I bought a 16 inch New York pizza with pepperoni and a small order of medium wings from Olisi's, this for the first time ever and to see if the food is the genuine article. I am pleased to report that the pizza was as close to "New York" pie as it gets in WNY, being chewy, cheesy, fold-able and with a well-spiced (and not sweet) sauce. Pepperoni were thinly sliced and ample. The wings were tasty and as ordered. I put away three pieces of pizza -- one more than I can usually handle -- and am looking forward to eating some for lunch! I have one, very small gripe about Olisi's: one of the cashiers looked like she would die if she cracked a smile, and that was off-putting. Something for the owner/manager to consider. Olisi's is the best place to get pizza in the area by far. Their customer service is incredible and the selection is endless. The stuffed steak pizza makes any sane person drool. We've only come in for single slices and have never chosen anything even subpar. Also, the garlic knots. Must do. They also offer subs, salads, pastas, wings, fingers, and a cooler full of drinks. we ordered the house pizza - we were told it was going to have 8 very large slices. They told me I could have it cut in 16 slices instead of 8. The pizza was NOT cut in 16 slices as requested. We also ordered 30 chicken wings with 20 of them being MILD. They were definitely NOT MILD. When we picked up our order, the 3 guys behind the counter were not the most friendly. They appeared to have ZERO personality and didn't appear to want to even be there working. What happened to good friendly service and getting our order correct? Every time Brad and I drive past Olisi's, we always say we should check it out. We finally went on Sunday. I love love love NY style pizzas. I was so excited. We ordered a hot chicken finger sub for Brad and 2 slices of cheese and pepperoni. Pizza - This was nothing special. I didn't think they heated it up when we ordered. It seemed just luke warm. I felt that Molinara's was much better. Sub - This was very good. I had a few bites. I do think it wasn't "hot" in regards to spicy. If I can have bites of it, it's not hot. I thought the sub bread was delicious. I told Brad to call them back and see if they make their own. He said that was "weird" and wouldn't do it. I would definitely order a sub again. First, I have to start off by saying that Olisi's is my new favorite place in Buffalo, for pizza slices! I went there the first week it opened and it was great then! It is absolutely perfect now! It is difficult to find very good NY style pizza in Buffalo. This is it!! Perfectly thin crust! I frequent Olisi's at the very least, once a week. It is conveniently located right around the corner from me. Which, I'm trying to decide is a good or bad thing. I'm finding it hard to drive by, without going in!! I have yet to try something I dislike. As far as slices, I have narrowed my favorites down to: Tomato Basil pizza, Steak and Banana Pepper pizza and the Steak Stuffed pizza! I would also highly recommend the spaghetti, with marinara sauce. It is sautéed with garlic and fresh tomato sauce. I ordered the lunch special and it is a very generous portion. Every time a place advertising NYC pizza rolls into town, I make it a point to visit as soon as I find out about it. The lack of a decent slice is one of the hardest things about living in Buffalo. It's been a decade of searching, with a mostly disappointing end. Today, that all changed. I mean it when I say that I walked into Olisi expecting disappointment. The sign advertises wings- not an authentic NYC tradition for a pizza joint- and Olisi is not an average Italian last name. But when I saw the pizza out on marble in a glass instead of in a tiny turtle tank with aquarium lights, I got a little hopeful. Then I got my order. My tradition is to order a cheese slice at a new place- because a decent cheese slice is simple enough to judge the integrity of the pizza. Then I saw that the garlic knots- usually absent in a Buffalo pizza place. And they looked high quality! I got four to share with my husband and he got a pepperoni and meat lovers slice. A good NYC slice should have a crunch to the bottom, a healthy amount of sauce, and a cheese layer that allows some pink from the sauce. If the cheese is cheap, it will pool grease and make the pie mushy. Everything about this slice was perfect. The bite on it was spectacular. The ratio of crust to sauce to cheese? Perfectly calibrated. Exactly warm enough. Exactly foldable enough. Truly delicious. A few bites of the pepperoni slice revealed that the the slices were of a high quality and were baked on- not added later like some pizza places around here do, claiming to be NYC influenced. Higher quality pepperoni won't pool grease- thin slices add tons of flavor without ruining the slices texture. Exactly what we have here. The staff are friendly, the place is clean and comfortable to sit in. As far as I am concerned, all other places "NYC" pizza places in Buffalo could shut their doors this instant. I'd be more than OK with it. I'd never miss them. Olisi's has my loyalty forever. read more

I stop in for slices from time to time and they have always been very good, but I have never ordered anything else from here and probably never will again. My favorite local pizzeria closed and I was craving some wings so I ordered wings and a slice of cheese pizza. They never warmed up my slice so it was cold. I moved here from NYC seven years ago, and have been on the hunt for what we folk consider "real pizza" since I arrived, with heartbreakingly little success. I love my new city, but the pizza is just not what I call pizza. And the signs throughout the city proclaiming "New York Pizza" pretty much mean, "We have something that is not sauce- and cheese-covered cake!" :/ I mean no offense to Buffalonians...but if you know a New Yorker, you know we take our pizza very, very seriously. At first, the best option appeared to be Wegmans thin crust. It made me sad. Then Zetti's on Elmwood opened, and their stuff was closer, but the sauce was too sweet and the cheese just didn't cut it. Gino's on Elmwood was my choice after Zetti's closed, but still it was only the best approximation. Then I discovered Sal's on Kenmore Ave - which is now closed - which was by far the closest thing I'd found to the pizza I know and love. Here's what makes NYC pizza authentic. The secret is not merely the thinness of the crust. 1. Not a foolproof indicator, but if the establishment features garlic powder and red pepper flakes on the table, this is a good sign. 2. The slice must be long enough that the tip drops down if you don't get it folded fast enough. This ensures that you can *only* eat the pizza by folding it in half (which is, of course, the only way to eat pizza). ;) 3. Crucial, and very difficult to find outside of NYC, for reasons I do not understand: when you fold it, the slice cracks. It cracks promptly, at the base of the slice, and up at least a couple of inches - but not all the way to the top. If it cracks more than midway, the crust is too thin and has no chewiness in the middle. If it doesn't crack at all, it just ain't NYC pizza. It's too doughy. 4. The pizza drips hot orange oil. The perfect amount is not so much that it runs down your wrist as you lift it (but at least that means that it has cracked!), but enough that your plate is decorated with several circles of orange when you are finished. If there is not enough oil, there is not enough crunch in the crust. 5. The sauce is not sweet. I can't say this enough. Pizza = salty. Flavorful. Vaguely tomato-y, but not as sweet as tomatoes. The sauce is NOT SWEET. 6. The cheese is an entire and connected layer of the slice. It stretches from the slice into your mouth when you bite into it - it does not just slide off of the crust - and it will burn a chunk of the roof of your mouth clear off if you're not careful. It does not taste like a gob of mozzarella in your mouth, on top of sauce on top of bread. It is one with the sauce and the crust and the toppings. These are not separate parts. Olisi's is all of this. Yes, that's what I said. If you're a fellow NYC transplant, hear me: Olisi's pizza is ALL of this. After seven years, I was not optimistic. But I had tears in my eyes as I bit into it. Thank you, Olisi's, for this connection to home, and for giving me the opportunity to grow my Buffalo-raised daughter up on NYC pizza. Greasy, but with a good solid "spice" to the sauce - everything we've ordered has been pretty much on point. A little pricy - that is what keeps me at a 3 rather than a 4 - because while good, I don't think it is so "outstanding" as to be worth the slightly higher cost. read more

Pretty nice place, it's very convenient which is a major plus for me. They have a good variety of different pizzas in the display case which can be heated up in a moments notice. They have subs and burgers as a normal pizza joint should, tv and a good amount of seating inside. The only thing missing? FLAVOR. I can only speak for the heated up slices of pizza because that is all I have had the times I went there, the slices are big and they fill you up but they leave you wanting more taste in each bite. I also find when I go in there they almost fast talk or push other stuff on you like the marinara sauce (again not bad but not great either) or the deals for the half off drink. Great addition to the Downstate pizza movement in Buffalo. The slices were light with the right amount of cheese and toppings. The crust was great and the slices were heated up just right. There are many pizza places in Buffalo. Some of them are very good (Bocce's) but none of them can quite do NY style pizza. Having grown up in NYC, just a block away from a pizzeria that I frequented many afternoons on the way home from school - I like to think I know good NY style pizza. As soon as you walk into this place - you know it's the real deal. Anyone who's been to a pizza place in NYC can tell you there's a certain way they smell - and it's a sign of a good pizza place. Olisi's has that smell. The next is the presentation - behind glass, on raised metal trays, on a marble countertop. Zettis does the display on marble behind glass..but the slices sit on the countertop. My true test comes from looking at the pepperoni. Most places in Buffalo put the pepperoni on too early and burn them to crisp, making them bitter. Olisi's does it just right - the pepperoni is baked on but not burnt. I had to have a slice. I got the pepperoni and sausage - not little round sausage bits but actual shredded sausage. And it was perfection. The crust was perfect - crunchy but not burnt, foldable and yet still kept the cheese on. Along with the slice, I got garlic knots. And I swear, for almost a moment, I was sitting back in the pizzeria down the street from where I grew up, enjoying a post school meal on a warm spring day. I grew up around the NYC area, and although I like Buffalo style pizza, sometimes a NY style slice is what I need to satisfy the pizza craving. This place sells some serious slices. I tried a classic pepperoni, and then I went out on a limb and tried a stinger slice. Oh boy that was a mistake. There was enough meat on this slice to feed a small town. It took two hands to carry it to the table. I started small with the pepperoni slice to work up to the stinger slice. Both were absolutely delicious, and I was stuffed by the time I could actually get up and leave. I should have known that this would be a bad experience based on basic lack of understanding of ricotta cheese, and the simple desire to add ricotta as a topping to a pepperoni pizza. The cheese fiasco aside, the pizza was just plain bad; cheese was under cooked, crust was soft but not chewy as it should be, and there was too much sauce (not the hip hop kind of sauce). Good spot to go! I was in the mood for pizza, and the Yelp photos were displaying some thin crust, which I love. I went there on a week night to check out the menu and ordered a large. The guys behind the counter were really great and helpful, and my pizza was ready in good time. The flavor was alright. I'll admit it, I ordered Buffalo Chicken Pizza. Buffalo Chicken sounded so, so, so good, but as is typical (since I follow a vegetarian diet), the meat didn't taste as good as I imagined. That tends to happen when I venture to have a meat meal, and then I feel like splurging wasn't worth it. Meat eaters will disagree, but I have crazy high standards when I do eat meat, and a pizza shop isn't the place to give in to nutrition cravings anyways. So I ended up picking the chicken off my slices and gave them to my husband, who liked it just fine. I would definitely go back here because they had plenty of vegetarian options I could have chosen from, and the service was so great I'd be happy to go back. This pizza is mediocre: little sauce of no consequence a few scattered elements (i can't believe i wasted the cash on a few onion pieces), skimpy cheese and uninspired crust. I got the impression that the crust was prebaked...not very crispy. To call this ny style is pretty meaningless here. I think better to just call it mediocre. The wings were a snooze as well. As a resident of the Town of Tonawanda, I could throw a rock and hit 3 different pizza places from my house, but Olisi's is my new favorite. The pizza is true NY style pizza and is very well made. Their selections are incredible and the staff was very friendly. I was skeptical at first since a large (which is their smallest size) pizza set me back $15, but their smallest pizza easily satisfied .y family of four. Came from Los Angeles, CA to Buffalo for my daughter´s wedding. My daughter and son in law from LA wanted to taste New York style Pizza. My Buffalo daughter recommended Olisis as she is a student at U at B, North Campus. We were not at all disappointed. We ordered the Margharita Pizza with a side of green olives, the garlic braised broccoli, garlic nuggets with marinara sauce. We are so pleased. It was delicious. Not really a fan. Ordered delivery, which was fast, but I really found it subpar. We ordered the chicken, broccoli and cheese pizza and it was very bland and the crust didn't quite have the, well, crustiness it should have. Maybe a little longer in the oven? The chicken also reminded me of Tyson strips (precooked/premade). It definitely needed something.... pecorino and fresh black pepper? We also ordered the app sampler which was average prefab frozen foods but they also forgot the hot sauce, though we ordered them medium.
