We had a pipe break outside but in such a location that to stop the leak from that pipe we had to shut off water to the house. I called in the early afternoon, and they had a plumber out the same day to look at it. I asked him about replacing our leaky hose bib at the same time, and he had another improvement to suggest for where our irrigation line split off. He unfortunately couldn't fix it on the spot with what was in the truck at the time, but they scheduled someone for 8am the next morning. One of the most blatantly rude and obnoxious companies I've ever had to deal with. The lady that talks to you on the phone really needs to take a class on customer service. We had a sewer issue and another service recommended we use these guys, both share some kind of commission I'm sure. The guy came to our house, did not even spend 2 minutes to see what was wrong with our sewer, made rude misogynistic comments at me, called the lady and said I wont do this. We had made it very clear what the issue was, so why did you even come out if you didn't want to do the work? They then proceed to send us invoices for "work done" are you kidding me? What work exactly did you do other than insulting and belittling me? Glad we researched more and got the work done from someone who was compassionate and actually cared about their customers rather than greedy and inconsiderate people at Olivero. read more

I scheduled an appointment with Olivero on July 2 (spoke with Julie) for a stuck toilet and a shower that wasn't draining. No pricing, service fee, or minimum charge was ever mentioned when I booked -- only the appointment window on July 6. On the day of the visit, the technician spent a brief minute looking at the toilet and shower, and a few minutes at the clean-out while I flushed the toilet. Including time on the phone with his office, he spent about 10-15 minutes at most, then said the job would need two technicians, 2-3 hours, and cost roughly $1,200+. The formal estimate that followed was $675 to remove the toilet, snake the line, and reset it. For comparison, I called another licensed plumber, who quoted around $220+ after hearing the symptoms, including the potential need to snake through the toilet. This plumber arrive on the same day, cleared the drain through the sink connection without removing the toilet, tested it by flushing and running water through every fixture in the house, cleaned up, and was done in about 30 minutes. That same evening, before I'd even confirmed whether I was accepting Olivero's estimate, I received an invoice for a "minimum service charge." When I disputed it and pointed out that no rate was ever disclosed upfront, I was told repeatedly by Jessica, "we are very upfront about our rates." That simply wasn't true in my case. The replies also felt templated, often arriving in less than a minute, more like a script than a real look into what happened. To be fair, the plumber were polite throughout. But the core issue is this: they insisted in writing that pricing was disclosed upfront when it wasn't, and charged me for a brief visit with no real diagnosis or work done, with an estimate starting at over 3x what the actual fix cost. If you're considering Olivero Plumbing, get a firm, written rate quote and compare before booking your first appointment, even if you believe it's just for an estimate, you do not want to end up facing an arbitrarily bill at exorbitant rate after the visit. read more

For the record, Vince and the staff at the central office are still great. If you reach out to them and Vince gets assigned to your work order, you'll be in good hands. Unfortunately, I had a couple bad experiences with another one of their plumbers who misdiagnosed two plumbing issues, so I'm updating my rating. The first issue he charged me $200 for without resolving the issue (I ended up, eventually, figuring it out and fixing it myself). The second issue he charged me $200 for, essentially, a consultation then recommended a $2K+ solution. I got a second opinion and it turned out he was wrong and the $2K+ solution wasn't necessary at all. He also wasn't particularly pleasant to interact with. It's too bad: there's a lot to like about Olivero, but my bad experiences with this other plumber kinda soured me on them. read more

This is a response to Debra P comment. Firstly, I do not lie. It is insulting that you either 1. Do not know what your employees are actually doing, or 2. they lie to you about it. I have 3 eyewitnesses who were ALL awakened at 6:45 am when your employee showed up. Secondly, the idea of an elderly woman with a major foot surgery with no weight bearing on the foot and on crutches could 'throw a shower chair' is impossible. Anyone who has had a non-weight bearing foot/ankle experience knows that two crutches are essential to balance at all times in this situation. No 'shower chair' was thrown at anyone. Look at your reviews. Clearly show that other clients have had your workmen show up well before 8:00 am. Your workman showed up without a phone call. The behavior of your workman was threatening. He was asked to leave. On another occasion a kitchen faucet was replaced but not the water lines which were clogged. And, a water filter was removed but not saved. An incorrect installation and an extra expense of $45 for water filter. I hired a professional licensed plumber to fix your 'workman's' mistake. California State Contractor's Board have confirmed complaints about unlicensed, unsupervised workers doing work under your name. The Company worker lied about the time of employee arrival. The sun was not up at the time. It was 6:45 am. The employee arrived at exactly 6:45 am and banged on door, not politely knocking or ringing the doorbell. Further, the Company worker lied about what actually happened. How can an arthritic 77 year old frail woman who was on crutches and one foot due to a major ankle replacement surgery ... unable to bear weight on operated foot 'throw a shower chair' on crutches with both hands needed to stay upright? No one was there but me and the inappropriate worker. I was treated like a criminal by the Company. Shame on them. The idea that a 77 yr old in that condition is a threat is ridiculous. Attacking the customer & blaming the victim are unprofessional and unacceptable. The mistreatment of customers is documented & repeated on many one star reviews here. read more

We encounted a leak under the kitchen sink. Vincent showed how the vent pipe had deteriorated and was leaking behind the wall. We were sent a proposal for the repair which included snaking the waste line and replacing sink piping. Scheduled appointment completed the repairs and waste line snaking was challenging. Based on the location of the sink, Vincent suggested we use more water and longer dishwasher cycles to keep the pipe flowing in the future. Overall, professional and courteous experience. COULDN'T RECOMMEND MORE! Ok let's begin with me calling on Wednesday evening with a broken garbage disposal and asking when the soonest they could have someone out. The person on the phone offered a 7:00-7:30am appointment for the next day! I figured I'd see the specialist at 7:30am since I live far from their main office, but he was here at 7:00am sharp. We had a leak In the utility room of one of our apartments. The technician said it was water heater that needed to be replaced. When he left, he told the tenant there was some residual leaking from the area into the garage below where he had put a bucket. He failed to tell us about the original leak told us this. the technician just left a hole in the ceiling of the basement. I did a follow up several weeks later I noticed he never fix the original leak but now there was leaking everywhere. I had them come out and fix this and they're charging me anyways saying it's a different problem when the different problem was the original problem not the water heater. But they won't hear this nor fess up that they failed to tell me there was a residual leak. read more

I was in desperate need of a plumber. I can turn the water to the house off but cannot replace the toilets. I tried to book a couple of other companies but they did not respond. Then I called my neighbor for a referral and he suggested Olivero's. Then I read the glowing review that Toni M wrote I knew this would be the company for me, so I called them first thing the next day. A real person in their office answered the phone; I did not have to leave a message. I was impressed, she said that the working on the plumber's schedule and would call me back within an hour, which she did. The 24-hour plumbers where I left a message never called me back. The plumber came out and replaced the toilet and the shut-off valve. He was pleasant and worked quickly and turned my water back on. The only hitch was his card swipe did not work properly, first, it did not work at all and then it told him I had insufficient funds. He put the number in manually, it took the card. He aphorized before he drove off; I went into the house and admired his work. I need some more work done it is not urgent the work can wait. We own 5 properties including our own residence and I have been using Olivero Plumbing for many years and I am so pleased with their work and their employees. They have done work at all of our properties and I never had to question my bill. One property is a very nice duplex in El Cerrito and one tenant texted me that the bathtub valve was dripping. I was concerned about how they would replace it since the tub surround is tile. Vincent, one of the employees, was doing something at another property and I told him my concern about having to tear the tile out and he said they have retrofit valve that they don't have to tear out the tile. It had the old style of valve with a handle for cold, one for hot and one for the shower diverter. That sounded great to me and that is what I scheduled them to do today. Steve was there at 8:00 and did a great job of putting tarps every where to catch the dust as they had to cut out some tile. 3 hours later Steve had the old valve removed and the new one installed. The valve backs up to an exterior wall, so there was no way of going in from a bedroom or closet. So now I have a new Moen single handle beautiful chrome valve. I am sure my tenant will appreciate it as she told me she was losing water pressure through the tub spout when she used the shower. I was really worried that I would have to redo the tile tub surround. There is no better plumbing company that Olivero Plumbing, Inc. All of their employees are a joy to talk to and work with. Starts with Julie in the office along with Jessica and Annie as they are always so helpful and friendly. This is a top-notch outfit. They do great work on a timely basis. We had them install a new gas line in the crawl space to come out of an exterior wall so we could use a natural gas grill in the yard. Steve, the technician, did a great job installing it, and he is really friendly. When we bought a new grill, it turned out the connecting grill hose had an end (connection) that was a different size/diameter than the end of the gas line that had been installed. I called Olivero and ultimately spoke to Dave, one of the owners about having them come back to our house and make adjustments. I fully expected to pay for at least an hour of labor, but Dave was so kind and said they would come out and make adjustments at no cost (or for perhaps just a nominal fee for parts). Steve came back to our house and made the necessary adjustments. What a great company to provide us with the modifications as part of the original installation fee. I also want to add, that the gal (sorry, I don't know her name) in the office, who answers the phone and does the scheduling, etc., is super-friendly, efficient, and knowledgeable. We were required by our Homeowners Insurance to have a Water Flow Monitor installed at our home. My neighbor highly recommended Olivero and now I will highly recommend the company as well. They immediately responded and were at our home within 3 days. They ordered a Moen Flo Smart Water Monitor and shutoff valve. We have an older (1950's duplex) and the installation was not easy, but with the patience and knowledge of Vincent Olivero (3rd generation owner) it was installed perfectly. I will will have no hesitation calling Olivero again, nor recommending them, if needed. I was also pleased that I was billed for exactly the amount quoted on the proposal. Subject: I am not dumb. I just don't know much and needed help. I felt compelled to write this review 4 days ago when my interaction with Olivero Plumbing occurred, but I gave myself some time to calm down and wait for an apology or acknowledgement to my email (see attached) from Olivero Plumbing . I have yet to receive one. After much agonizing and internal debate, I decided to write this review today. I called Olivero Plumbing on the morning of Thursday, Nov 11, 2021 to ask them to come out and give me an estimate on replacing two sinks and faucets in my house. A lady answered the phone and tried to diagnose what kind of sinks I have. From hearing my description of the kitchen sink, she told me that it would likely be a big project (8+ hours). She told me to email her pictures, and gave me the company email address, and then abruptly and prematurely cut off the phone. She did not seem to care that I was starting to ask another question. She also did not know that she didn't hang up the phone all the way, and was still on the line. Her voice sounded distant and quieter, and I could hear her talking to her co-worker: "Why are people so dumb? Maybe it's my short temper this morning..." My heart sank. I froze. I could not believe what I was hearing. "...Hello? Hello? I can still hear you," I said, trying to talk with her and tell her that what I heard is not ok. She didn't seem to hear me. They started talking about scheduling. I hung up the phone. I felt bad. I felt small. I felt hurt. I still feel hurt as I write this. I am not dumb, and neither is anybody else that calls you and may not know much about plumbing. I just needed help. Olivero Plumbing, this is not ok. Please be better and treat your clients with kindness and respect. Olivera Plumbing did the plumbing work for the contractor who did my house remodeling project over 10 years ago and a couple months ago I used them to locate and unplug piping and replace my kitchen garage disposal. After being gone for a month, kitchen waste came up into the bath tub when I ran the dishwasher and did laundry. Olivera came, snaked the line and found the plug (dried food waste) in the wastewater piping that runs under the house. Was easy to make an appointment, the plumber arrived on time and was professional, courteous and did a good job. Cost was per their estimate. read more

I have been using Olivero Plumbing for about five years, after working with a couple other local plumbers. Olivero is professional, ethical, and very competent. I want to give them a special shout out for the fact that Julie, who often is the first person I talk to when calling for an appointment, is quite knowledgeable. In a couple instances, she has been able to correctly diagnose the issue and suggest how I can fix it myself, or at least give her a more specific idea of what the actual problem might be. The most recent example of how smart Julie (and by association, her employer) is, is I called for help with a kitchen disposal that wouldn't activate, and whose reset button hadn't been triggered. Julie told me that the problem was more likely electrical, not plumbing, and to check the power to the AC outlet first before booking with them. She was right! We had a simple job replacing the toilet. We had the toilet unboxed and ready to go about 12 feet away from the bathroom. The plumber came and said he couldn't move it himself and he had to get help. The head plumber came and removed the toilet and replaced it with the new one. After they finished, there was a long gouge in the marble floor and grease on our vanity cabinets. The work was done in less than an hour. I paid the bill and I mentioned the gouge to the company. The head plumber came by and said he didn't think the gouge was made by the work they did. I asked why they didn't put a cover over the flooring to prevent something like that from happening. He didn't reply and was rude and raised his voice. It was a very unhappy experience. read more

This is my first time writing a YELP review. It took a lot for me to get to the point of submitting one, but after today's experience I felt compelled to. I would NOT recommend this company, especially if you have the unfortunate experience of connecting with Julie in the main office. She is extremely condescending, impatient and downright rude. I have seen other reviews now indicating the same feedback. Julie does not understand the meaning of common courtesy and good customer service. She is also disorganized and could not find documentation of a previous service I had with them earlier this year, because they had spelled my name wrong supposedly. The first experience I had with this plumbing company was great months ago, but I communicated with someone else in the main office and had a great plumber come out. That is why I contacted them again. However, this time the experience was the opposite. The hourly fee is higher now. The work was left incomplete, they left a mess of dirty footprints on the bathroom floor and house, and did not cover up other things in the bathroom to protect them from damage, so now there is a new dent on my trash bin. I saw them put dirty items on my toilet (which is new), but luckily it did not leave any marks. The communication around the job was not entirely clear about what had been done and my consent was not given for them to install a new stopper without actually replacing the new faucet that I bought first. The stopper was not connected and is inoperable and my faucet is still dripping. Now, I'm left with a faucet I cannot return, because they used the stopper, but did not install the faucet. Oh, and DO NOT buy a faucet from them. They quoted me $182.00 for a faucet that Home Depot sells for $59! They charge too much for customers to be treated to rudely. I can see why they have such a low overall rating on Yelp and will not be using their services again. Lesson learned. read more

The initial customer service experience was lacking and continued to devolve. If you speak with an accent you should consider having someone else call for you. After my husband took the time to explain what he needed the receptionist or whoever she is got back on the phone and asked what he needed. He politely explained that he had just explained to the other employee. She abruptly said "we can't help you call someone else!!" All we wanted was a quote but ended up with unnecessary hostility. Couldn't recommend this family business enough. Everybody I've interacted has been polite and pleasant on top of doing a great job. We had a corroded sewer pipe that needed replacing and David was quick to come over the next day, assess the situation, and provide a quote. He also confirmed our speculation of some shoddy work done by a previous contractor. The next week Kyle and Vincent came out and were absolute genteleman, good to chat with, and got the work done in a quick manner. They showed us the pipe and reviewed the work when they finished.
