Not typically a sit in food chain restaurant person, but this was surprisingly good. It's been a while since i've been to Texas Roadhouse. I had ordered a steak kabob thinking I would need some A1. I was wrong. It was delicious and well marinated!! If you enjoy vinegar, which I do!! The vegetables were well marinated as well. The mashed potatoes, lawd it was heaven sent dressed with brown gravy. The seasoned garlic rice was ok but edible. It was a lot of food, that I took the other half home. But then again, I did have some mozzarella sticks and their sweet buttery rolls with light whipped cinnamon butter. MMM MMMM... This is how long I haven't been to Texas Roadhouse, I didn't realize they have the peanuts in a pre-packaged bag. I'm not a dirty soda fan because of how sweet it usually is, but I went for the coconut cream with Coke and it was some good stuff for sure. Not too sweet! Today honestly hurt. My family and I went to Texas Roadhouse #126 expecting a normal lunch, but instead we sat there watching family after family get seated before us even though we had arrived first. I could not help but wonder if being HISPANIC had something to do with it. What hurt the most was having to remind them that we were there before everyone else, just to finally be acknowledged. Six adults stopped in for dinner on a Monday evening. We followed a basket of rolls to our table and were seated immediately (I am pretty sure I did an online check in). We ordered a couple apps and 5/6 adults either had steak or ribs. I had a bowl of mashed potatoes (small appetite). Our food was delivered quickly and everything was perfect. I haven't had the opportunity to try the rolls because I am allergic to cinnamon and I worry about cross contamination. Everyone at the table RAVED about them. Mac & Cheese: Texas Roadhouse was founded in 1993, with its first location in Clarksville, Indiana of all places. On a recent visit I went with their Mac & Cheese as one of my sides. There's not much to say as it was both basic and underwhelming. You get a ton of elbow macaroni (it was actually enough for a meal on its own) considering it's a side dish. The macaroni fell a little flat for me because the flavor was incredibly mild and more buttery than cheesy. Photos on their website depict noodles that are more of a cheesy orange, but mine looked like a light yellow or even white by comparison. On the plus side, the noodles were not dry. Our local T.R. has been a disappointment since their move to larger digs, thus, we've avoided it. This one, however was on point. I like the steak Kabob thing. When we were regulars at our Local T.R. we made pals with the Manager who let us in that the Kabobs were the trimmings from the Filet Mignons. At a MUCH more reasonable price. If you've ever butchered a tenderloin, you know it's all the same quality. The disjecta membra is just as good as the posh cuts. The added veggies on the skewer are yum, so is the rice. What an experience today while celebrating our mother's 70th birthday! The service was outstanding by Kelly! Upon approaching the facility was clean with a walk up area for pick up. The facility wasn't nicely decorated for Breast Cancer Awareness... kudos to this team! I was waiting on my group to join and Ava the hostess and manager Kelly were aware I was waiting on a group who were taking a super long time, but when I asked to be seated after 30 minutes they agreed. Once my group arrived they asked to be moved to a different table. No hassle from the team that accommodated our request. Our server Kelly was on top of our request with a smile. We ordered the onion blossom to start and our drinks which all arrived at our table quickly. In addition, we all purchased from the $11.99 menu and this was over enough food. A great value. Stopped for an early dinner on the way back to Chicago. Even though the restaurant was full, we waited only a few minutes. Our waiter was great! Fast and funny! Hack: Pick out your steak when you go in, even before you sit down. They will give you a ticket to identify your steak and you just give it to your server when you are ready. No this is not the perfect place to get a steak. But seriously it's good even if you go when it's busy. I usually pick a steak out of the case and have them not season it. This way I can control the amount of sodium I take in. I miss the seasoning that's for sure. You can order your salad with just oil and vinegar. All of the dressings they offer are pretty high in sodium. The mushrooms are good on the steak. I should try the onions as well sometime I used to get a shrimp sidekick but the sodium is way too high. Their Cheese Fries appetizer is also very good but sigh... Very kid friendly. September 2022 was our first visit to the Texas Roadhouse chain and I was pleasantly surprised at how well the food and service was. We went during Labor Day weekend and anticipated a wait. We avoided the long lines by placing an online reservation. You are then sent a text reminder prior to your reservation time. Once we pulled into their ample lot, we responded via text to let them know our entire party was present. A follow up text is sent when it's your turn to check in with the front desk. Once we got in, the process was seamless. It was a packed room however we didn't stand around for long. A few minutes later the hostess paired us with our server Ashlyn. Ashlyn seated us in a booth and brought out a bread appetizer. It was a pair of soft baked rolls that came with cinnamon butter. The sweet cinnamon butter threw us off because we're just so used to savory and not sweet. Regardless, it was tasty. For our apps, we got the cactus bloom, a.k.a your standard golden fried onion. It was an absolute hit and the dipping sauce just rocks! There was a ton of bloom to get through that we had leftovers days later. We both ordered NY strips and the steaks were simply perfect. I asked for medium and I got just that. Hubby asked for medium rare and they delivered. Our steaks were juicy, seasoned well and had great flavor. Ashlyn checked in on us frequently despite the busy night. McKinley, her manager, also came around to say hello and made sure we were happy and satisfied. It's always a Great service experience here. Everyone you talk to left their egos or issues at the door, it really shows. And I've experienced this over a number of months, with different servers. So it must be part of the culture. Thumbs up leadership and team!! And can you believe this, I got complimented for my winter Bears hat!! Due to Covid, you get a bag of peanuts now. I really love the rolls with the cinnamon butter and yes, they will ask you if you'd like a second complimentary serving. Don't hesitate - simply say "Yes, please!" I love the rib-eye, always cooked to pink perfection. The chili with cheddar cheese on top is very comforting, especially in January. Don't hesitate to get the sweet potato with camp fire marshmallows and brown sugar - that's like a hearty dessert. Of course, beware - the bloomin' onion may fill you up, along with those rolls. Pair this meal with your trip to Pleasant Prairie mall, it's a very convenient combination. Because you'll certainly deserve it, after all of that walking. No longer are there peanut shells all over the ground but they still have the tasty dinner rolls with the butter. We ordered some kids meals as well as an appetizer and main entrees. The kids meal was decent sized for the price. I felt like all the pricing was decent compared to other restaurants nowadays. Quantity of food for the price is decent here. Ordered a 12oz medium ribeye, ended up with an ultra well done 6oz sirloin about 1/8" thick that tasted like burnt cardboard. I tried to mitigate the flavor with my side of seasoned rice, but that was stale and super dry, so it didn't help much. The server ended up taking my food after only having taken about 3 bites. They also failed to compensate me in anyway for the very obvious mistake. I basically paid $120 for 3 bites of cardboard and some margaritas. The server was mostly unavailable, so we had to get an entirely different server to get him after 15 minutes of being ready to go. This was my first time coming here, and I can say with absolute certainty I will never take another step in this place. TLDR: Bad food, bad service, and I had to pay for their mistakes. It was the worst carry-out experience of my life today, President's Day 2024. It started with the mobile app. I opened it and saw that they offer curbside ordering. My wife was feeling under the weather, and I am handicapped, so I didn't bother to think twice about ordering from here. Since I didn't plan on getting out of the vehicle, I left my walker in the garage next to my parking spot for my return. I thought all was good. I remembered my last order, which allowed me to reorder it easily. It went downhill from there. At checkout, I found that my e-gift card was no longer shown in my account, so I had to search for the emails and re-add them to use it for this order. Ok, all that was taken care of, but it took three times as long as needed because of the e-gift card issue. I got a text after placing the order telling me to reply "here" when I arrived at the restaurant. I proceeded to go to get my lunch. Upon arrival, I got another text message telling me to proceed to the carry-out window. Huh, I had specified curbside pickup. After seeing this message, I replied, "Here," per the original text message I received, and waited. After 5 minutes, it became apparent that nobody would bring my food to my vehicle. That was a problem. I proceeded to look up the information on the restaurant and call them. Their voicemail answered the call, saying they were closed and informing me of options to receive a text message within hours of operation. Being President's day I had gotten an email earlier saying they;d be opening for lunch on President's day and there were plenty of cars in the parking lot and people going in and out so I knew they were open for business. I waited on the phone and was eventually offered an option to speak with a staff member. I selected that option and waited for my call to be answered. Several minutes later someone answered and I explained my issue and said the app offered me curbside pickup, they immediately replied telling me they didn't offer curbside delivery. Well, this went on for several more minutes, with me explaining my circumstances and informing them I could not exit the car to make my way to the pickup window per the new instructions. They refused to acknowledge that there was an issue in their ordering process if it allowed me to specify curbside when they didn't offer it. Eventually, I explained that I would not likely make it to the window without losing my balance and falling, asking if they would accept the consequences. I was told they would put me on hold while they spoke to a carry-out specialist. I waited on the phone for another 2 or 3 minutes, it was now 20 minutes past the time when my order was ready for pickup and I was still no closer to any resolution. Eventually, the phone was answered by someone new (the carry-out specialist), and I had to explain again all my circumstances. They replied, saying I'm sorry, we don't offer curbside pickup, as if anything I told them makes no difference. Once again, I had to resort to my fallback position, asking if they would accept responsibility if I fell into the pickup window. I heard the same. I'm sorry we don't offer curbside delivery; it isn't my fault. I never said anything about this issue being the fault of anyone working at the restaurant, at least not at that time. Now, I have to question the coordination and thinking regarding online ordering. However, it is not the working staff's issue; management and corporate IT must be involved in such a conversation. Eventually, the kind young woman working as the carry-out specialist did bring me my order. Saying again she was sorry it was not her fault. The meal is ruined and inedible for all but my neighbor's dog at this point, and I said I was certain it was cold and not edible, but all I got was I'm sorry in response. I hope that management reads this and has the guts to take some action following up with corporate IT to resolve the issue with the app. read more
