My husband I enjoy this establishment and have been several times. We've never had a bad meal here and the service has always been friendly and great! Food is always served piping hot, we love the pulled pork and usually get the XXL meal which includes your choice of two side and drink. We have purchased plastic cups where we bring with us each time and get a discount on our drinks. Portions of the meat are very generous, the sides other than fries are just about a cup. My husband enjoys the mac n cheese and the fresh (never frozen) fries are made when you order them. The dining room is always clean and there are a variety of 6 sauces to choose from on the tables. Seasonal sides are great too! We particularly enjoy the banana pudding and strawberry shortcake.m, although portions are small. Last time we were there, I tried the sweet corn and it wasn't great and had zero flavor. A rare miss in terms of food offerings. We also tried the bbq shrimp and the salmon, both are excellent. My wife and our grandsons have eaten here several times. Every time seems like better than the last. My wife's favorite entree is the salmon. It's always cooked to perfection. I have several favorites. One is their turkey. It's so tender that it literally melts in your mouth! Top it with one of their six signature BBQ sauces, and it's fabulous. I also love one of their off-the-menu items: the sauced burnt ends. Pair them with a side of collard greens, and you have a feast! One other thing I love about this restaurant is that they play the National Anthem every day at noon. Everyone in the store (including all of the staff) stands and is encouraged to sing along. I ordered the smoked cheeseburger medium well with baked cheesy potatoes and my wife ordered the turkey - darn good meal with Maggie's mac & cheese. The hamburger was excellent. Very cool place. Photos of Veterans, military, firefighters, police, honoring their service on the walls all around the restaurant. Very respectfully displayed. Food was great! We shared a two meat platter with brisket, pulled pork, mac and cheese, and cornbread. It was all fantastic! Brisket and pulled pork were both moist and flavorful. I like my bbq with no sauce. To me, that's telling how good the meat is. If you use sauce, you just covers up the taste of the meat. Now this is just my opinion. My wife on the other hand likes a little sauce. There are six different sauce options on the table. I didn't taste any of them. My wife liked the Smoky Mountain sauce. She said it was sweet with a hint of smoke. Really terrible experience. Brisket was awful and had too much fat. Cornbread was hard and tasted old. Fries were cold. Service was nonexistent, then somehow invasive. You order and pay at the counter then have to walk up again to pick up your food when it's ready. Then while eating and having an in depth conversation with my guest, was repeatedly interrupted by staff asking "if we needed anything?". Had to bite my tongue because of my guest but but should have responded...Yes we could have used a server to take our order and bring us our food at this overpriced, glorified fast food "restaurant". Food is good, but the portions are pitiful. I will never, ever again pay $16 for pulled chicken? I don't even think a child could eat that portion and not still feel hungry. Staff was great. I rarely post five star reviews, very rarely, but I don't see a way where this spot can really improve other than having more affordable meals. Food is phenomenal. Some of the customers from places where BBQ is more prominent in the USA may disagree, however, I think the flavors are great and the food is cooked wonderfully. Prices could be a bit more affordable but the attention they bring to the food makes it worthy IMHO. The waitstaff are wonderful and very customer friendly with a great attitude and completely professional. The restaurant is very clean and well kept there's a lot of parking and the restrooms are immaculate. I highly recommend this place and the walls are covered with mementos from military veterans which is a cool and unique twist. read more

I didn't know what the carb count was in all the 6 different sauces on the table so I skipped them. Hubby said they were ok. Now here was something special - their NC vinegar was da bomb! I am a HUGE BBQ fan, but I do not have the patience to do it myself. I have driven past Mission BBQ a few times, so I finally decided to do a take-out order to sample a bunch of stuff to see what they are all about. What I ordered: The pulled pork plate with a side of coleslaw and brisket baked beans - that plate also comes with complimentary corn bread. Honestly, not the best pulled pork I've ever had. I honestly prefer my own, but it may have been a little dry since it was take out as opposed to fresh. The cornbread is nothing too special, but good. Coleslaw was fine. The first bite of the baked beans was good, but there was far too much BBQ sauce and not nearly enough brisket in them. What my boyfriend ordered: MUCH BETTER. He got the pick 2 meats with the brisket (yummy) and the ribs (HOLY FALL OF THE BONE, MOIST, MAGICAL GOODNESS!) He also got the mac & cheese (did NOT disappoint) and the seasonal mashed potatoes (also a nice change of pace to the typical french fry option.) They also have their own BBQ sauces, and the to go order came with a little cup and stickers to describe their different sauces. In order of how good they were: 1. unlabeled, but their hot BBQ sauce - THE BEST. 2. Memphis Belle - couldn't really put a finger on it, but classic and delicious. 3. Tupelo Honey Hot - fun to have a sweet one in there that's balanced with the spiciness. 4. Smoky Mountain - not bad, but WAYYY to smoky - really only needed 1 drop, otherwise it's overwhelming. 5. Texas Twang - it's just A1 steak sauce flavored. Dessert: We also ordered their peach cobbler which I feel like is hard to find in the midwest, so it was a nice treat. Definitely met standards from times I've eaten peach cobbler in Atlanta, Georgia. There was enough food that we had leftovers. We decided to use our own fresh buns to make mixed meat sandwiches with BBQ sauce and coleslaw on top the next day, and they honestly were almost better that way and reheated/served piping hot! I went there twice, once for a brisket BBQ sandwich and the second time for a pulled pork BBQ sandwich. I lived in Texas for 20 years and North Carolina 9 years prior to that, and so am familiar with excellent examples of both styles of BBQ. The beef brisket BBQ just wasn't very good. I didn't expect it to be as good as what I'd had in Texas, but this one was mediocre by any standard; dry, a bit chewy, not very tasty. The pulled pork sandwich was advertised as North Carolina style but it was nothing of the sort. North Carolina style BBQ comes in two variants. What is called "eastern NC style" refers to a vinegar-based BBQ sauce that's clear and typically quite tangy. "Western NC style" is a tomato-based sauce, which is the default style you find throughout the South; it's what most people think of when they think of BBQ sauce, what folks typically put on ribs and so forth. The sandwich I had had a tomato-based sauce, and the BBQ was topped with a scoop of coleslaw and a pickle. There's nothing inherently wrong or bad about that -- I love coleslaw -- but that is in no way, shape, or form a North Carolina style BBQ sandwich. The slaw wasn't terrible, just bland. The pulled pork was so-so; tender enough, but not very tasty. Neither sandwich was terrible and the dining experience was excellent. The restaurant was spotless and service was great. It may well be that other items on the menu are excellent. I don't mean to bash the restaurant and I certainly mean the staff and owners no ill will. I'm just pointing out that people familiar with the good stuff they've previously had -- in Texas or nearby states in the case of beef brisket BBQ, or the deep South in the case of pulled pork BBQ -- are likely to be disappointed. read more

I've been to my fair share of BBQ places across the nation and this one stood out. We had the 3 meat sampler and had the Brisket, pulled pork, and jalapeño sausage. For sides we had the Cheesy mashed potato's, Mac n cheese, baked beans, and green beans. Let me tell you, the meat was so tender and flavorful even without the assortment of 6 sauces. The sides were some of the best I think I've ever had. The green beans were my absolute favorite. We were greeted by an amazing staff who was super friendly and helpful. Ashley and Douglas made our experience a memorable one with how kind they were. You can tell these people take pride in where they work. On top of everything else, this place was CLEAN! I don't give 1 star reviews often, but this restaurant really missed the mark. How it has such good reviews? It must be rigged or I had an oddly bad experience. We were greeted by friendly employees. When they found out it was our first time dining at Mission, one employee went into a great deal of detail on how each dish is made, making it sound like a local mom and pop restaurant. We later found out it is a chain with 150+ locations. To say the food was underwhelming would be an understatement. My boyfriend ordered a meat sampler and the portion size looked very small. The platter was basically empty. His turkey looked very dry, only salvageable by dousing it in barbecue sauces. I ordered my brisket lean, but it was beyond dry and flavorless. Some pieces were even hard. The only saving grace was the assortment of 7 barbecue sauces to try. Although they looked like they had been sitting out all day and not refreshed so a bit unsanitary. The mac and cheese was yet again underwhelming. The sauce was thin and had a weird flavor profile, and was not particularly cheesy. The cornbread was basic. To top it off, Diet Coke came out of the fountain machine as mainly seltzer water. At almost $40 for 2 people to dine in, I would NOT recommend coming here. read more

Last May I hired a caterer for our 55th High School reunion. Three weeks ago I called to add another item to the menu. They told me they had not heard from me in two weeks and thought I hired someone else!!. They said they couldn't do the event. I said they had to! They said ok but now I didn't trust them. The next day I hired Mission Barbeque. Ashley and Veronica were so wonderful. I was so upset. They helped me figure everything out. On the 30th of September they set up our room free of charge, served tons of beautiful food and cleaned everything up. We had leftovers and Steph took everything to Joe at the Shalom House that night. It was beautiful. I recommend the sliders, sausages, meatballs, caprese skewers and cheeses. read more

Great consistent food and service no matter which location we've been to and the Kenosha location was no different. On this visit, I had the two meat combo. Both the beef brisket and jalapeno & cheese sausage were excellent. I like the that they have six different BBQ sauces at each table that you can try. This location has a big parking lot. Awesome new spot... and totally mobbed often! Great menu, but weird pricing model, I think, which you see when you are order. They have all the typical proteins and they are always very good! Their brisket is particularly good as they have a "wet" which is their juicy cuts having more marbling, and the "dry" which is much leaner! The wet is killer! Ribs are very good too cooked smoked perfectly and dry rubbed. A+ for catering! We catered an event for just under 100 people with Mission BBQ. It went great and was a big hit! Mission's catering team was amazing. They were communicative, helpful, and thorough. They followed up with me the perfect amount and helped me plan the event very well! The fact that the catering included serving utensils and plastic flatware made a huge difference and helped ease the planning. (I suggest buying more napkins, plates, and cutlery for your party as a backup though- people always drop stuff and need more napkins). The food was great! We got a mix of sliced smoke turkey, brisket, and pulled pork. All great! We got Mac & Cheese, Baked Beans, and Coleslaw as sides. And we purchased the dessert trays they have available. I decided to try Mission BBQ since I was craving Brisket. I got the chopped brisket which was listed under the sandwich menu board. The first question that I asked the cashier was if there was bread, or a bun because I just wanted the brisket. I ordered a side of Cole slaw and I also decided to try the strawberry shortcake. I didn't notice that there were brownies, until I paid for my meal. The brownies were located directly in front of the register. The one negative thing that I will say is that the Cole slaw was incredibly bland and definitely not worth the $2.79 that I paid for it. That is one side that I will never order again. I am used to Cole slaw having a creamy taste. It just tasted like chopped up lettuce. I threw it directly into the garbage can after my first bite. The strawberry shortcake was good, but extremely small in portion. The pound cake was a small sliver with 5 decent sized strawberries topped with whipped cream. I am disappointed that this meal also costed $20 and part of it was sitting in my garbage can. I will give Mission BBQ another try sometime, maybe not on a rainy day. I just didn't feel like cooking anything tonight since I had a bad migraine that is why I stopped off to try the brisket. Imagine my disappointment when my meal was not as good as. I've heard a little bit about Mission BBQ but have never stopped in. After living in Memphis and having gone to Texas multiple times and eating bbq in many, MANY bbq places, I've been having a hard time finding any place remotely worth going to that's somewhat affordable. Hell, I live in the northern Midwest, they don't even know bbq up here. Well let me say I was impressed just pulling into the parking lot. Seeing the Veterans Parking sign made me think...ok, this place can't be that bad. Being a veteran it is always a nice touch. Walking inside it reminded me of a Texas bbq place. Inside was clean and covered with military/first responder patches and photos. Ordering was pretty simple and is done just like in a Texas bbq joint. I got my food in short order and it was nice and hot. I took my seat and within 2 minutes I was standing. At noon, they play the nation anthem. The entire place stood and placed their hands on their hearts and being a veteran I saluted the flag. When it was done a worker thanked me for my service and provided me with an absolutely delicious piece of cherry cheesecake. The brisket and jalapeño sausage was delicious. Tender brisket and damn tasty. I didn't even use bbq sauce as the flavor was so good. The corn bread was amazing and I'm not even a fan of corn bread. Will I be back? Hell yes I will. Be ready as it is a little pricey but everything is now. Don't let that discourage you as a sandwich from subway even costs $12 now. read more

We went to Kenosha's Mission BBQ. I was extremely pleased with the quality of service from the minute we walked in. We were greeted by Alex as if we were old friends. I need to add that I had never met this young man before walking in the door. I have dietary restrictions. He helped me place my order, provided nutrition lists and helped to make sure everything I ordered matched my needs. I have never had any restaurant help me with such sincerity before. We were also helped by a second employee to make sure the elderly person with us had the best seat for her needs. She later stopped back to see how everything else was. In addition, Alex stopped back to see if I was happy with the food choices he helped me choose. We were again surprised when Alex stopped back yet again with a special dessert treat and helped me to determine how much of it I could safely eat. I can only say "Wow!" I will certainly go back here again and if I had the ability I'd give Alex a raise! We were made to feel as if we mattered not just as customers but as people.
