Yet, because it was only one minute after closing, the lady I believe was the manager refused to let me check out and said, "We closed 1 minute ago." Today is March 17, 2026, and this happened at 7:01 PM. I went to Job Lot just before closing and had a basket full of merchandise ready to purchase. At 7:01 PM, a lady who I assume was the manager came up to me and told me the store was closed. I politely asked if I could simply check out the items already in my cart, but she told me absolutely not because they had closed 1 minute earlier. If you review the security camera footage and timing, you will see that it was literally 7:01 PM. This Job Lot is only 2 minutes from my house, and I have been a loyal customer for many years. After the way I was treated today, I will no longer shop there. I also plan to share this experience with my friends, family, and Facebook community, because what happened was unprofessional, disrespectful, and very disappointing.

TIP: for those great imported specialty foods that I rave about at the Poughkeepsie location, turn around and head north on route nine for about 12 miles and do your shopping there. Fortunately, one of the three people standing at the open register managed to take enough time out of his berating and belittling another employee behind their back to the other two employees at the register, one ringing one doing absolutely nothing, to call up another cashier who managed to move slightly faster than a paraplegic sloth. Three employees...standing at a register...one barely ringing because she's so involved in the conversation, one doing nothing but participating in the gossip and a third who is apparently a floor supervisor, belittling the work of one of his employees to subordinates and in front of a line of customers. One of the most disgusting displays of poor retail training and service that I've seen in years. And I was a retail manager, trainer and HR person for decades.

Everything was sort of everywhere. This store had very random merchandise. The sections that were set up had some appliances that seemed like Amazon returns, other opened packages that were just very random. They had some clothes, bags, appliances, exercise equipment, water bottles plus other items. Now having been a VERY regular and long time Marshall's shopper I can assure you the on site manager I dealt with was demeaning and discourteous for reasons passing understanding. To be perfectly frank, I believe the purchase was outside the 30 day refund policy. For that reason alone, I was willing to take a lesser amount as a store credit. That said, the shift manager, I encountered, wouldn't engage at any level. She stated that returns at this high of an amount ($49.99), wouldn't normally be considered full stop. Having worked retail for over 30 years and engaged with this store for the last 5-8 yrs I can assure you, she had no reason to react in the manner I experienced. After reading your online reviews, it's obvious this policy and perhaps even your inventory system has changed. If so, I would encourage work arounds that address the lack of transparency and most assuredly revisiting the training opportunity of customer relations within this location. I will attempt to return elsewhere as I believe the return to be dated well beyond the 30 day window. Perhaps another location would prefer the repeat business. Please note, while you may feel justified regurgitating policy with little or no effort toward civility, and acting as if your customer has wronged you, will only serve to decrease your market share and eventually challenge your performance.

It's kind of like a Dollar store but in a fun and classy way. I find most of the items to be okay for the most part, although some look cheaply made. Most items you'll find have brands you've seen in other stores, and even ones you haven't seen. The pricing on some items may be an eye-catcher, but the decision is on you for the most part. Customer service could be better to draw happy ones back.
