My 11 year old (Priscilla) has been taking art & clay classes for quite some time now, she has become more confident and has learned to express herself through paintings and clay/ceramic unique pieces she has accumulated to her private collection. Mrs Sher and August are very lovely/caring and wonderful human beings, i love my daughter to continue art as many kids have grown up with Mrs Sher and August i wish our daughter does the same, she has learned so much about art & clay and looks forward to her class each week to continue being creative as she keeps developing her fine motor skills and creativity!! I love taking the adult art class here! I've completed 2 paintings and 3 acrylic pieces with Sher so far. I've been an oil painter since I was a child. I am 27 years old, I'd say the class ranges from 17-70! There is about 10-ish people in the class. Each person works on their own piece- meaning she is NOT up in the front giving instructions while everyone paints the same dang thing. This is not the type of class. The classes are intimate, and very relaxed. She has everything you need to start your first masterpiece. Really, you don't need to bring a thing! You can choose any medium in the adult class- oil, acrylic, watercolor, pastel, ceramics, and probably even more. It's is SUCH a great place for a beginner, because you can try all the different mediums until you find one right for you, with no investment in supplies! This is rare. Sher really is a wonderful woman. She is as hands on or hands off as you need. If you need her to sit by you and walk you through every step, she's there. If you want to do you own thing she'll stop by with once or twice with encouragement and her two cents! Most students in the adult class have been going to her for years and doing their own thing, so she's always able to give extra attention to newbies. She is very chatty, it seems like everyone in the class is old friends. She has great stories to tell. I'm a bit quieter while I'm painting, but I do not find the chatter among the class distracting at all. Even though I've painted most my life, i was a bit nervous coming into a new studio- NO NEED! This is the most relaxed, kind group of people I've found. No artsy egos, no judgment, no pressure. Lastly, her children's classes and art camps seem to be super popular. Some of the parents are now in the adult class because they were jealous of how much fun the kids were having. How cool is that! read more

I wanted an art class for my 15 year old that would be a place for her to have thoughtful instruction and a peaceful place to go outside our house and explore her creativity. Unfortunately, the owner and teacher of this studio filled the classes with conspiracy theories and misguided paranoia about masks and vaccines containing poison and her general love for trump. It was unprofessional, sad, and not appreciated. I hate it that my daughter was forced to be subjected to this kind of negatively charged environment when we were looking for peace and creativity. :( read more

I have been taking classes with Sher for over three years now- and honestly the best decision I have ever made was to take classes with her. Sher, along with her husband August, truly understands art as well as how to work with people. Everyone is set on a similar- yet personalized course through art so that they can learn at there own pace. After my three years with her my artistic ability has grown vastly. With Sher even 9 year olds are completing high level surrealism and realism oil pieces and more. I've been coming to Sher's since I was 8 years old and I am now about to graduate college - Sher and August are the most genuine, kind people I know and they are like family to me. They teach pottery (hand building and ceramics), drawing and painting, and give great little art history lessons at the beginning of classes. I co-taught classes there during the Art Camps in the summer and Sher is one of the reasons why I got into my college of choice, because she helps with resume and portfolio building as well as art internship networking. I have been taking classes here since I was only in 3rd grade... maybe younger. Anyways, I have learned so much from my time here. Just two years ago I moved from the children's class to the adult's class and it's been fantastic. I have made human sized heads out of clay, an Aquaman sculpture, vases, pastels, oil paintings, even a little bit of charcoal on occasions. Sher's art studio is a true gem. My kids started out years ago in summer art camps and ended up going to the studio year round. From oil painting to clay sculptures to mixed media - it was a fabulous experience for them. Now I go to adult classes with my daughter! Sher has all the clay and glazes to create beautiful pottery, and all the painting materials you need including oils, acrylics and pastes, to create fantastic art. And Sher is a fabulous instructor. Everyone works on their own project. It's not like those other places where you all walk away with the same painting. read more

I am an old guy taking the adult classes for over three years now. I got started because both of my kids (18 and 22 now) have been going to Sher's since they were 6.
