a large group, reservations can be made online. We were able to walk in without a reservation. On a weekday afternoon, it was a little crowded, but we were able to get a table without waiting too long. Lots of families with young kids were around but it surprisingly wasn't too loud. I was able to relax and enjoy myself while listening to the soft music playing. Painting Experience: The average cost of the ceramics seem to be around $22-25, with larger items costing much more. I chose a "geometric dish" for $23 to hold jewelry. Each person who paints will be charged a $12 studio fee on top of the cost of the ceramic. Weekly promotions are listed on the website (Ex. Wednesday is 1/2 off studio fee for kids). We were told we had 2 hours for the whole experience, but as it got less crowded, I noticed they weren't too strict about enforcing this. After choosing your ceramic piece, you can choose your paint colors. I like how there is no limit on how many colors you can choose. Tools like sponges, numerous brushes of varying sizes, and fine tip squeeze paint bottles are at your disposal. A tip is to remember to do at least three coats of paint. The staff were friendly, but I could tell were overwhelmed with the full house. They still did a great job helping us out with getting anything we needed. The manager (?) Cherie seemed very nice as well. Overall: We got a text notification that our ceramics were ready for pick up after just three days. The cost of two average sized ceramics and two painters came out to about $70 total, which is a pricey experience, but I think worth it every once in a while. read more

location & parking: this color me mine is located in a plaza with a nordstrom rack and jamba juice! there is a spacious parking structure with plenty of space to park selection of ceramics: they were alright. they had some classic items like mugs and plates, but also margarita glasses and trinket holders. some of us hoped to find the hello kitty items, but sadly they did not have them at this location. though, they do currently have some easter items out as well as a girl scouts collection as well. (feb 2023) each item we saw ranged from $20-$35, averaging at ~$27 per item. service: came on a sunday afternoon and waited 30 minutes for a table to clear for a party of 8. the staff were helpful in refilling our paint when we ran low as we were designing our pieces. vibes: the ambiance of this color me mine were quite wholesome and cozy, however there were the occasional excited baby or toddler. the location is quite small, but not in a bad way. note: our group was charged $12 per person ontop of the cost of our individual ceramics, and had a service fee and tip added on top. just a warning that this activity is quite expensive, especially if you go in a party. we ended up paying about $60 per person (insane!). SUPER FUN and wholesome, but this is definitely only a once in a while type of activity, especially in times of economic recession. overall: 4.5/5 stars based on the cost of everything and our experience as aforementioned (but i rounded up since there are no halves) read more

My experience at CMM couldn't have been better! I went with the intention of creating 2 dinner plates for my husband and my wedding anniversary. These were to replace the faded ones we had been using for the past 31 years. We received them in a gift bag at a gala celebrating the famous chef, Julia Childs' 90th birthday. The plates had "Merci Julia", along with her DOB stenciled on the them. With the wonderful help of the staff, I was able to paint plates to commemorate our wedding day, along with gratitude for many years together! I replaced Merci Julia! with Merci Kimi and Merci Berty Bon Anniversaire, January 5 , 2002. The plates came out beautifully and best of all, my husband loved them! My daughter and I came in to finish our projects we started last month. We came in right on time as they got really busy shortly after. This is a great experience for all ages, although older kids seem to stay more attentive and appreciate the time making their piece detailed and personal. Studio fees aren't too bad and you can get away with a smaller piece that's not too costly. The larger pieces will cost you plus you might not finish in the 2 hour limit (if they're busy) so you'll pay additional to come back in and finish at a later date.
