I left Austin in 2020 and was shocked to find a Summermoon in Kenosha, WI of all places. The iconic moon milk drew me back in despite having to drive 40 mins to taste it. Big unexpected bonus? They have a drive through. It seems like an odd thing to glorify for a coffee shop that focuses on quality--but this was really a big plus for me at the time. I had a colicky baby in the car and the idea of getting him out of a car seat and back into it again made me not want to leave the house all that often. Being able to drive up to grab some delicious (non-Starbucks) coffee that reminded me of the good old days in Austin was such a huge mood booster. The moon milk sells itself. It's super sweet, so if you don't want it to be too sweet, I usually ask for 1/8 moon (1/4 is on the menu, and it's still too much for me). I do wish it was in a more convenient location. It definitely feels suburban and like it's just in a random strip, but I'm also not all that familiar with in Kenosha. Hooray for Summermoon in WI. Now I have a reason to make a pit stop on my way to Chicago. read more

The best coffee I've had in a long time. I got the iced cinnamon latte and it was fantastic. That said, I am celiac and got very very sick from that drink. Looking it up online I discovered it contains oat milk, which a good percentage of celiacs, including me, cross react to. The moon milk is a "proprietary blend" they say has no allergens, but oats, rye, and barley are not considered allergens, but are not tolerated by celiacs. No way to know what their secret ingredients are. My fault for not asking The in store menu did not indicate this had oat milk. I assumed it was just milk. read more

This is the closest coffee shop to my place and close to my son's school after drop-off. Their drive through is convenient and often why I end up here. My go to order is their veggie quiche, coffee cake and iced Blue Moon latte. On a recent trip I wanted to try something new and opted for their blended drink. I recommend their medium size option if you are getting an iced drink as they always get the coffee to milk ratio correct for me. My only complaint is their iced coffee drinks aren't always cold enough strangely (I have not experienced this with other coffee shops and I love iced coffee). A few times now I have ended up with lukewarm iced coffee with ice that's already halfway melted. I come here often and always hesitate for them to remake it due to this but it really takes away from my iced coffee experience. Due to the inconsistency I'm taking off two stars. I still recommend to try this shop but be prepared for a possible hit or miss experience with their iced beverages. read more

Visiting the area, we made a great choice stopping at this local coffee shop. First timer here, and I'm hooked on their sweet cream aka moon milk. I purchased some to go... twice! I highly recommend that in your cold brew or latte. Enjoyed some cold brews here both stops and tried both a Bavarian cream donut and a cinnamon roll. Now hear me out, I'm not a huge cinnamon roll guy, but the first bite made me understand why people love these things. I can confidently say this is the best cinnamon roll I've ever tasted. Do yourself a favor and try it out. When visiting the area I'll definitely want to make a stop for some moon milk coffee and a cinnamon roll. FYI they do a rewards system, but we weren't made aware of it until after our purchase. It was a bit disappointing that they were unable to provide points after the transaction. Would be nice for their staff in the future to promote this program before ringing in a transaction - especially because our order was $60+ with everything we purchased. read more

Stopped in on a recommendation, and was glad I did. This is a fantastic coffee shop, with a lot of room and even more character. Service was friendly and fast, and they were extremely helpful in answering all my questions. I had a seasonal drink, and it was phenomenal. On the outside, Summer Moon is not overstated. You'd never expect the cozy and inviting atmosphere inside. Which makes it feel like a well kept secret. This is a great spot to either grab a coffee and go, or grab a coffee and linger. A year later and still confirming I love Summer Moon's fresh roasted coffee. My go to drink is a quad moon shaker in a large cup with extra extra ice. (Typically has no ice) What some may not know is that they have gluten and dairy free pastries as well with a pretty decent selection. I love the pop tarts. read more

It was a beautiful sunny day when my girlfriends and I decided to get some coffee before church. I don't know if the service we received was racially motivated or if the cashier was in a particularly bad mood. However we were treated as outsiders when my friend, Linda, simply asked what their 'moon milk' was. We understood it was their signature, but were curious on what it entailed. We were met with rude service and didn't feel welcome. It was deeply uncomfortable to the point, we never placed an order and instead went to pray for the cashier. This place is definitely worth it! I will say I stumbled upon this place as a place to get work done and grab some coffee between shifts. I think this is a perfect place for that with plenty of charging options. I appreciate that their counter top seating also has chargers available. The service was also quite fast even while managing a packed drive thru. I also enjoyed their 1/4 moon coffee which is their own special sweat cream to my understanding at 1/4 strength. I tried the Crystal Lake location for the first time several months ago and loved it. For a cold day I opted for a hot 1/4 Summer Moon Latte, as I only wanted a touch of sweet. I think it was the perfect amount of sweetness. It was an absolutely delicious coffee and I drank it so fast I contemplated on ordering another to go. My friends all loved their drinks as well and we all purchased a Moon Milk for our at-home coffees. I also had to grab a few of their local packaged pastries from Rosie's Gluten Free Bakery (the Chocolate Whoopie Pie and Pop Tarts are always go-to's) and a Monster Cookie Oat Ball from the company Oatballs and it was SO good! Lastly the service was great. We interacted with a few of the baristas and they were all so kind. I will for sure always make sure to stop here for a coffee if I'm in the area. read more

After a trip to the beach in Kenosha, we decided to try a new (to us) coffee shop we had seen while driving there. Right after the beach we drove over to Summer Moon. The parking lot is in good shape and there's a decent amount of parking. Inside Summer Moon is spacious and well decorated. Plenty of tables, leather chairs, and a couple of leather couches. There's even a small room towards the back for those with kids, which included a small table and books for kids and bench seating and a low table for adults. I wasn't crazy about the artwork, but overall the interior was nice. Their schtick is Moon Milk, which seems to be cream mixed with flavoring. In fact, you could buy just a bottle of Moon Milk if you want. They also have some pastries and savory items like quiche. I initially ordered a full Summer Moon Latte, but once I saw the calories (nearly 900!), I switched to a 1/4 Summer Moon Latte (which contained less Moon Milk and thus fewer calories). My wife ordered the iced version of this drink, the 1/2 Winter Moon Latte, with a little more Moon Milk. Both drinks were pretty good, but I think the iced version tasted a little better, perhaps due to more Moon Milk and less skim milk. They also sell bags of whole beans and some swag. Service was decent and pricing was on par with other gourmet coffee shops, though not excessively high. read more

I was lucky enough to stumble upon Summer Moon coffee on my way back from Pleasant Prairie--and boy was I glad I did! It was quite a cute spot, with plenty of seating, brick walls, subway tile behind the coffee bar and even some Summer Moon merch available for purchase. They're known for their moon milk--which essentially is super thick, milkshake-tasting milk that they use in their lattes, mochas and even espresso shakes. The barista was kind enough to let me try a sample of moon milk before ordering a whole latte. In your lattes or mochas, you can ask for 1/4 moon milk and 3/4 regular milk, half and half, 3/4 moon milk and 1/4 regular or 100% moon milk. I thought that even 1/4 moon milk was decadent in my iced latte. I wish they had a Milwaukee location--I'd visit more often! read more

When traveling it's a given I want coffee, so maps brought us to Summer Moon Coffee. Such a cute cozy spot that reminded me of a cabin-ish vibe up north. I can't believe we've never been here before since I've been in the area multiple times. I'm glad we know about it now. Visit one, the gal working the cash register was SO nice and friendly. We let her know we are not from the area and first time here, she told use about their drinks and let us sample the moon milk. WOW that was tastyyyy! So yummyyyy I got a bottle for home. We also tried some other baked goods from local bakeries. The cinnamon roll was ABSOLUTELY delicious! The Bavarian cream was okay in my book. For coffee, I enjoyed the iced 1/2 moon latte.... It was nice and smooth with a strong coffee taste, yet the perfect balance of sweet. The second visit, I learned about the rewards program and I was very disappointed that I had a $60 purchase the day before and was never told about this, and when I brought it forward, I was told cannot apply that purchase. It just rubbed me the wrong way. As a first time customer, that's not what you want to hear and I was more disappointed because there was no offer to even try and fix it. Truthfully, I'm undecided if I'd return or not again just based on the customer service experience I received the second visit when inquired about my previous day purchase and the rewards. Yes, coffee is good, but the experience left me traveling back home with a bad taste in my mouth. Suggestion, automatically ask customers if they are apart of the rewards program and share the benefits of it, so they don't miss out on little perks.... Sitting in the shop, I've noticed it's quite popular with the local folks (based on the frequency of the orders). The Scones are also worth the visit. Cool spot to enjoy the specialty beverages from summer moon coffee. The space is large and modern looking with plenty of space to lounge around and plenty of furniture and art to make the experience more enjoyable. There's a good amount of items in the shop as well to take home including shirts, mugs, and beans. There is plenty of parking outside though the spaces directly outside of the shop are a little more limited. Service is quick, friendly, and efficient here even when they're busy. Though there are lots of interesting drink options here on the menu, you're probably here to try the moon milk. This is rich and delicious, similar to condensed milk for me and very creamy. I found the half moon to be more than sweet enough for my tastes and a great balance of bitterness, acidity, sweetness, and creaminess. To my surprise though, the frozen hot chocolate was an equally enjoyable drink and perfect on a warm day. Overall, worth a special stop if you're a coffee fan and like creamier beverages. We were in Kenosha at a vaccination clinic nearby for our dogg-o and wanted some coffee for the ride home. Since, as I mentioned, we had our dog, we were hoping for a spot with a drive-thru and happily found Summer Moon fit the bill. My coffee drinking companion got a frozen chai while I opted for a cinnamon latte. He loved his and mine was excellent. Just the right amount of cinnamon paired with smooth espresso. Also of note, I was able to get it with almond milk (which is the case at most places now, but not all). The service was friendly and efficient--we were in and out of the drive thru in no time. And, noticing our dog, they offered us a complimentary pup cup, which was much appreciated and enjoyed by Miss Scout. You could not believe my surprise when I overheard students in my nursing school talking about Summer Moon in Kenosha, WI. I asked them "Wait, is this the same Summer Moon that started in Austin, TX? With the moon milk??" And they said YES! You bet that I IMMEDIATELY left my class to get a latte. I lived in Austin from 2016-2019 and I had never had a better latte before trying Summer Moon and I hadn't had a better one after... I would think back on my Half Moon lattes as the ones that got away from my heart! They expanded to the Midwest with Kenosha as their first stop. Why Kenosha? No idea, but it's near my school so I'm not complaining. I recommend everyone go. It's unique and delicious, and a nice place to study or work for a little while. I had never heard of Summer Moon before (I didn't realize it was a chain), but I googled "Lavender Latte" to find the closest one near me and low and behold they have a Blue Moon Latte on their permanent menu - YAY! It does not disappoint. I accidentally missed the turn the first time I came here, because it's tucked away in a strip-mall-esque off of Green Bay Road right next to Carpet City Flooring Center. While it's SUPER cute inside - lots of people working or visiting at tables, couches, and counters, they also have a drive-thru if you are looking for a quick grab-and-go coffee fix. I am not a regular coffee drinker or a coffee snob by any means, but their wood-fired coffee and special Moon Milk (just their signature sweet cream blend with secret ingredients) are super satisfying. Not only was the coffee good but the hint of lavender made it even better. If you had lavender latte in the past, this was similar. Just recently discovered Summer Moon. I initially discovered this place at Kenosha as a meeting point for work for folks in WI and IL. The shop is big with tons of meeting tables. The baristas were super helpful in understanding the different lattes and options I got the blue moon latte with 3/4 moon milk( that's really sweet- just the way I like it) initially with spinach quiche and then took another 20 oz blue moon latte (1/2 milk) to go along with a chocolate raspberry cake. Boy, that day I had way too much coffee- but it was so good. It's a great place to chill with kids with games and coloring to occupy kiddos. I'm a coffee shop explorer and this is the one of best latte I have had especially since I will in the NW suburbs of IL. This is truely a gem! read more
