This is a small family owned BBQ business. As you approached the front door the lingering smell of smoked bbq filled the air. What a wonderful start. They have a large selection and almost everything is home made. We were greeted promptly and welcomed with a friendly smile by the cashier. We ordered ribs and a side of pork. We were disappointed with the ribs . It was the end cut and they were overcooked and dry. Very disappointing compared to prior photos I have seen. The nightlight of the visit was the cobbler. As a California transplant I don't try to pretend to be a BBQ expert. BUT as a former Chef, I do appreciate the time and effort that's put in to the dishes one prepares. That's why Game Day will be seeing me again and again. Unlike most BBQ joints with the focus being on the meat and little attention given to much else, Game Day is thoughtful about everything. Beginning to end. We were told that they make as many dishes in house as possible. Right down to the Oreo Banana Pudding (which I did not try, we'll make that an excuse to go back). He said no instant pudding mix here. As someone who has created made plenty of custards. I admire this. I had the Pulled Pork Plate with my sides being Collard Greens, Potato Salad, Pork Crackins. If you know anything about me, you know I'm a sucker for house made pork cracklins! The pulled pork was delicious, served naked just like I like it. Why smother it in sauce when you can have the sauce on the side. And you can try ALL the sauces that way . The Collard Greens were out of this world. The perfect blend of sweet heat and a hint of vinegar. Potato Salad was legit. Not trying to pretend to be fancy or complex but just good classic potato salad. The owner offered me some vinegar sauce for my Crackins and wow, the combination of the crispy still popping hot pork rind and the vinegar sauce was over the top. He was right. Everything tasted homemade and fresh and they were telling us what things were very honest very friendly people. This is one of my every time I visit South Carolina. I will eat their places. I was looking for a place to eat when I saw the three letters that always brighten my day: BBQ. That's all it took--I had to try Game Day BBQ. The guy at the counter was fantastic. He greeted me right away and walked me through the menu when I told him it was my first time. I went with the small meat (LMAO SMALL MEAT) sampler platter (name's escaping me) with mac & cheese and house chips. The platter included brisket, pulled pork, sausage, and three smoked wings--at $32, not exactly cheap, so it had to be either incredible or abundant. Fortunately, it was both. Every meat was juicy--something too many barbecue spots mess up by letting their meats dry out in the holding cabinet. My favorite? Probably the smoked wings, but everything was genuinely excellent. Somehow, the sides were just as impressive as the meats. Great mac & cheese isn't uncommon, but great house potato chips? That's rare. I've had way more bad ones than good ones--even at upscale restaurants--but the guy at the counter sold me on them, and he was absolutely right. The chips were sublime. Every single one was perfectly fried. I'd rank them just behind the legendary barbecue chips Jim 'N Nick's (in Georgia) used to serve. I found Game Day a few years ago. Up till now, I told everyone, that brought up the subject of BBQ, that Game Day has the best brisket I've ever had. And that NO ONE in the area even compares. Sadly, I can't make that claim anymore. The last three times I went there, I have been very disappointed. Two of the last three times, I was given brisket that was cut into 1--1.5 inch thick slices (I'm not exaggerating). The majority of which ended up in the trash, both times. Have you ever tried to eat brisket that's too thick. It takes you half the day to chew it. Just kidding, but you get the point. This last time (6/20/2025), I ordered two pounds of brisket (I always order at least 2 lbs) and specified that it be cut into 1/4" slices (which they did, for the most part) and a half rack of ribs. I ate 3 slices of the brisket and had to throw the rest away. The little bit I was able to eat was SOOOO freaking good, juicy and tender (obviously cut closer to the center portion of the brisket. The rest (at least a pound and a half) obviously came from the tip and was SO dry, it was virtually inedible. I was kinda confused how a few slices could be so juicy and tender and the rest be so dry and tough. I thought it came from the same slab, but maybe it came from two different brisket. I don't know. Because, similar to what I said at the start, I can't emphasize enough how good their brisket is, when it's done right. But, the key is, to do it right. Now for the ribs: The flavor was better than average (maybe 3.5 out of 5 stars). I've had better, and, I had worse. The big problem was the tenderness, or, the lack there of (maybe 2 stars). I literally had to rip the meat off of the bone. It was obviously taken off the smoker way too early. I ate one rib and threw the rest in the trash. Now I really hate to say it, but this may be the last time I go back. We all know how expensive BBQ is these days, which I don't mind, if it's worth it. But, it's just not worth it when I have to throw away the majority of what I'm given. Good luck to the rest of you. read more

Good bbq restaurant with some great options and a few not so great. The good: the pulled pork was moist and flavorful, the bbq sauces were good, they had some creative but delicious plates like the Cuba, and the Augusta bride. The baked beans were on par with some of the best I've ever had. The Bad: the potato salad was fairly plain the brisket was partially burnt. The ugly: the Mac n cheese. Seriously, it reminded me of "gasp" the crappy macaroni that I swore off of when I moved from the northeast and discovered real (southern) Mac n cheese. Come on bbq restaurant in the south. You can do better than that! The service was great and after some initial issues with the website, the staff worked to make things better. The atmosphere was definitely sports and there were a couple of TVs to enjoy sports on while you eat. Overall, four stars, cause while there were definitely some great options I just can't justify a 5 star review of a bbq restaurant that had macaroni on par with ponderosa. read more

We arrived around 4:30pm on a Thursday. There were no other customers at this time. The entire establishment looked very well kept. The menu is written in large letters behind the cashier. I decided to try the basic chopped bbq plate with sides because I feel like it's a good basic to start with at any BBQ joint. Chopped BBQ- The flavor of the meat on it's own was very good. The meat was lean. Often times bbq can have a bit much fat that ends up on the corner of your plate. That was not the case here. The rub was not as salty as some other BBQs but the smoke certainly came through. I definitely wanted to put some sauce on it though. I really like sauce and it needed a bit to moisten it. Hot Sauce- It tasted a bit like ketchup with hot sauce in it. Mustard sauce- It was vinegary and at a small amount of heat. It was not very sweet. I preferred this to the Hot Sauce. The owner told us that they smoke the 60 lbs of brisket for 16 hours to be served only on Friday and Saturday. Sweet potato crunch- This side was very sweet. It had walnuts which added texture. Likely had some vanilla which almost gave it a creamy quality to me. It was quite smooth. Smoked chicken- The owner kindly gave us an extra amount of smoked chicken after talking to us for a couple moments. The chicken was extremely tender and moist. You could definitely taste the smoke. The skin had a sweet and savory smokey rub on it. I would recommend giving this place a try! read more

So sometimes by chance you can find a hidden gem. If you don't like to read much, this place is awesome, just go and enjoy! Full story: I was driving north on a long trip and stopped for gas. It was next to a Mexican restaurant but I usually like to eat the local style food so I searched for places around and there were a few options, but a few miles away i saw this place, Game Day BBQ, and the chalkboard style menu in one of the photos reminded me a great place I go to close to home (Fink's in Dumont, NJ) so I decided to drive a few more minutes and check it out. I'm so happy I did. The staff was so nice, the place was unassuming yet very inviting, and the food was just excellent. If nothing else, go for the brisket. Flavorful with a bit of a kick, melts in your mouth and a generous portion. Both sides that I had (collard greens and baked beans) were so good, beans had pork chunks in them (my guess pork belly) and greens had melt-in-your-mouth beef pieces, both seasoned to a "can't stop eating" level. Ribs were excellent and I had to stop myself from finishing it all, so I can take some with me for an evening snack. I found out they opened only seven weeks ago and I was surprised as they have their act together, and it is so good... I used to come to this restaurant under the previous owners years ago and have fond memories of the food and the location. The current staff/owners were super friendly. We ordered three different meats and three different sides. The meat did not have much of a smoked taste and was dry and stringy. The sides were ok, the potato salad was overwhelmed with the flavor of dill pickle, and the fries looked like they were cooked twice and yet they were still served cold. As much as I wanted to recreate a fond memory of this place, the food just doesn't warrant another visit. read more

The owners are suuuper helpful and friendly when it came to describing the menu. Everything they make is homemade and the meat is cooked over wood fire and it makes a huge difference with the taste of their bbq. I got the bbq sandwich, fried okra, and banana puddin. Soo good. I was apprehensive when I first saw them on the delivery list, because I had never seen the location. We were really craving BBQ, though, and had just moved to the area, so we went for it. Boy were we glad we did! Ordering off of their menu in Doordash was simple, and they have all the basics you'd expect, plus a couple sweet additions like cobbler and banana pudding! The pricing is spot on for the quality as well. Nice place, nice people, new place for me as I travel Florida to eastern Canada the whole east coast. I love BBQ and have eaten at more than 100+ places. Many over and over again. Been smoking myself since 1995. Not a champ but make good BBQ and know the difference. Guy I was with had a pork sandwich and greens. Loved it and the pork had flavor and was moist. I went with a 1/2 chicken, potato salad and greens. Was very surprised they did not offer a 2 or 3 meat plate. About 80% of the places I have gone to offer or will make one up for you, not here as they have one mixed meat plate but dictate what you have to have and not cheap. So I went with 1/2 chicken. Just amazed at there was no smoke, look or taste of smoke, tasted boiled, bland. Skin 1/2 had no color to it at all, not cooked. Broke the leg off and was red, bloody. Stoped at that point. I did not take it back as the others I saw looked some what the same. The greens were spot on, potato salad was good also. I think maybe new trying to get it right but chicken needs to be done and NO pink inside, plus flavor, smoke as it is smoked meat. Maybe next time give a try, brisket looked good.
