He greeted me right away and walked me through the menu when I told him it was my first time. I went with the small meat (LMAO SMALL MEAT) sampler platter (name's escaping me) with mac & cheese and house chips. The platter included brisket, pulled pork, sausage, and three smoked wings--at $32, not exactly cheap, so it had to be either incredible or abundant. Fortunately, it was both. Every meat was juicy--something too many barbecue spots mess up by letting their meats dry out in the holding cabinet. My favorite? Probably the smoked wings, but everything was genuinely excellent. Somehow, the sides were just as impressive as the meats. Great mac & cheese isn't uncommon, but great house potato chips? That's rare. I've had way more bad ones than good ones--even at upscale restaurants--but the guy at the counter sold me on them, and he was absolutely right. The chips were sublime. Every single one was perfectly fried. I'd rank them just behind the legendary barbecue chips Jim 'N Nick's (in Georgia) used to serve. I love this place and will think of it first anytime I want a treat-yo-self kind of meal.

They have a large selection and almost everything is home made. We were greeted promptly and welcomed with a friendly smile by the cashier. We ordered ribs and a side of pork. We were disappointed with the ribs . It was the end cut and they were overcooked and dry. Very disappointing compared to prior photos I have seen. The nightlight of the visit was the cobbler. It was wonderful. Served warm with a scoop of ice cream. We would return and hope for a better serving of ribs.

I got a 1/2 lb of pulled pork in hot vinegar sauce with Cole slaw on top and a side of mac and cheese. Man it was delicious. So smoky. The slaw was tangy and tasty. The Mac and cheese reminded me of Kraft Macaroni and Cheese in appearance but oh my the flavor was nothing you can get from a box. :-) The total meal was around $10! The dining room is spread out across 2 rooms so not too noisy. All windows so very bright. Highly recommend this Greenville institution!

Order at the counter and they hand it to you and you take it to the table. No table service. Now for the food. Four pulled pork plates and a 1/2 chicken plate. I had one of the pulled pork plates with cucumbers salad and their sweet potato crunch. For those that don't know I am a bbq snob. We have smoked many a pound of pork. This pork was ok. It was however chopped which does change the taste. Also it was a bit dry and had gristle. I had several large pieces of gristle on my plate but the others did not. Could be due to I was the last one. The sauces were a yellow and a ketchup based. Actually mixed them and found them to be good. I usually do not like the mustard sauce. Mixed it worked well. The cucumber salad was very good and was given in abundance. The sweet potato crunch also surprised me and was delicious also. Now the sweet tea was absolutely naughty. Wow it was so good. Over all not a bad meal. Bbqing for a large operation is tough and my old school way would not make production so I have to take that into account. Typical old school BBQ joint with long tables and order at the counter. You will leave smelling smoky no doubt. Plenty of parking except right at the rush.
