We were on our way to Racine and passed by Danny's. We made a u-turn and are so glad we did. Lovely family restaurant. Attentive service. Incredible staff, great food and super accommodating to our group of 12 people! We made a reservation down the road from Danny's (1st watch) and waited for an hour to be seated and then we were told it would be another hour. We left and showed up at Danny's with no reservations but they were eager to accommodate our large group even though they were very busy. We were seated and had our orders taken within 5 minutes. Had a craving for breakfast before work, and I heard good things about this establishment. I had the special #2 for breakfast (biscuits and gravy, two eggs, hashbrowns, and toast. Everything is made fresh and you don't leave hungry. The staff is very friendly and attentive. Very reasonably priced, and plenty of parking. Bottomless coffee cup. I lived in the southeast for 16 years and Texas for 20 years prior to moving to Kenosha, so I know a little about country fried steak. The one at Danny's was among the best I've ever had. It was tender as can be and the breading was perfect. The mashed potatoes were exactly the right consistency. A little bland compared to what you would get in Texas or the Carolinas, but this is the upper midwest, that's to be expected. Nothing a bunch of pepper wouldn't fix, pretty much. I don't kike doing this to a long time small business but I have to give it a bad review. My friend and I ordered a Vegie Omelet and a Vegie Skillet. When the food was served her Vegie Omelet came out with green pepper, tomato, onion and mushroom. It was very colorful. My Veggie Skillet was served as mushroom and potatoes. The server had returned to the kitchen so I could not ask her questions. Come on a Veggie Skillet should have had the same ingredients in it as a Veggie Omelet. NOT THE CASE! What a disappointment, I took the leftovers and now have to put vegies on it. We were the only customers in the establishment at noon and the place closes at 1:00PM. Great diner food if that's what you're looking for. It's as small town as you can get. Decor is like an up north cabin, great service and the food isn't overall greasy. After a rough 2020 with personal and professional family losses, health struggles, etc., our little family had an amazing week... a promotion for myself, an amazing new job for my husband along with a cancer scare averted - we wanted to celebrate with a stay-at-home, support-local Sunday brunch. Danny's has been a fixture of Green Bay Rd in Kenosha for years and we decided to try It for the first time for pick-up. My husband is an Eggs Benedict snob and is tough to impress. I shared with him , the generous portion, perfectly poached eggs ams it was drenched in hollandaise (he asked for extra). Hash browns could have been a bit crispier but when you transport them in a container, they are going to soften up. Kids had the fluffiest pancakes ever with strawberries. Great service and reasonable prices at this breakfast lunch cafe! We went this past weekend before 9am and were greeted by a friendly server that said we could sit anywhere. It was awesome and my ice tea glass was never empty as the server always brought a refill before I asked. The food was served piping hot and made to order. I had the thin French toast with strawberries and a side of polish sausage. It was the perfect combination of sweet and salty. Danny's Cafe has been one of the very best breakfast / lunch places in Kenosha for years. Always get great food with friendly service at a great price. Hard to beat that combination. Well they are trying to do a drive-in service on a limited time for now. They are open for drive-in on Thursday and Friday from 4:30 to 8:30 both nights. At this point their menu is some what limited to burgers, Italian beef and Philly Cheese steak sandwiches. Wife and I had one of each. My Italian was really great. Meat was piled on deep and flavor was just perfect. Had grilled green peppers and melted cheese. The wife's Philly Cheese Steak was also awesome. Both sandwiches were on great soft Italian rolls. Also they are using a new type of French fries for the drive-in menu. They were nice and crisp on the outside but soft and tender on the inside. SO BOTTOM LINE IS GIVE DANNY'S NEW DRIVE-IN A TRY. I've been to this place over the years and generally had pleasant experiences. It's a local icon that's very popular especially with the weekend local crowd. They have a traditional Kenosha diner atmosphere that is normally enjoyable. On my most recent stop there I was rather disappointed with the rather simple meal I had ordered; the one item I was looking forward to the most was hashbrowns with sautéed mushrooms on top (admittedly not a dish on the menu but the waitress said it could be done). The mushrooms stunk like a steaming sink of hot dirty dish water, so much so that I had to scrape them off the plate. I eat mushrooms rather frequently so I enjoy true mushroom flavors and scents of various kinds but something was very wrong with these. I tipped the waitress well nonetheless as I believe everyone should do for folks working hard on a Saturday morning just so people like me don't have to cook. read more

First and last time here. I stopped by for breakfast on a Saturday and the place was to max capacity which I thought were all good signs. It is a casual place that has been there many years with many regulars who enjoy it. Looks clean, there's a waiting line on weekends and the service is good (hence the star). My husband and I ordered breakfast, eggs, hash browns, pancakes and coffee. The coffee tastes like water, not coffee, absolutely no taste to it. The eggs were bland as well, the hash browns were not brown at all, still colorless and the pancakes look and taste exactly like the frozen ones out of a box. Service was very rude! On mothers day, my friend and I were trying to enjoy a meal out together without the kids. We were about 3/4 through our meal and a crabby manager came up to tell us they needed the table for another customer and we would have to leave. Then she shoved the check at us. I was shocked. There were customers who had been there longer than us who weren't asked to leave. I wonder why we were chosen. We were stuck in the crummy table by the kitchen door.
