Terrible. Older gentleman clearly not certified had me on table with my ass hanging out. I kept thinking that he would for sure put a sheet on me, but had to wait about 15 minutes into the massage where I finally just told him that I wanted to cover up. He had no idea what he was doing. Also when it came to payment he tried to bully me into tipping more. I do feel bad as I write this but...Unfortunately had to stop the massage after 10-15 mins because of the pain and the masseuse pressing on my nerves. I was afraid I would end up with nerve damage as she did not know what she was doing. I mean those elbows were going in places I didn't know muscles existed; my ear sure didn't need the contact. Definitely felt like a lack of training vs different style of massage. I wasn't expecting a Burke Williams experience but I didnt expect to come out in pain and more tense then when I went in. The manager even had the audacity to say I was very tense. Well sir, I wasn't when I entered the room. I just wanted a nice relaxing massage. I did try telling the masseuse but there was no adjustment made. And after the 10 mins maybe 15 at most they charged me for a full half hour at $40 with no apologies. Joe, a sage of a man who makes your experience a bit more fun, he REALLY gets your knots untied. It hurts but no pain no gain and MAN are the aftereffects good. I think its fair to leave a review after 5 years being a regular here. What to expect: nothing fancy but very clean and professional. Joe or as i call it dr.Joe is this seasoned straight forward man that has the strongest hands I have ever experienced to use to fix that damn nagging neck and shoulders pain that only goes away temporarily with Ibuprofen everyday, he will get to the root of the issue with full combo body massage (highly recommended). My experience has been walking out there (felt destroyed by his heavy hands) but pain free as it feels my body starts breathing and my blood flowing again. Be prepared to get unsolicited fatherly advice about life from him but its all in good nature. This is the only place i will choose for deep tissue and thai massage hands down! It's different from other techniques that focus where you hurt because it focuses on areas that cause other parts of your body to overwork themselves and cause pain. Don't get me wrong. Those places that might not hurt every day will hurt like a bitch when they're loosening them up, and you'll be surprised how messed up X will be when you came in for them to make Y stop hurting. This place is truly a gem, and you'll be a little sore for a day or three after, but you'll be moving better and feeling better after that. THE WORST MASSAGE EVER! Here is why: 1)Even after repeatedly asking the masseuse to use less pressure and literally yelling OW, he did NOT adjust and continued to use extreme force. Everything hurts even when I'm not moving. WOMEN BEWARE! UNPROFESSIONAL! My review is based on numerous inappropriate comments that Joe made throughout my massage. As a woman I feel vulnerable enough as it is being nude (only panties) in front of a stranger, so I was caught off guard by the inappropriate comments that Joe made to me during my massage. Joe said to me "you have such a beautiful face, BUT you need to lose weight". He proceeded to tap on my belly and said "if you lost weight all the men would find you so beautiful", and he proceeded to make cat call whistle sounds as an example of how men would be so much more attracted to me. At one point during my massage he had me sit at the edge of the bed in front of a full length mirror on the wall and again said "look at how beautiful you are, but you need to lose weight" (remind you I was nude). Yes, I'm overweight, but that's none of his fu**ing business. Im paying for a therapeutic massage, not to be critiqued about my physicality. I was so mortified that I didn't know what to say. At the end of my massage when it came time to pay he reiterated his sentiments "if you leaned out you will be so much more beautiful", there were other people in the waiting room...I couldn't believe that this was actually happening to me. Joe is the most unprofessional massage therapist I have ever encountered, condescending. I don't understand why he felt this was appropriate on any level. Just a little backstory (if you want to skip this just bump down to the last paragraph): I spent two weekends at Coachella and danced so hard my legs stopped working (several times). We left super early from Indio to Orange County and slept on the floor after an arduous drive, woke up and headed to Burbank airport. After calling a couple other spots near Bob Bope Airport, we booked two one-hour massages at Olive Thai Massage. She picked the Swedish massage and I went with the hot stone, both priced at $50. This is a standard operations kind of spot, so it's "strip down to underwear and lay face down on the table". The lights are super dim and the place has a fantastic energy and super chill music that keeps you in a meditative state, genuinely entrancing you throughout the whole process. Our massages went for a little over and hour and we both walked out feeling like a million bucks. Our masseuse checked in with us from time to time and really knew how to work the kinks out of the locked muscles but still be gentle during tender times. The owner was exceptionally welcoming as well! This is a wonderful option if you're looking for a post vacation (or just a local spot) massage. It's close to the airport (about a 7 minute drive) and also super close to Porto's Bakery (you know, potato balls and meat pies, Cuban coffee, sweet things, etc.).
