Neat little spot that has been in Kenosha for a while. I ordered the walleye platter that came with fries and coleslaw. The fish was ok- the pieces I had were full of bones, and wasn't that great. The fries were good, the coleslaw was good as well. The cheese curds were decent, but they don't give you a lot. I'd try it again when in the area but overall- I'm 50/50. read more

If you live up North, in the Northern suburbs, you realize that you have a great advantage in that, you can shop and eat around Old Orchard or you can drive into the city and enjoy downtown or a neighborhood spot. However, you can also drive North, into Wisconsin, which is just 40 minutes North. We like to shop at Pleasant Prairie Outlet and after shopping for about five (5) hours, you will get really hungry. Hence, we almost always visit Tenuta's because there isn't quite anything like it by me. But that's a different review... I say all that to say, after getting Italian meatballs, cookies, and Cannolis from Tenuta's, you will immediately notice Ron's Place, right across the street!! They have a local and dedicated following. Yes, you will see Green Bay Packers decorations and people in Packers clothing, gasp!! But!! Their burgers are incredible and so are the cheese curds. They are also known for their Long Island teas but it's kinda early for me when I come here. Check out my pics - I always get the cheese curds, chicken strips, I've switched it up from time to time with my burger selection. Today, we got the extreme burger and it's definitely shareable, it's a gigantic double patty cheeseburger (I selected American cheese). Great service, cool & local Vibes, diners are usually talking shop, the people sitting next to you will be catching up and talkin about Jack and Diane. You can look directly into the open kitchen and see them preparing the great plates of food. Solid bar food and a list of long island iced teas that will kick your booty. This list is very comprehensive and will support anybody's taste buds. It's an older bar that's very typical Wisconsin. The only thing I didn't get were the beat up bar stools which were peeling apart with huge cracks. The rest of the place is nice and this just didn't make sense. However you're not here to ogle at a seat you're hear to have two long island iced teas and end up on the floor. read more

Tried to place an order over the phone they would not take it without me giving my cc info. I can understand that. They want payment for the food incase someone orders and doesn't pick it up. Cool, so we go in and place an order to go. Pay the rude wenches behind the bar. Some time goes by and we're given our order. Get home and the order is not complete! So you want to protect your money, but can't make sure our order is complete. We won't be back. It's a sloppy dirty business. Waitresses smoke and don't wash their hands. Stopped by today after hearing that this place is a local landmark several times and being told for months now that I need to check it out, stood around haplessly for about a minute while the staff looked at me like I was from Mars, and left. It looks like they do get extremely busy on Saturday afternoons and I'm sympathetic to the pressures of running such a place at such a time, but I can also tell when I'm not welcome somewhere. I've seen several other reviews mention that this place has a Cheers-like atmosphere. I'd amend that to say that if they *don't* know your name already or you're not a local figure of some kind, you should consider other options - Kenosha's full of them, thankfully. read more

You walk into Ron's Place, and it gives off Cheers bar vibes, with stained glass windows showcasing the logo. It gives off a casino feel, blocking out any lighting from outside, and immediately when you walk back outside, the daylight burns your eyes. And you're drunk on top of it, so v Vegas. There are tall-walled booths or a U-shaped bar area to sit at to enjoy your Ron's Place adventure. The Macaroni and Cheese Squares had a velvet-like texture and thick cheese paired with a thick ranch dipping sauce. Finally, I find a Macaroni and Cheese Square that doesn't skimp on the quality and quantity of cheese, hallejulah! This is Wisconsin, after all. The Ham It Up sandwich was exactly what I needed to warm my soul up on a cold winter day, but I'm not sure if that helped more or the Pink Starburst Long Island Iced Tea. To get a Ron's T-shirt you need to drink all 40 flavors of Long Island iced teas or any 50 Long Island ice teas. My friends had been here before and they recommended the place to me. And all I can say is I'm so glad they brought me here! The wings were just how I liked them, extra crispy and the right amount of spice and tang. And the drinks were bigger than I expected! I'd say you definitely get your moneys worth. The place is BUSY on a Saturday afternoon. So much so that I don't recommend going there. Service was poor because the place was too full. I'm guessing they're understaffed. Inside was dark and we were seated on a corner booth with very tall seats so we couldn't see anything or anyone else. There was some machine rumbling off and on beneath our seats and it kept going off. I was kinda scared something would explode. We had a 40 minute wait before being seated, which was ok and expected, but another 40 minute after putting in our orders before getting the food. Yup, too much. During the second 40 minute wait, the server never came back to check on our drinks, or to let us know the food was coming. She seemed friendly enough when she took our order and came back with the check, but we didn't see her except for those times. Even the food was brought by someone else. The burger was ok. Nothing special, though the portions were huge and very filling. The price point is great. So if the service had been just a tad better, we would have left very satisfied, even though the food wasn't the most amazing burger I've ever had. read more

Went for dinner. Solid experience. The regular fries are better than the curly (family of 4 opinion)the burgers are delicious. The flame grilled char while keeping them medium, skillfully executed. No plate had mistakes, and for being a busy Friday evening, a great compliment. For a dive-bar, it is above average on the food. Price was adequate for the times. read more

Ron's place is the place for great burgers and Long Island iced tea's. There are over 40 different flavors on the menu which you can try with a "Tour of Teas". You will receive a card that keeps track of the various flavors that you have tried. There are 2 different Tea Tours: The Classic Tour you are able to drink all 40 teas. The Custom Tour enables you to drink any 50 teas. The Burger is what attracted me to try this restaurant. I wanted a fun place to take my son, who was visiting me. We sat in a booth and both enjoyed a burger accompanied by fries. I didn't try the Long Island Iced Tea, but will return again to try one of the various flavors. I loved the bright red booth. The wood paneling reminded me of a restaurant from the 70's. The food portions were hearty and I definitely enjoyed my basket of food. The service was great and it is a wonderful neighborhood burger place. Many locals dine here and know their servers by name. I love the stained glass window showing a man opening his mouth wide to devour a big burger. I'm looking forward to bringing Zach back for another burger and we will have to try a Long Island iced tea. read more

Natalie (the hostess) sat my family of four in a 2 person booth as a "temporary" seat, we were suppose to move to a bigger table as soon as one opened up. Well when one opened up we were told we couldn't move there cause it wasn't in our servers section,,...we hadn't ordered food yet!!!! So the food was really good for a pub. The bartender was very knowledgeable and took direction well. I will say getting in to this place is tough. The waitlist is crazy long and once you're in it is packed like sardines. They have a juke box and there is something for everyone. Waitstaff warm and attentive but when it came to my "Mushroom and Swiss+ bacon" burger I ordered at the bar (with an additional lettuce/ tomato/ onion 'topper') here's what I got: A nicely cooked 1/2# burger with some kind of brown sauce on it (not sautéed mushrooms) As I was taking it apart, the lettuce on my 'set up' was a wilted assortment of just the white 'stem ends' of a head of iceberg lettuce. As I continued my sojourn even further, there was no bacon or swiss cheese. When I asked the bartender to address the missing parts, she didn't take the order back to the kitchen to reconstruct the scene of the crime but rather brought me out a little boat of bacon and a cold slice of swiss cheese, on a piece of wax paper. (.....crickets) Hungry to say the least, I reconstructed the plane crash presentation of my sad little burger, and got on with life. Far from what I expected....is this what happens when you order the Mushroom and Swiss Burger? Good thing I didn't ask for guacamole and chips. They may have as well just given me a bowl, knife, the whole avocado, tomatoes, cilantro and lime, to make it myself. We came for the Long Island teas. When my friends described this place to me that's all they could talk about. The tea list was vast with over 20+ different variations. The inside though was a bit disappointing, it's sort of small and really cramped. Upon walking in we asked to be seated and were given a rude welcoming and a 30 min quoted wait time. We figured no problem and ended up first ordering our drinks at the bar downstairs since there was literally no where else to stand upstairs. On my visit I tried the Tropical Hoochie which was full of fruitiness and lots of alcohol. I felt like it was a good deal for the price, but you could definitely tell it was made from the cheapest alcohol possible. My headache the next day also agreed. I also ended up getting the cheese curds as a snack. They were good, but nothing really unique or special to them. I thought this place was decent, but nothing ground breaking. I think charging a few bucks more and using decent alcohol would honestly make this place better. Also a little bit friendlier service can never hurt. read more

Ron's Place is a terrific bar/café in Kenosha, Wisconsin, in the heart of the old Italian neighbourhood (Tenuta's is just next door); it has been in business for many years and has a devoted clientele. I recently visited with a good friend; both of us had previously dined there a few weeks ago but wanted to try the walleye dinner. Ron's Place features several varieties of 'Long Island Iced Tea' which you can order by the (rather large) mugful; they pack quite a punch, so be careful! The walleye was absolutely piping hot; flaky, tender, and full of flavour. I can't remember when I had walleye this terrific! The dinner includes rye bread, curly fries (you can order tater tots instead, if you want to), and coleslaw; they also bring you plenty of lemon slices and malt vinegar. The service at Ron's Place is very good; although quite packed, our waitress was friendly and attentive, and brought our drinks and dinner very quickly. We did not have to wait very long to be seated, either; we had been told 10-15 minutes upon arrival, but were at our table in about 5 minutes. NB It helps to arrive early, especially on a Friday evening. My only complaint (and it is a small one) is the use of red plastic 'baskets' for serving meals: the food does not remain hot and my walleye was cold long before I finished my dinner. As for the fries, they were lukewarm at best. I actually mentioned this to our waitress and she was very appreciative of my suggestion; I'm sure it would be a considerable expense to use good, heavy restaurant-grade china. But, again, I must say I appreciate good, hot food. Ron's Place is a good place to eat; they have good food, and good service. I will definitely plan on returning! read more
