This is my favorite brunch when I'm back home. During the summer they serve strawberry rhubarb French toast, the brioche is filled with compote and custard, it's not too sweet and so delicate. Went for breakfast with my wife on our 45th Anniversary. In one and one half hours, we got a cup of coffee, and this is not an exaggeration. I talked to the waitress twice. The second time around was at the hour and a half mark. She came back and said, "I think they are just putting it down now." These things happen I know, but we got up and left telling the hostess what had happened. She said, "Sorry" Sorry? We are way past sorry. If she had said something a little more attuned to customer service, we would have gone back. Not happening. Not us, not our family, and not our friends. Bad business. read more

I read the comments about the rude service, although no one was rude to us, there were some servers that didn't seem happy to be there. Went out for breakfast and decided to go to the coffee pot. We were seated right away and service was fast. We got our Drinks right away and placed our order. I will say that my coffee cup did not go under half at anytime!! We got our food and was definitely hot to the last bite since it came off the flat top and to the table. I ordered the omnivore, wife ordered the two eggs, toast hash browns, and ham. Our. Kid ordered the biscuits and gravy w/ two eggs. All the food was hot and delicious. We definitely will go back! I heard nice things about The Coffee Pot. I found out most of what I heard was true. We arrived late in the morning and were more interested in lunch. I had the half pound hamburger with cheddar. The MRS went for a BLT. We weren't pressed to order quickly, difficult task with the menu size and seeing all of the other plates pass by. We didn't expect a hot dog stand speed turn around on getting or order either. The shelves of old nick knacks occupied us until the food arrived. Wait wasn't long either. We were both very impressed with the plating. While enjoying our meal, I got a whiff of something sweet n' cinnamon. There was a big tray of fresh rolls on the counter and it got to be too much to handle. We took one to split at home. Come again? Sure thing! I had just had knee surgery and was using a walker. This is a cute little diner nearly on Lake Michigan. It's great for a good home cooked breakfast. It is a favorite to go to in downtown Kenosha. We've tried a variety of dishes, omelets and pancakes. Everything has been good. No complaints really, but also, nothing that sticks out that makes this place any better than other favorites. It's a solid place for all breakfast foods and I believe they serve lunch as well. My favorite meal here was sitting at the counters in the back watching them prepare food. The cooks wow'ed me with their ability to quickly and efficiently prepare multiple meals on the same hot plate at the same time. If you're in the area, check out this place out. I ordered the Percolator, which is supposed to contain eggs, sausage, green pepper, onion, jalapenos, and shredded potato, all hashed together. I got a platter of potato with green pepper and onion. I saw tiny specs of egg, so I'm assuming an egg was added at some point. I certainly couldn't taste it. Sausage was nowhere in sight. I tasted jalapeno pepper in one bite, that was it. Breakfast art. Originally opened in the 1930s, the Coffee Pot has had different names, but remains at the original location serving the same delicious breakfast and lunch menu. Although they can be very busy on the weekends, the table turnover seems to go quickly and within minutes you'll be seated sipping fresh brewed coffee while pondering the lengthy and innovate menu. We went with something new and something traditional. The "Reuben Omelet" is just what is sounds like, a fluffy three egg omelet wrapped around corned beef, swiss cheese, sauerkraut, and even thousand island dressing if you want it. Or get it on the side for dipping. I went with ham and eggs, a thick slice of ham "off the bone" ( a think in these parts), a nice little char from the grill on it, two perfectly cooked eggs over easy, crispy breakfast potatoes and house-baked toast. The menu offers some old favorites and new dishes at lunch time. Fresh made sandwiches, juicy burgers, crisp salads and even a veggie plate. They're proud of their bloody marys and mimosas and have some craft beers and splits of wine on hand. The Coffee Pot has recently added a couple of "hotel" rooms upstairs, if you're inclined to explore the neighborhood for the weekend and have a couple great meals brought upstairs to you. Either the first experience here was off the charts outstanding or things have slid down hill...not sure, but I'm here a lot and can recognize huge degrees of variability in the experience and food. Super Meh trend... Service - when you get it, it's fine. Getting it is the hard part. Why? It's nearly impossible to figure who, when or where you need to check in with a host. There is no hostess station... crazy concept ... one stationary person managing patron and seating - I know crazy. If that catches on remember I invented it. The host may be a bartender, it could be wait staff, they could be bussing, they might be inside, they might be outside... who knows, but what they will always be is annoyed that EVERYONE is annoyed with them. This is such a total fail. Service, like the kind Tina, delivers, is awesome... others seem troubled, bothered or or just indifferent, not all but many. Food has been really inconsistent to include this morning. The chili... never the same, warm, sometimes hot. Scrambled eggs do not exist...they are merely the same as the omelet... just chopped up thin omelets... super dry! Ham steak, eggs, chili, consistent theme with food temp... appears cooked and hot but is warm at best. Super in consistent. Taken as whole, it's tougher and tougher to consider acceptable. read more

Found this breakfast spot on a whim. There was a little bit of a wait. This place had good reviews and I was curious about the bennies on the menu. I ordered the smoked salmon benedict, and was not disappointed. The poached eggs were on a delicious piece of bread, instead of the standard English muffin. The bread seemed homemade. Loved the hollandaise sauce and the dill and capers went together perfectly. We also tried the pecan tartlets with bacon and goat cheese. These were to die for. The coffee was decent as well. Needless to say, we were happy to stop here, even if it gets pretty loud inside. read more

We've gone to The Coffee Pot a few times, usually in the summer and we've sat outside. This past weekend we went inside and again we had a lovely experience. We were greeted by our server Arika (I hope I'm spelling her name correctly), she was so pleasant and friendly and has a beautiful smile. Then the food came and it was also delicious and well prepared. Arika came by to check on us and spoke a little Spanish and my husband who also speaks Spanish picked up on it and they started talking to each other. It was fun. She makes the place with her positive attitude and sunny disposition and the food is great too. They make their own bread and corned beef hash - so good! I had left-over hash and it was delicious on the reheat with eggs two days later. I'm already looking forward to my next visit! read more

The best pancakes ever! Also, there is a real mom and pop feel to the venue. The staff are fun and friendly, and the service is quick. The one down side, CASH ONLY! While I get the concept, get with the times please. Not many people carry cash anymore. And when I have to stop at the atm, before I come to your business, I just might not come. I lived in Kenosha for about 10 years and most of them were three blocks away on the same street and side but I never stopped by and what a shame because this is a pretty cool breakfast spot. The place is old school looking with black/white checker floors, tin ceilings and the old school lunch counter with the permanent round stools. 50s kitchen tables and chairs were a nice touch to finish off the look. The menu had a nice selection of breakfast with biscuits/gravy, duck bacon, Benny's, omelettes etc but the hand carved ham with eggs just sounded good. The breakfast came with three eggs, home made toast, hash browns and a nice looking piece of real ham. The plate looked pretty mangled was my first thought, WTF happened to my sunny side eggs and this is how there going to serve them to me, so much for presentation. I can't believe they screwed up my eggs and sent it over to me anyway. The home made toast was so freaking awesome with a tasty butter, my butter doesn't taste this good, dam good toast. Thick cut and dense, like the texture of good corn bread that is fresh. The ham was not cooked to death with a juicy sweet fresh flavor, not the smokey in your face kind. The hash browns were ok and nothing special. The service was not very attentive once the food came because the servers talk to all the regulars or each other but not horrible. Overall I like menu, I like the place, I like the food for the most part and I think it has great potential for great breakfast spot, I would stop back to try some more of the cool menu and update this review with a different experience. read more

I live in Michigan. Every time I come to Wisconsin to visit family, this place is a must stop! Always friendly. Always good food! Pretty much get the Veggie Benny and it's consistently fabulous! Today my husband got the banana chocolate chip French Toast. Had a bite and I almost wish I would have gotten the same. Almost. Look at this pic'o-yumminess! Never dissatisfied. This place is awful. Love the location and it is a cute quaint restaurant but the food is BAD. Ordered French toast on homemade bread and I could tell the bread was good, but it was waaay undercooked, the bread was HARD and want even warm in the middle - like they did a 2 second egg dip and slapped it on the griddle for a minute. Friend also had regular French toast and it was soggy and undercooked. They charged $4 for a tiny OJ that I literally saw them pour out of the Tropicana bottle. When I NICELY asked the cook to put the French toast back on the griddle, she had a crappy attitude and literally dumped it back in the grill with the same crappy attitude. Great little breakfast joint near the lakefront in Kenosha. The space has soo much artistic character inside and out. The griddle is just feet from diner style counter. When this place is busy it's like clowns trying to stuff a VW bug. I went with omnivore this visit, pretty much everything pig rolled inside thin egg blanket. It was tasty but I like a more balanced egg to meat ratio. The potatoes served on the side needed some help. Tasted very frozen. Very Sysco foods. Put some butter on them or throw some green pepper and onion....just give them some flavor. Very ehh! The homemade toast was the highlight. I could eat anything of of that bread. read more

My husband and I absolutely loved this place. The corned beef hash was probably the best we've had and the service was wonderful as well!!
