Excellent bbq and slaw. Sandwiches had enough bbq for 2 and it was sooo tender and tasty. We will definitely be back. Pulled pork BBQ was $10 a pound!!! So good we ot some to go. Can't wait to come back!!!

The 2 meat combo, wish I had just tried the ribs. The sides are ok, nothing special

Horrible bbq. Never had South Carolina bbq before being from Oklahoma but I have to assume it's not usually this tough and fatty. The Carolina Gold sauce was good. Not going to miss this place.

2 times in 2 days and I'm an hour away!! Great stop on the easy to or from Table rock or Jones Gap state parks. Don't blink or you will miss it. I had big burly sandwich tried all the sauces and they rock. Okra and slaw are home made and mouthwatering!

My unofficial search for the best BBQ in SC stumbled across Burly Bill's on the way back thru Marietta and TR towards Greenville. It's a trailer (with a faded Yelp decal!), usually open only Fri-Sat-Sun, and the only seating is outside under a tent. But, "To Go" is the way to go, anyway. Lots of folks do pulled pork, very few do good Brisket. NONE I have tasted in SC do it any better than Burly Bill's. $17 a pound, and it was even on special for $15 for Memorial Day. This stop belongs on your BBQ bucket list! Make sure you ask for the Memphis homemade sauce.

Came across this BBQ stop while driving from Charlotte, NC to Clayton, GA and it did NOT disappoint. It was hands down the best BBQ we experienced while down south. The pulled pork and brisket was tender and full of flavor. The baked beans weren't too sweet and had a smokiness that really made them unique. Wish we lived by so we could swing by anytime!

Searched Yelp for good BBQ in the upstate. Wasn't sure how barbecue would be from a food truck/trailer, but was pleasantly surprised. Had the pulled pork sandwich platter with baked beans and fried okra. The pork was chunky (in a good way), the hot sauce that I chose wasn't particularly hot, but was tasty nonetheless. Sides were good as well. My partner is a vegetarian and surprisingly there were vegetarian options, as the sides don't have meat in them and are not fried in the same oil with meet. Bill is a nice fellow and we ate at the covered picnic tables out front. Overall the food quality was very good, and the experience very pleasurable. Would definitely recommend this place if your looking for good barbecue in a casual setting.

    Even our dogs loved it

Being vegetarian and eating at a BBQ place is normally an oxymoron, but this place had plenty for me to eat. Only place in South Carolina that I can eat fried food that hasn't been fried in the same oil as meat. The fried okra was great and not greasy or over battered.

We had passed it so many times and always wanted to stop in. We finally got to today and it was so much nicer and bigger inside than we had imagined! Very cute inside, the way they decorated, with nice wooden tables. Their food menu is bigger than I expected, and they make it from scratch. They have many sandwiches (even a Cuban, or carnitas! Impressive!), beef hot dog plates and toppings, BBQ, sides, wraps, soups and stews, a baked goods station, ice cream station, coffee station, and a gift shop connected next door. The man running the place-- I assume the owner of this family spot-- was so nice and cheery! He was so helpful and told us about the food he had. The younger girl working with him was nice too. You walk up to the counter and order, get your food and sit down, then pay when you leave. It was busy and seemed like the place to be! Our food was great! My son and I each got the 1 hot dog plate which comes w a choice of side. (They have 2 hot dog plates also). Many sides to choose from like roasted cabbage, Mac n cheese, slaw, collard greens, soup, chips, and many others. I topped my dog with ketchup, his mustard bbq sauce (so good!), sauerkraut, and cheese. Delicious! I tried the spicy vinegar slaw- delicious! My son loved his and the Mac n cheese too. My SO got the brisket sandwich w the mustard BBQ sauce (3 bbq sauces to choose from) and said it was delicious. I saw someone w the New Brunswick stew and it looked very good. All very affordable and good sized portions. The gift shop was cute too, w many locally made items, candies, candles, blankets, wreaths, honey, elderberry, mugs, toys, soaps, chapstick, etc. We will definitely be back to try more things, the next time we head to the mountains or on a hike. Worth the stop!

I got the Cubano sandwich (listed as a special). It was on a pressed/toasted sub roll and had ham, cheese, pulled pork bbq, spicy mustard, and pickles. It came with extra pickles and a bag of chips. I really liked the bbq and would definitely eat here again. Don't be fooled by the appearance. It looked a bit closed down/empty and had very few customers. I figured even if the food wasn't great and I like supporting local and unique spots. So I was pleasantly surprised with the quality and flavor. There's seating inside and some tables outside. They have a variety of coffee drinks and also serve ice cream. There aren't really any souvenirs- just a few local jams or honey I think and some bags of chips. I do wish they offered more local products for sale, like some art or jewelry would be perfect. I spoke with the owner who's also the builder of the place and he's been running this place for over 40 years. It's clean, well kept, and seems like a fun place to be when there are more than 5 people eating. Had the Cuban sandwich (Cubano, as they call it) and the pulled pork platter, and enjoyed them. Having lived in Tampa for too many years, we know what a Cuban sandwich should be and this one although not the best original we ever ate, definitely tops many average ones we've had in "real" Hispanic restaurants. Pulled pork was nice also. Friendly staff and ample parking. A nice find we'll go back to when walking the many trails in the neighboring state parks.

This place doesn't just serve food--they serve comfort, craftsmanship, and enough smoky goodness to make you wonder why you ever ate anywhere else. The star of my visit? The fried honey BBQ ribs. Good grief. These things should come with a warning label because once you take that first bite--crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, and coated in that sticky-sweet honey BBQ magic--you're officially ruined for all other ribs. They're the kind of ribs that make you pause mid-bite just to appreciate what's happening. Absolute perfection. The service was exceptional from the greeter that welcomed us when we walked in to our server (Paige). Everything else followed suit: hearty portions, rich smoky flavor throughout, and sides that taste like they came straight from someone's grandma's kitchen. The staff was friendly, the atmosphere cozy, and the whole experience felt like a hug delivered through barbecue. If you're looking for a place that feels authentic, delicious, and memorable, Haywood Smokehouse deserves a spot at the top of your list. Right away, the service stands out. We were greeted and immediately offered a sample of brisket, which set the tone. The staff were super friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful, and the ordering process has a really smooth, well thought out flow that keeps things moving without feeling rushed. We sat on the covered patio, which was clean, comfortable, and a great place to enjoy a meal. Now, the food. This is where it really shines. I'm a bit of a BBQ aficionado, so I'll be a little nitpicky, but none of this takes away from how great it was overall. The brisket was phenomenal. We tried both lean and fatty--both were excellent. If I had to critique anything, it leaned slightly salty, but the bark, smoke, and overall flavor were outstanding. The pulled pork was just as impressive. Tener, moist, and packed with flavor, with no wasted bits. The Texas sausage was incredibly flavorful, though slightly on the mealy side texturally. That said, the green chile cheddar sausage was an absolute standout. Loaded with flavor, chiles, and cheese. A must-order. The sides were the only area that didn't quite keep pace with the meats. The beans were a bit undercooked and lacking depth of flavor. The slaw was fresh and well-balanced, but not particularly memorable. The corn pudding was solid, but again, nothing that stood out. The sauces also deserve some recognition. All four were fantastic, each with its own unique profile. Honestly, I could've just sat there sampling them on their own. They paired perfectly with different meats and added another layer to the experience. Overall, this is an incredible BBQ spot. While it may not quite reach the level of some top tier Texas joints, it absolutely rivals them and stands out as one of the best you'll find outside of Texas.
