Great ambience. Cocktails are great. Wine, scotch, whiskey lists are decent. Food options are limited but we have only been here for weekday happy hour from 5-7 or late night happy hour on a sunday till midnight. We tried the popcorn- good, grilled cheese sandwich with soup- great. I think we have tried the pate before but it was ok, not memorable. Stars are for excellent service by the staff, right volume and type of music for a classy bar, noise was average. People were dressed up or down- both fit in. Docked a star for lack of food options and slightly overpriced food options. I would have got more dishes if everything in HH menu wasnt 10$ avg. read more

Oliver's Twist - Entrance- good light in the evening. Great ambience - New American Near Me - Seattle, Washington

Kitschy, hip, busy tapas joint in Greenwood. The food is super good happy fun time. ;-) But if you're looking for quantity, go to a buffet and avoid this place. Good wines, beers and drinks. Great music. Nice neighborhood. Expensive. The truffle popcorn is deelish. read more

I love to grab a drink here! I love the French 75, but I can't drink it anymore due to dietary stuff. I had the Bullseye last weekend and it was great. You can't go wrong with any of the cocktails. The food is ok, but that's not why I go there :) read more

Based on a review in the Seattle Times, we tried this restaurant for the first time tonight. Wow! We had the chicken wings - they were absolutely fantastic, and the coconut chive dressing on the cabbage as a side is an inspired bit of brilliance! The whole meal, chicken bobun , pork bobun, the ahi spring roll and the wings was a thing of beauty. I also appreciated the service and the way they had things set up to deal with the Covid - very clean, quick and easy. Nice place! We will be going here much more often, and look forward to the day when we can sit and sample the awesome cocktail list read more

Great atmosphere, romantic, mood lighting, a window seat that opens to the street (which is super nice when the weather is prime). The cocktails are also great, though definitely priced as upscale craft cocktails. This is a perfect place for a date, assuming you can get a table, and they have a happy hour! read more

This place is a neighborhood and Seattle treasure. The food throughout covid has been top notch. Great options for both carnivores and vegetarians. The staff is friendly and you can tell they really care about the quality of food they put out. read more

While I definitely had too many French 75's with a girlfriend one night, I had a blast. You cannot go wrong by going here. We shared the grilled cheese sandwich and tomato soup and popcorn. Unfortunately, I dropped my wallet while on my way to an Uber and some nice stranger brought my wallet to the bar and I was able to pick it up the next day. read more

We picked up Oliver's Twist take-out Coconut Milk Pork and Pork Belly the other night, totally recommended. Karuna and his team are putting out some great food while we all wait to get back in and have one of their wonderful cocktails. Note, get your order in early, they have been selling out! read more

I love this place SO much...from the friendly staff and excellent drinks to the cozy atmosphere. The staff makes you feel right at home. Not only that, their requirement of masks and vaccination cards makes me feel safe and that they're doing their due diligence to ensure a safe atmosphere for all. Their blue cheese dates are unreal...I've been back 3 times this week that's how solid they are! If you're looking for a nice atmosphere, friendly people, yummy food and excellent cocktails I highly recommend this place! read more

Boneyard IPA in the house (and on tap!) This is a great little neighborhood bar in Phinney. Great hang out pre-dinner, and apparently they serve food here as well, although I can only vouch for their having terrific, hoppy Boneyard IPA on tap, cozy red light atmosphere, monkey neon lights in the windows, and a nice crowd. read more

Please sir, can I have some more!? Oliver's Twist is a fine place to go if you want to have a casual drink with a couple friends on a Saturday night. The bar was full, but not over packed. While there was a good buzz running through the place, it was still possible to carry on a conversation. Upon arrival, my friends and I started out standing at the bar, but were able to move to a table in the back about 15 minutes after arriving. The bar seems to be patroned largely by 30-somethings and up, with a disproportionately large number of women drinking with their female friends. The high prices likely drive the partiers and pick-up artists away. Cocktails start around $8 and beer ranges from $4 - $10, but there is no PBR or other keg-filler macrobrew here. The small beer selection features various imports and a couple local microbrews. The signature cocktails at Oliver's are all named after Dickens characters. A friend of mine with a penchant for Cynar (an artichoke based liquor) ordered a drink called, The Artful Dodger (a.k.a. Jack Dawkins, leader of the child pickpockets in Oliver Twist). The dodger had a pleasantly complex orange taste to it with layers of sweet and bitter, like looking in to an orphan's eyes. Whatever you do, do not visit this bar with the intention of eating. The food portions are tiny and the prices are huge! We ordered the garlic truffled popcorn, which came in a bag that was comparable in size to a child-sized popcorn at your average cineplex, but at $4 was probably even pricier than movie theater fare. The salami plate we purchased to accompany the popcorn was equally small and even more costly, maybe 5 oz of meat for $10! Granted, the food was tasty, but the amount left my belly hungry... like an orphan. I give this place three stars plus one bonus star for unintentionally choosing a name that is fitting on so many levels... because orphans are funny... and they taste like hope. read more

Oh, I love! And everything on the cocktail and tapas menu is fantastic. My girls and I lounged at one of the tables in the back of the bar with pillows and cushions as we tasted blue cheese-bacon stuffed dates with almonds, garlic truffle popcorn, meat plate with salami, and the warm castelvetrano olives. We finished off with the chocolate gelato with peanut butter caramel sauce and sea salt....um....that put us into a coma. Soooo good! To drink, I had the Miss Nancy with gin, rhubarb-tarragon syrup, lemon, blood orange bitters and bubbly. It was so good and so perfect, so I had two! I also recommend, the tomato cappuccino with grilled cheese sandwich and another dessert favorite is the grilled chocolate-marshmallow brioche sandwich. Always good, always busy, and always happy when I go to Oliver's Twist! read more

Such a sweet place. We haven't been able to make it there since restaurants have reopened (we live on the Involuntary Island, West Seattle), but our take out was delicious, fresh, and magically flavored. We had the Bai Kroeung Sach Mouan, a bowl of saucy, savory chicken served with rice and pickled veg. We also had the veggie egg rolls, which were delightful. We were treated kindly amd warmly. We also love the community involvement of Karuna & co: support of BLM, the LGBTQIA community, and migrant workers. read more

I cannot believe that I haven't yet written a review for Oliver's Twist. Srsly? This is one of my favorite spots in Seattle. It's cozy. It belongs on a list for good date spots, sexy date spots, excellent tapas, sexy places to get together with the girls, and whathaveyous. You canNOT go wrong with their grilled cheese and tomato soup cappuccino--it's perfection. The truffle popcorn? A+! Olives? YUM. Honestly, I haven't had an Oliver's Twist dish or drink that I didn't like. I've been here a bunch of times and tried a hearty variety of their drinks, and I was happy with each one, every time. GO HERE. Snuggle with your date in the corner, or go drink and gossip with your girlfriends. The seating is super comfy, the staff is outstandingly friendly. I love this place so much, I would marry it if I could. I'm just sayin'. read more

Oliver's Twist opened my discerning palate towards the undiscovered pleasures of art known as cocktail drinking. I would say I am still young in my alcohol drinking career, usually ordering a vodka "blank" whenever I go out. This small tapas bar, which looks like a hole in the wall, is a hidden gem in Phinney Ridge that provides playful "Twists" on standard favorite and creative inventions playful upon the Charles Dickens' classic novel. I had the Maylie cocktail, which had all the deliciate balance of sweet and savory, with woodsy underlying tastes thanks to the rosemary. I was in heaven. I feel very sophisticated whenever I come here. Don't come if you have a big appetitie, as its not great on large portions. They specialize in tapas and boy are they tasty! Like similar eariler reviews, their "gourmet" tomato cappucino paired with the grilled cheese is definitely worth the $8. This is not your ordinary Velvettla on wonder bread and Cambell's condensed soup, people. I'm a popcorn lover and their truffle popped popcorn sent me into a heaven I am going to need to discover again. Its worth the trip to enjoy a few cocktails in an intimate, comfortable setting. Can actually get loud with good company, but not "Bar" loud. I encourage you to check it out, especially bring an out of towner who wants something unique that Seattle has to offer. read more

MESSAGE TO HOT DOG CART GUYS: i'd suggest parking your dog-mobiles outside of this joint, because everyone will come out of oliver's twist still hungry. despite the brutally cutesy name, i've stepped in this place a couple times. the drinks are reasonably priced and pretty good (although you've gotta go outta yer way to screw up a dirty vodka martini), and i actually like the overall atmosphere. my hang-up is with the menu. i'm not opposed to small plates in general - it's just that there should be something on the small plates worth eating. the offerings here are so minimal that even if you split 3 or 4 of them - you still feel like you haven't eaten a thing. watermelon carpaccio? yeah...a few thin slices of watermelon with some goat cheese on top. and everything else on the menu seems to consist of a few pieces of salami and a couple bread sticks. i'm not sure that they even have a kitchen - that might be part of the problem. overall - it's a nice change of pace for phinney - where the bulk of the bars are pretty sucktastic...but don't go looking to eat. at least until the hot dog guys stake there claim. read more

New Years Eve! We sat in what was dubbed the VIP. Lounge. We had a waitress that was so darn cute I want to party with her again. We noshed on grilled cheese and tomato soup with a side of fingerling potatoes. We drank champagne and a host of other delicious concoctions. There was a DJ. We danced. We laughed. My sides still hurt. The ambiance was spot on. Loved the bathroom and the couch in the back with all the pillows. To all the peeps who partied elsewhere... save the drama for your mama! read more

LOVE this bar - my favorite happy hour spot. The Oliver's Twist drinks are interesting and good. The French 75 is my favorite, a cold blend of.gin, lemon, sugar, and cava. Also, the Bartender's Fancy is a fun option for non-drinkers and DD's. The atmosphere of this bar is terrific - filled with candles, good music, and comfortable seating. All of the food I have tried is great, but I tend to stick with the ultrayummy grilled cheese and tomato cappuccino. The one thing that I wish they would axe is the garlic truffled popcorn: it is delicious but it is impossible to leave the bar without reeking of it. Leave your jacket in the car. read more

Such a nice little bar. We dropped by on a Monday night after an M's loss and drank our sorrows---aieee! ;) The mixologist (thanks Julie B!) / bartender's rule here. It was totally worth the almost hour commute in the downpour to get here! I was greeted with a funky and inviting spot to share in excellent libations and incredible tasties as well as great company! My table pals had a line up of beautiful plates centered on the table of which my favorite was the warm castelvetrano olives. They were meaty and simply seasoned. Don't underestimate the warm factor either! The salumi salami was also a wonderful party of flavor for one's mouth. You literally tasted something new with each bite. Then, because I have a love affair with beets, however rarely get the opportunity to embibe as the hubster does not share my appreciation, I had to order the golden beet carpaccio. This was an amazing explosion of everything wonderful. The sweetness of the Beets with the spicy of the Arugula the smoothness of the chevre topped with aged Balsamic and a wonderful salt spiced with guanciale lended an almost bacon smokiness to the finish. Simply amazing! They have an excellent wine and beer selection but I had to give one of their craft cocktails a try and went with the Maylie, a combination of vodka, lemon, pernot and orange bitters with a spike of rosemary. This was the perfect antidote to my evening and definately washed away the pains of my commute! The service here was excellent, warm, efficient and welcoming. They encourage you to take the time to enjoy your company and conversation and never did we feel rushed even after we payed our bill. I will certainly be back to enjoy all that is Oliver's Twist and look forward to the follies to come! read more

Recently came here for HH and drinks. I always walk by but never got a chance to really enjoy it till recently. I met a friend for after work HH and it was easy to grab a seat and the staff was attentive right off the bat. The pâté is the main attraction for me. Oh my god was it delicious. The truffle popcorn was good. Wish they used a bit more truffle oil, but still it was good. A drink menu full of classic staples and inspired concoctions rounds out the menu. I dug it. Overall. I'd come back again after a hard day's work. 4 please-sir-may-I-'ave-su'more stars out of 5 read more

Well this was my first time here and I loved it! Great service, unique cocktails and yummy popcorn! We went there for the last hour of their happy hour which is every day from 4-6. They offer discounts on house cocktails as well as their food. As soon as we sat down there were menus already at the table so we could immediately figure out what we want rather than waiting for someone to give them to us. Their menu was not overwhelming and easy to go through. I got the maylie cocktail to begin with and it was so yummy!! It had lemon, vodka and rosemary in it and it tasted lovely. Not too strong and not too sweet, perfect combination. I then ordered the bullseye I think? It had tequila in it. I usually don't like tequila based drinks unless its a margarita but this one had just enough hint of tequila that made it a delicious drink. Each cocktail was about $7 I think? They cocktails were $2 off and the food was $1 off for their happy hour. We each ended up spending about $20 including the tip. Not a bad happy hour at all! I will be back to get more of the truffle popcorn that was OH so scrumptious. It was salty, sweet and decadent. I loved it and it was only $3.50. Definitely going back to this place! It was very modern and classy, a place to go with your boyfriend or to catch up with a friend. Can't wait to go back! read more

What can I say about this lovely little spot. First off, the staff was very helpful and friendly, I liked how they were quick and helped me decide what drinks to try. I like it when people tell me what to do, I guess. I had a drink with something, something and absinthe and rosemary. I don't recall what the first 2 somethings were. But that drink...was.strong.and.delicious. It was so strong and delicious that I know I had a second drink but can't even begin to tell you what it was or what was in it. I guess this review is zero help. My friend had a stout beer that wasn't too bad. If you like stout beers. All in all, this place was an excellent little spot. Oh, and the girls bathroom was too cute. I know I keep talking about bathrooms in my reviews but it helps to know one wasn't lacking in that important factor, right? read more

I'm going there tonight! I'll write up a full review when I return, greased with liquor and good eats. 24 hours later... Well, Oliver's Twist is a needed establishment in a neighborhood of "growing amenities". (That's something I read here in a Yelp review..., it sounds like hydroponics to me.) The bar has flattering lighting, is larger than your average Seattle bar, and is tastefully decorated with kitsch and other beautiful things. I guess it used to be half of the antique store next door, the owners gutted it and gave it a facelift. I started off with the usual - Manhattan on the rocks, please! and it was just lovely. Little nibbles - creative pairings of lavender and tomato with chevre and crostinis, cappaciuno tomato soup with little grilled cheese sammiches, and other good savories. The list is small, but well executed. And EXPENSIVE. Oui! I like that there is something that is not of the norm on Phinney - that little stretch by stumbling goat and red mill has potential and appears to be fulfilling that. Although OT is kind of a neighborhood bar, and its beautiful and fun, I don't think it can replace my go-to bar. But I welcome it to the repertoire. You try it and see what you think. PS: I think that I've decided that when i give anything 3 stars, it means that I am conflicted about it. I don't love it nor do I hate it. Star rating could change in the future. read more

Came here for a friend's birthday get-together and had a great time. Luckily, we were able to score the area in the front by the window which was a corner that could fit about ten people if we squished the chairs and tables together. Although we were quite the party, I would assume this place is a little more intimate and made for maybe smaller groups or dates because of the way seating was arranged. The art is amazing here. If my mind ever wandered away from a conversation, I could easily be distracted by the paintings that they have here. Not to mention, I immediately recognized some Justin Hillgrove paintings! As far as food goes, my favorites of the night must have been the garlic truffled popcorn and duck fat roasted fingerling potatoes. They rocked my socks off! However, don't expect to come out of here stuffed. I mean, I guess you could buy multiple plates of the food they serve, but it will rack up quick. I believe this place was meant to be a place to sip on a drink or snack on something small, but the main reason you'd be here is to hang out or carry an entertaining conversation with someone while being in a comfortable laid-back atmosphere. So, you know, if you don't want to creep that first-date of yours out by inviting them to your apartment, and rather take them somewhere decent and give them some fancy food and cocktails, this is a great place to go! read more

I want to like this place, I really do (after all, I live down the street!). 1 1/2 stars. First time we went, we had good enough cocktails, they specialize in novelty cocktails, which I like, and they aren't overly pricey. However, the place was dead and the acoustics were still pretty awful. Not sure that I loved our male waiter, he seemed a little "too cool for school." Please note, this is Phinney Ridge, not Capitol Hill. Second time I went at 12:45pm on a Friday night, they were closing. It wasn't even 1am. Ok....? Third time I went, it was packed (it was St Patty's weekend) and the music was SO LOUD that I could NOT hear my friend, sitting across from the tiny table. The music got progressively louder, three more times that night. Again, the acoustics are already bad at this place, so when the bartender is bored and wants to blare music, it becomes not fun for the patrons. Bad acoustics to begin + really awful LOUD 90s rap = see you later, I'm outta here. Did I mention that our waitress, again, had kind of a crappy attitude?? Meh, I don't get it. I don't see myself going back here -- it's too bad, because I think it's a cute spot, and the cocktails seemed nice and thoughtfully made, but all the rest of it just really takes away from the fun. Sorry. read more

Oh, how I love the yuppification of Phinney Ridge--it's so cool to have tasty, fancy places within biking distance of home! Oliver's Twist is everything I want in a neighborhood spot. They have fantastic, inventive drinks (the "Artful Dodger" features Cynar, a sweetly bitter, oddly pleasing artichoke liqueur from Italy), they have delicious, entertaining snacks (truffled garlic popcorn! tomato cappuccino with cute grilled cheese sammich on the side!), and the interior is just luxe enough but still allows you to feel comfortable in jeans. The service is friendly and hip and prompt and good-natured. You can tell the servers all dig the place, too. And best of all, my aging hipster friends? It's a restaurant that *feels* like a bar (not unlike Chupacabra across the street), so you can bring your kiddos! I'm not gonna call it kid-friendly, but if you want cocktails and snacks without paying for a sitter, you can do it. The chef has a fancy pedigree, including Carmelita and the Dahlia Lounge, and it shows in the interesting but not absurd tidbits on the menu. Hurry up! Go check it out! And be careful not to knock over my bike on the way in! read more

The drinks are all delicious, and all the food I've tried is very yummy, too! I especially love the French 75, the duck-fat-fried potatoes, the sauteed kale, the non-alcoholic Blood Orange Fizz (because the cocktails pack a punch, and I really can't have more than one, if I'm driving). This place is cozy and romantic if it's not too crowded, but when it's crowded it's very loud. On warm days, they open up the front, so it's light and airy. The last time I was there was a dreary, wet and cold night, and Oliver's Twist was a sweet respite. read more

Scrumptious. Why has it taken me so long to try Oliver's Twist? Maybe it's because it looks tiny and packed when I walk past the window? Turns out it's got plenty of room inside. The menu is small but the choices are tight. We ordered almost everything (A. doesn't like anchovies, so we skipped the pizette, and who needs a salad on a night of tapas?) and were pleased with most. The fingerling potatoes with some sort of sauce - aoili - were soft and buttery. The bacon and blue cheese stuffed dates rocked, though I'm not sure about the tomato stuff they're served over. Warm bright green olives were bountiful, prosciutto on sinfully greasy toast was...sinful. The kale was kind of boring and a bit overly garlicky. The truffle popcorn was tasty but nothing out of this world (try Elemental for that). Grilled cheese was sharp but tomato "capuccino" was unexciting. Um. What am I forgetting? Chocolate gelato + peanutbutter sauce = heaven. S'mores sandwich, eh -- the bread is too bready, not sweet enough. Overall, though, we devoured the things that were good, my cocktail was perfect and I loved the space -- so surprisingly posh! read more

Where has this food been all of my life! I recently discovered Cambodian takeout at Oliver's Twist. The food is unique from other Asian cuisines as the spices just hit differently. Good drinks, but the food is lacking. Tiny plates are fine, if they're good. Unique menu does not equal satisfaction. Out of the 6 plates that our group ordered, we like 3 of them. However, the strong drinks made us forget about the subpar food. read more

Lovely neighborhood place. Highly recommended! Thanks for doing your part in keeping the community safe with your precautions.

Oliver's Twist is hands-down our favorite bar in Seattle. The cocktails are amazing, the owner and staff are amazing (and have continued to do nothing but innovate during the pandemic), and the truffle popcorn is so amazing that four years later my parents still ask if they've managed to package it so it can be shipped across the country. Now, they have drawn a line in the sand by asking patrons to be vaccinated - knowing that it might be polarizing and might cost them some business, but also knowing that it keeps their staff and other patrons safe. Cheers for always keeping people at the center of your business Karuna, and we can't wait to come for a cocktail soon! read more
