CJs donuts are a staple in our area and the donuts are simply some of the best around. They have several flavors both cake and fluffy. My favorite are the long John, crullers and chocolate filled. The donut display is very nice and the donut flavors are clearly legible. As with everything else there has been price increases and a dozen donuts are now around, if not over, $20. That's a lot even if they are delicious. The shop is small with limited seating. They also offer coffee and other drinks as well as I e cream. The service has always been wonderful and I simply cannot complain. They seem to know the whole town. That really does make a difference. Most certainly worth stopping in and checking out. read more

Stopped here to get a couple dozen of these gems for work staff. In my opinion, one of the top five doughnut shops in southeastern Wisconsin. Puts Dunkin and Krispy Kreem to shame! I could never eat another establishment's doughnut again ... they are absolutely the best. You can tell that they are all handmade. They are the most delectable donuts that you will ever eat. Stopped in around 9:15am on Friday, May 23rd. Business was not busy and was greeted (if you wanna call it that) by a very irritable worker. By greeted I mean, my bestie and I were asked "how many donuts we wanted and what donuts we wanted immediately." Nothing like welcome in or how can I help you today. Just felt very unwelcome and rushed to say the least. I got one double chocolate cake donut and one marble raised donut. All I know is I wanted this transaction done as FAST as possible and wanted out of there quickly. We were from out of state, visiting family, and excited to try somewhere new they've never been, but I will NOT be returning due to poor customer service experience. Donuts were okay. Nothing special. The best donut was the apple cider donut my bestie got. The donut shop appeared to have tables to enjoy your goodies and conversation. Smelt good in there. You order right when you walk in, but I suggest you know exactly what you want to order as soon as you walk in because as soon as you walk in, the donut drill Sargent behind the counter wants you in and out; she's NOT messing around. My gosh, just not a pleasant experience for me. I come to a bakery feeling happy and want to leave even happier as I have yummy baked goods and this was very disappointing because I love supporting local, especially when I'm not from the area. Been going to cj's for a very long time. Went this morning 08/31 and got a dozen for my out of town family visiting. As soon as my nephew bit into it, there was a hair in between the donut! Do the bakers not wear hair nets!? Maybe a new employee who got distracted and didn't wear his? Needless to say my nephew was completely disgusted!. CJ's is a long time classic of Zion. My wife grew up here and has many memories of their donuts. They have good coffee also, and have friendly employees when you go in, and a large selection of donuts to choose from. My go to is a honey dipped or a glazed cinnamon roll with a dark roast coffee, black. They recently remodeled the seating area and have lots of windows and bar-style chairs so you can sit at the windows and watch the cars drive down Sheridan Road, but they also have normal tables and chairs if you prefer. read more

Been going here for years, both with the current management, who are supposed to be the original owners, and also with the previous management/owners. Here's what we've experienced... The donuts are now microscopic. The prices are NOT. Also, to add insult to injury, there is a new person working the counter who needs to take a deep breath, put down her fifth coffee, and take a valium. She's unfriendly, militant, and impatient. It's bad enough the donuts are now about the size of an Oreo cookie, but $11 for half a dozen, and with a 'Donut NAZI', to boot. There used to be a line, always, every time. Then management changed: prices went, donuts went down. Now it's empty. You'd think the original managers/owners would know what they were doing, but they're running this 'business' into the ground. read more

We came in an hour before closing. Wasn't much selection left (which is a good sign - they sell out of most of their donuts every day). But the service left a little to be desired. I felt like we were a burden to the lady working there - she'd rather we not have come in. We got a few donuts - they were okay - definitely a little more bready or cakey and less sweet than I am used to. But the service kind of put me off. It may have been a bad day - I love small businesses. If you're grabbing a dozen to go - check it out. Though there was a nice area to sit and do work, I just felt like maybe coming in an hour before closing wasn't the best decision for us. We'll see if we come back. read more

So let me tell you, this place is weird. It used to be a Dunkin' Donuts decades ago, but when the franchise requirements demanded a remodel and re-signage, the owner decided to drop the franchise. But the donuts remained outstanding. Really the best in the county. I used to drive 25 minutes to get to this location before. I don't know much about the coffee because I mostly come for the donuts, but they are better than any national chain. Super fresh, terrific selection, and excellent quality and large size product. Just thinking about them makes me want to go there. Don't mind the age of the facility. It looks a little rundown, but it's kept clean and all the equipment is properly serviced and cleaned. read more

They are charging Chicago prices for regular basic Boring donuts. When I asked why they doubled their price in the last couple years they said INFLATION. Yet when I go to o brothers their prices have only gone up a few cents. Stop using the inflation excuse, your average donuts should have average prices. For this price you are better off taking a train to Chicago and going to a high end donut shop with high end ingredients aka velhrona chocolate not their great value frosting. The shop has a quirky feel to it when you're used to the turn and burn places like DD, but you can't go wrong with a shop that has a more personal feel to it. The donuts here have a profound way of being crisp on the outside and soft and "cakey" feel to the inside. They have such amazing flavors and even some non-standard compilations. The coffees are great as well. I like my coffee black and it didn't have that bitter bite when it's made wrong. It was smooth and aromatic like I prefer it.
