The best bakery in town, and my favorite Kringle. It is small and almost slightly hidden, but it's simply the best. It has been a Kenosha staple and landmark for 70 years. There is a lot of Kringle competition due to the area, but Oliver's is my favorite. We've been getting Kringle from here for years because it's that good. I recommend this place to anyone who asks about donuts and Kringle who are unfamiliar with the area and feel overwhelmed by options. Obviously all the locals already know Oliver's is the best. They open at 5:30am and there is usually a decent amount of people coming in early to get baked goods. This is the preferred choice to get quality donuts to bring to the office and the best place to order Kringle and cakes for special occasions. Everything here is fresh and clearly looks individually made. Other businesses in the area appear to sell cookie cutter manufactured Kringle despite being well known for Kringle. Oliver's hasn't been replicated into several locations so you're getting homemade, fresh, and quality. I would recommend calling ahead and ordering to ensure you get what you want. People come here early and like I said, Oliver's is well known to the locals. The staff is very friendly, service is efficient. Ordered a custom cake and cheesecake for my boyfriends Army retirement and birthday party. Both were delicious... However, I was pretty disappointed because the cake was supposed to be raspberry AND custard, but they left out the custard. I am not a fan of ordering things, paying for them and it being wrong but not finding out until after the fact. Not much you can do when you get the cake because you can't cut into it to make sure it is right. It is not until after you tell everyone how excited you are to try it and then cut into it and find out it is wrong. I was especially disappointed because it was recommended by the person I ordered the cake with. Doing things right the first time are usually a good way to get and keep customers.... read more

I compared their kringle to the other large competitor in town, Piaelli's. There was no comparison, Oliver's was way better. Bigger, better pastry, more filling. I also had their pie, muffins, cookies, Danish, Apple fritter, and donuts. Everything was fresh and moist and flavorful. I have yet to try the daily/ savory breads, but it's the only bakery I plan on going to when in Kenosha. read more

Used to love this pace when I was a kid, but I feel like their quality has gone down. We went for nation Donut Day, and there were not very many options. We got 2 long johns and a cyclops. All the donuts were very dry and 1 of my long johns didn't have any custard in it. Pretty disappointing. HOWEVER I will say that their custom cakes are very good. I used to work down the road from Oliver's (at Leblanc on 30th Avenue) and was close enough to make frequent trips to Oliver's. They are definitely the best bakery in town! My favorite has always been the mud pies, which are to die for. I stopped by today looking for a mud pie and ended up taking home a box of different doughnuts and pastries. Stopped by for a crueler and a cyclops to eat on our way to Madison this Saturday morning. Expected better and disappointed with both items. The cyclops was soggy and the crueler tasted more like a long donut with a small amount of glaze that never set properly. Today Kwik Trip bakery items would have been a much better choice. read more

When I was a kid we used to go to roosevelt elementary school, and every morning we stopped in and got a cookie for a dime or a doughnut for a quarter..in the winter we would stop by just to warm up and the lovley ladies would slide us a fresh,hot cookie! Awesome, very good Kringles. We took a caramel apple and a blueberry cheese. The latter we took dropped off with a friend who works at the Milwaukee Police Dept. I hope they enjoyed it, I really really wanted to try it because it looked so good. They had so many different flavors that I could not decide. I wanted to try them all. The caramel apple was amazing too. We also got a cyclops, a donut with some cream on top. Not a fan of the cream, tasted very artificial, but the donut was nice and fresh. I used a groupon so this was an amazing deal. Well worth the pitstop on our drive up from Chicago to Milwaukee. read more

I have ordered 2 birthday cakes from Olivers in the last couple months. The first one I ordered was chocolate, but they gave me a Danish layer - surprise! Mystery cake! I just let it go because my family still enjoyed the cake, although I didn't. I then ordered another cake for my older daughter's 2 months later and they spelled her name wrong!!!! It was correct on the tag but not the cake. Grrrr! So I called them on Monday and the lady on the phone didn't seem to sympathetic. She took my name and number and I haven't heard back. I paid around $50 dollars for both cakes which is not cheap. I expected more. I would not recommend. read more

I love love love these donuts. I only live a couple blocks away which in it by itself is dangerous because every piece of yumminess I have bought here always makes me wish I've bought more but I have successful turned my Co-workers in IL to Oliver Fans. Once a month I bring donuts always from Oliver's and they always deliver from the apple fritters to those awesome Cyclops... SOOO good! Disappointed is the best word that I can use. I was expecting a much higher quality of cake and service from the other reviews and I found this not to be the case. Both cakes that I ordered were dry and had a cheap, canned filling not the fresh that I was promised when the order was placed. The clerk had some difficulty locating the cakes and did his best to give me the impression that I was imposing on him by showing up to collect my order. I can't in good conscience recommend Oliver's at all. It may have once been great but as it stands right now some serious work is needed to restore the shine to this bakery. read more

This review is for our experience purchasing a cake 5/26/21 - This may have been a one off as this was my first experience with them. Our elderly friend has been getting a cake from Oliver's every year for many years for her birthday. I called to order a strawberry cake with custard filling and whip cream frosting. From years past, I can say this is a very good cake. When I called, the gentleman insisted on a very specific time we would pick up the cake. He stated that he will not prepare it early because he wants it to be as fresh as possible.... OK, sounds like they are conscientious. I really wanted it at 10 am but said 9 just to be sure. My wife actually was late due to traffic/construction. She showed up at 9:20. The owner was busy talking and taking pictures with friends. She saw my wife but never acknowledged her. My wife knew it was the owner because she had plenty of time to read the newspaper articles on the countertops and saw it was her. When someone did finally come out, he couldn't find the cake in the cooler. He pulled the order from the rack on the wall and said "it will be a while" .... Obviously, it was not made. They couldn't even put the box together fully, stapling the lid ¾ of the way closed. With a custard filling, the cake should be chilled to "firm up". It was apparent that this was not done because the cake had fallen apart by the time it got to it's destination (11:00). On top of that, the frosting wasn't whip cream. We don't know if that was a mistake on the builder or the order taker. If our friend hadn't been getting such good cakes for many years, we would have said this place is terrible.... We would never go back if this was our only experience with them.... So again, this was (hopefully) a one-off. Oh, BTW... they charge extra to use a credit card so bring cash if you can.... read more

Ordered our wedding cakes from them 2 months before the wedding. 3 days before the wedding they notified my coordinator ( not me) that they wouldn't be making one of the cakes we ordered bc the decorator didn't "like it that way" When I called to see what was going on the woman on phone( who was very nice) truthfully told me that they were having problems with everyone at bakery communicating. I was also now not scheduled for wedding day delivery and they wouldn't be using stands they agreed to months ago. Mind you...I had paid them in full! They did end up making cakes, not to order, and delivering them but I was told they were very rude. I have been a customer for years and have always recommended them. NEVER again!!! read more

I really wanted to like Oliver's Bakery. Years ago, at a party, I had a piece of their cake and thought it was delicious. So when my mother's 90th birthday arrived this year, I decided to get the cake from Oliver's. I was very disappointed (not to mention embarrassed). It was dry and lacked flavor. Didn't plan to go there ever again, but then last week my daughter chose to get an Oliver's cake with whip cream frosting for her birthday so I thought I'd give it one more shot. The white cake was dry and tasteless. Even the whip cream frosting lacked something. But both times the cake was dry, dense and tasteless. Perhaps the other products are good but not the cake. Maybe there is a new baker, or they are using cheaper products, I don't know. But I won't be back. read more

#1 bakery in Kenosha, I've tried donuts and danish from every bakery in Kenosha and by far Olivers has the best They are never skimpy on the filling for the Bismarks and long johns. All though I would like to see a white frosted Bismark. Their danish torte cakes can't be beat. We have bought all our birthday cakes from there for over 20 years. read more
