There are very few smokehouses where I enjoy the brisket more than the pulled pork, but this is certainly one. Shelled out the extra $2.50 for the smoked sausage to split with my wife... it tasted like summer. Good investment! My only regret is that they do not serve fresh brewed iced tea. Although there was long line when we arrived, they work quickly to get food out. The feel is more fast food. With a fast food style que, self serve sodas and seating yourself. But the quality is amazing. And even with a $3 up charge for Mac n cheese as a side, I feel it was worth every penny. I will definitely get the Mac n cheese again, it was delicious. I stopped by on an evening. There was a line. Most of the folks were taking out food. I was there for the brisket. But it was over. But they still had the option to add brisket to mac and cheese. I went for that. Seems this brisket is fattier than the brisket sold on its own. It tasted real good. I also went for a half chicken. That was good. This is a place I am always willing to drive for. It's ~45 min from where I live and it's 1000% worth it. The brisket and ribs are perfectly cooked every time, the corn bread is delicious and slightly sweet, and the mac and cheese is so ooey goey you won't regret ordering it. There is plenty of parking and the restaurant gives the perfect BBQ vibe (seat yourself, multiple sauce options, and fitting decor). The staff are always so friendly too! Stopped by for lunch on a Sunday. This place gets really busy quick, so it's highly recommended to get here when they open. We arrived about 15 minutes before opening, and by the time we got our food and sat down, the line to order wrapped around the dining room. Weather permitting, we suggest you grab a picnic table outside as the line inside wrapped so far around the place that people standing in line could be standing next to your table. We ordered the Super Sampler, which includes brisket, ribs, pulled pork, chicken, a hot link, and 4 sides! For our sides, we got Cole slaw, baked beans, potato salad and corn bread. We also ordered a half order of rib tips which came with two more sides. The menu says the Super Sampler is enough for 2+, and we agree. It was too much for two people. The brisket was tender and delicious, and the ribs were absolutely wonderful. The chicken was juicy and tasty, and the pulled pork equally delicious. The side are excellent, with the beans being a particular highlight. Just the right amount of sweetness. Bottom line, this place is a rock place for all things bbq. We'll be back! read more

Be sure to check your gps and follow the detour signs, or go through the subdivisions and parking lots of neighboring businesses. I ordered a 1/4 chicken white meat, a 1/4 rack of ribs, potato salad and coleslaw. The ribs and chicken were perfectly seasoned which didn't require any additional sauce but there are 4 different flavors to choose from. Also the chicken breast was juicy, which means that the owner, knows how to smoke foods properly. I had to take the potato salad home because the portions are plentiful, Stop in and try this place out, it's worth the trip. There's plenty of napkins and take out bags for leftovers. YES! I came with a group of 8 people and we were thrilled with the menu and choices, but, the description of the rib tips was misleading. Instead of the rib tips being solid meat, I believe as it is stated, there are bone-like rubbery cartilage pieces that do not lend themselves to enjoyable eating. A person has to constantly fiddle with the rib pieces and that is a pain in the butt. The rest of the items we ordered were wonderful. I'd like to see the "Rib Tips" description changed to reflect that the eater will be dealing with troublesome cartilage pieces. read more

2nd time at LD's and it did not disappoint! We tried the pulled pork sandwiches and the brisket chili. The pulled pork was tender and tasty and is served with a nice fresh bun. Good portion size too! We also tried the sides of potato salad, coleslaw, mac n cheese, baked beans with corn bread. The best side was the bake beans that had a nice smoky flavor. The potato salad was pretty good, coleslaw was just ok, corn bread was very moist and delicious. The Mac and cheese was rather bland but we added some of the table bbq sauces to jazz it up. It was great to have 4 different bbq sauces at the table to try. All were very good from mild, sweet and tangy, smoky, and spicy! The brisket chili was amazing with nice big chunks of brisket with a smooth smoky flavor. We stopped in on Sunday afternoon and it was packed! I can see why when the food is so delicious! I heard that LDs BBQ was the best! I was deeply disappointed. I got the rib tip dinner. The rib tips were tough and very salty. Perhaps the reason for all the salt is the smoking, I don't know. The baked beans had a strange sweet taste, the mac and cheese had a twisted noodle which made it more pasta than cheese. The potato salad was good, which was the only thing good I can say. I tried to give my dinner to a friend who tasted it and passed on it, so it wasn't just me. I drove 45 minutes for this "great" BBQ but am going back to Jericho's Taste Me Good BBQ, which is grilled and not smoked and his sides are really good. This place is delicious. The best Barbecue I have found on Wisconsin so far. There is literally always a line here for a reason. They also have a terrific variety of sauces and all are good. My gosh-to is the Mac n Cheese with chicken. It seems like a weird thing to get, but it is so frickin good I am drooling just thinking about it. My partner usually gets brisket which he says is excellent. I think this is the 10th time we have visited and we live almost 40 minutes away. That should tell you something. Wife and I were coming home from Madison and stopped here for lunch a week ago. We've eaten here a few times before, finding the food generally very good and learning to avoid the summer fly problem, both inside and out. This recent visit however was a big disappointment. Continuing to be very good, were the rib tips, pulled pork, baked beans, and corn bread. The let downs were the ribs as the rub was way too salty, to the point I stopped eating them and threw the rest out!!The mac n' cheese lacked enough cheese flavor. Fortunately, the rib tips didn't get the same high dose of the salty rub!! So, there are still some entrees and sides we like. But throwing out food is something we rarely do!! I have been wanting to try out this place. I kind of had high expectations. What a disappointment. I got the beef brisket by the lb to go. Large Mac and cheese. And a banana pudding. She asked if I wanted BBQ sauce, which I guess would be assumed If you ask me. They have two kinds mild and one with heat. I asked for mild I got home ready to dig in. Open the beef and it looked dry, tried a bite and totally disappointed. Very dry and not a lot of flavor. Ok let's dunk it in the BBQSauce. She gave me one little to go container for a lb of meat?? Ok, it's about time I write a review for Leon's. Not the custard place in Milwaukee, but the BBQ joint out in East Troy, owned by Leon Davis! I'm no BBQ aficionado, but LD's is some finger-lickin', lip-smackin' good BBQ; everything from pulled pork, chicken and beef brisket to ribs, meatloaf and burnt ends! He's got mac n cheese, potato salad, corn bread, cole slaw, and ribs n beans for sides, and banana pudding for dessert! The servings here are no joke. I rarely get a dinner, because I can't finish it in one sitting. Sandwiches are equally difficult. Leftovers are delicious, but they mysteriously disappear in the middle of the night at my house....... My go-to sandwich is the McFarland. For $2 more than their regular sandwiches, I get two meats (pork and chicken) and 50% more of them! I'm always asked if I want sauce on it (LD's does NOT sauce stuff, allowing YOU to make the call of what kind and how much) and I always opt for the zippy sauce. Don't get me wrong, the meats naked are delicious, but the zippy sauce puts that little extra tang in there. At the table, there are usually 3 types of sauce for you to add as you wish. I end up slathering my sandwich in sauce because it doesn't sink down to the bottom layers of meat....so good! I normally get corn bread for my side. LDs' is light, sweet and moist. Occasionally I'll get the ribs n beans, but to me, they have that weird, burnt grill taste to them. The banana pudding is crazy good and often too much for me to finish, but it is just the right finisher to all that BBQ! So, take a nice, easy drive out to East Troy. We stopped here for lunch after taking a trolley ride at the East Troy Electric Railroad, and we were so glad we did! The BBQ, slow cooked daily over oak wood, is really delicious! I had the mouth-watering pulled pork sandwich with a side of tasty coleslaw. The serving was generous with lots of meat.
