She chose a side salad and pickled beets and fries with beef gravy for her sides. They were all very good. I just had a bowl of chili. It had a good flavor, but I didn't care much for the large kidney beans. That's just a personal preference and nothing I would fault them for. This one is definitely worth a stop.

Our server arrived to get our drink order before we even had a chance to sit down... Very impressive... When she returned, she took our order... Even though the diner was very busy for a Sunday morning, our breakfast came in a timely manner. I had three eggs (scrambled soft), wheat toast dry, and the home fries... Wife had French Toast and crispy bacon... Everything came still hot; and it tasted very good. Again... most impressive... Additionally, my coffee cup never came close to being empty... The place was clean and appeared to be well maintained... The decor is of a railroad motif... Parking was ample with easy access from the highway... I do HIGHLY RECOMMEND the Squeaky Rail for a visit to get a great breakfast... PS: We have the same breakfast everywhere we go so I can compare "apples to apples"...

Do NOT look at the dessert case when you walk in or you may ruin your delicious breakfast/lunch/dinner. Save that for after the meal. Everything I've had here is fantastic. And the good music they play in the background is another plus. I plan on eating here every day I'm in town if possible. So many things on their menu I want to try. I've been eating breakfast here, I hope I get the opportunity to do dinner. Overall I give this place 2 thumbs W

On our way home from Hershey, we wanted to have some lunch at a local diner…read more I always like to start with the positives because I know it's a local business. We were seated pretty quickly, the waitress was nice and helpful, and I thought my mini cheeseburgers were good. They tasted like they were made on the grill which is always good. Now to the stuff that wasn't as good from my husband's and my perspective. The fries weren't too bad. The soup that my husband got was a bit odd and more like a cup of gravy with chicken and spinach. It was something like the creamy chicken and spinach soup. It didn't taste too bad but was a really thick consistency which more resembled gravy. My husband did not like his open faced roast beef sandwich. It was extremely dry and didn't taste good. The brown gravy on that was also an odd consistency and didn't help enough to make the roast beef edible. He had to primarily eat the fries and bread. It's a super old school diner. Breakfast may be better.

Yankee Doodle Diner on front Street overlooking the Harrisburg skyline is a mainstay and…read moreinstitution for me and many other Harrisburg area townies. I probably stop in about once a month, and every single time it hits. I can really only speak to the breakfast side of the menu because that's what I always get -- and more specifically, the Mexican breakfast options -- but wow. The breakfast quesadilla is incredible, and recently I started getting the breakfast burrito. Today I got the smothered breakfast burrito and it absolutely did not disappoint. Legitimately as good as any dedicated burrito spot I've been to as it should be given its a Mexican owned and ran establishment. What I love about this place is that it feels real. It's not trying to be trendy or overly polished like a First Watch or something. It has character. It feels warm, handcrafted, and genuinely cared for. The staff feels super tight-knit, and you can tell there's a lot of pride and love behind the place. I love seeing a Mexican-owned and operated diner doing their thing so well, especially one that feels this rooted in the community. They've also been refurbishing parts of the establishment over time, and it just adds to that feeling that people are actively investing themselves into this place. I can't speak for every item on the menu because honestly I keep ordering the same things over and over. but everything I've had has been fantastic. If you want character over class, comfort over trendiness, and genuinely great food, Yankee Doodle provides it in spades. 5 out of 5.

Fairly busy Saturday morning, the order line moved at a nice pace, allowing my friends and me time to examine the menu while we waited. I wanted to order the Crab Rangoon pizza again, but I went for the Crab Hash & Eggs, which didn't disappoint. I found it a little difficult to take in the HUGE menu and make a decision while standing in line, but that's just me. So we ordered, got a table sign and went to find a table. There weren't many available. Like, maybe 2. We sat. We watched some amazing looking food go by. The food was brought out, along with our coffee flight and other beverages. I had a 2-egg breakfast combo and upgraded to the Fruity Pebble French Toast. It was a huge amount of food, likely enough for 3 people. The French toast was beautiful dish and I couldn't finish it all. Once food is dropped off (wordlessly) there is no more "service." You refill your own coffee mug and bus your table when you're done. The food is imaginative and excellent. It's not really a service style I prefer outside of theme park vacations, but the food is good enough that I'll be back.
