I come here once a year when I visit the south, and the buffet food has stayed pretty consistent! Order at the front, find a seat, and get a plate. My partner loves the wings, so we always try to come on a Tuesday when they're the special. The ribs are my favorite, but they were a little less good this last time around. Three huge pieces---I obviously had leftovers with green beans and sweet potato crunch---the best part of the meal. The chicken was done perfectly with lots of crunch and it was moist. The meat options on the day I visited included ribs, fried chicken, and meatloaf. The meatloaf was good, and the ribs were large, moist, and flavorful, but the highlight was definitely the fried chicken. It was crunchy, well-seasoned, and delicious. The desserts were also great, with choices ranging from peach cobbler to ice cream - plenty of options for both adults and kids. So much promise and so much potential.....oh well. Drove by and was impressed with the exterior. Checked reviews in Yelp and it has a 4 star rating so I went inside. Didn't realize this is a BUFFET. Cost is only $13.50 and includes a drink and dessert so I gave them a chance. Lots of options to choose from and I ate 3 plates of food so I tried A LOT! Inside is really cute. This is a log cabin and they have a shelf near the ceiling and a train track runs around the perimeter of the restaurant. Server was very friendly and keep the tables clean. However the food was just AVERAGE AT BEST. BBQ meats were OVER COOKED and even though the restaurant had only been open a couple hours they seemed to have been sitting in the heat lamps too long. Mac & cheese had no flavor as well as the green beans, ribs had hard spots and were pretty small, hush puppies were so hard Some hurt my teeth, and puddings seemed like instant pudding. My new spot! I've driven by this place a lot and wondered why it's always packed during dinner. For $16 it's AYCE with a ton of choices. The fried chicken was incredible and the one sparerib I had was super tender. The fried okra, sweet potato casserole, cobbler, and mac & cheese were all very good. Didn't really care for the chopped BBQ or pulled chicken; too dry imo. Greens weren't very flavorful so that was disappointing. When you visit the Carolinas you have to eat bbq daily. My husband and son-in-law went crazy over the BBQ buffet at Mutts. Everything they tried was great. What a hidden gem of a southern bbq buffet! The ribs,pulled pork are amazing. The Brunswick store is very good. Plenty of choices of vegetables cooked in so many ways. Difficult decision of what to try, there's just no way you can try everything. Being a senior citizen, all-you-can-eat buffets just are not that appealing. The restaurant is rustic but overall, appeared neat and orderly. I found the food to be good, but nothing stood out as memorable. They serve you on Styrofoam plates with plastic silverware. My ribs were tender but rather tasteless. The coleslaw was good as were the sweet potatoes and green bean casserole. For dessert I had lemon pie which was also good. The meal price includes your drink and dessert. There were several desserts to choose from. Mutt's is an overall good value when including the drink and dessert. The server did check on us a couple of times and did get me a refill. The food was so flavorless and bland. Just lacking in every way. They served you on styrofoam which makes clean up easy. It's a typical buffet bbq style restaurant. They have extra seating in the back to accommodate a lot of people. It's a buffet style restaurant but I believe you can order straight off the menu too. They also have great desserts too. My husband had been to the Mauldin location with his military buddies and raved about the food so we had ordered some pulled pork for my birthday to have at the house. It was absolutely delicious! A few months went by and we decided to all go out to the Greer location for dinner so I could get the full experience. We got a table and the waitress explained how it worked and we were off to fill our plates. I'm not sure if the glove policy is a Covid aftermath or has always been a part of the process, but it was a little awkward and not something I cared for. The pulled pork was delicious, of course, and I enjoyed almost everything I tried. The only thing I really didn't care for was the macaroni salad. One of my oldest friends and I decided to have the lunch buffet here today. This is definitely old school BBQ and delicious! There is also an impressive number of side offerings including both perfectly prepared collards and fresh turnip greens! It's rare around here to find a choice of greens on any buffet! The shredded pork BBQ comes unsauced with the flavoring left up to the customer. I chose the mustard which was a really good match to the pork. The ribs here are 100% fall off the bone tender. I did deduct one star because the ribs were very, very, greasy and not very smoky! In fact I couldn't detect any smoke flavor at all! Oven cooked maybe? The high light of this luncheon was the beef hash. It was absolutely amazing! The hash had the right texture with the correct and familiar pepper after bite associated with it! I've had Mutt's BBQ before. Before my retirement my last employer would treat us occasionally! I remember their catered ribs and pork BBQ had a detectable smoke scent and not like what was offered on the buffet! Still; all things considered 14.00 dollars is more than reasonable for a meal of any kind these days! So I'm originally from AZ where I really never ate bbq, but since moving here my boyfriend had me try mutts and I loved the pulled pork with mustard vinegar, in fact I crave mutts almost weekly. We had always done togo orders just because of our schedules, but I had been wanting to try the buffet for forever.. well today was the day! I tried a bit of everything but what stood out the most was the fried chicken, I'm not normally a fried chicken type of person but I read one of the reviews on here saying it was incredible.. they weren't lying. The breading has so much flavor, it was the right amount of crispy, it was to die for. My boyfriend claims it's probably the best fried chicken he's ever had, and he loves his fried chicken. I am blown away and truly sad by how bad this place was... I was born and raised in the south and I am actually embarrassed to say I've had way better barbecue in New England. Honestly this may be the worst I've ever had. How do they have 3.8 stars?! The Mac n cheese was okay and the coleslaw was half decent and chicken tenders weren't bad and seemed fresh. The greens were canned, potatoes were instant, hush puppies were a boxed mix. The pulled pork and chicken tasted boiled. The fried chicken was tasteless. I'm willing to bet this place was great at one time but they got lazy and serve canned and instant food on styrofoam plates because they just don't care anymore.
