Slice of Cheese and pepperoni Pizza

I absolutely love this pizza! The crust is thick and very crunchy & they do Buffalo style pizza perfect. It was fairly priced & they made it quickly. Very happy overall.

One of my all time favorite pizzas in Buffalo. We love the charred pepperoni and chewy, doughy crust. Great flavor, never disappoints!

"Get a large this time," he said. Fork for scale because I have no bananas.

Wanna guess what we had for dinner Friday night? Picasso's Pizza. Wanna guess what we had for dinner tonight? Picasso's Pizza. Wanna guess what we had for dinner last night? Gumbo, actually. But my husband ate Friday night's Picasso's leftovers for lunch yesterday. My "pizza princess" ate Picasso's three nights in a row. If you knew my husband, you'd know that's a BIG DEAL. I grew up in Medina, where we had 10-10-Takeout and Mary's Pizza & Subs. Picasso's reminds me a lot of what Mary's was like - that amazing soft, pillowy crust, charred pepperoni, and a well done pie. Buffalo pizza at its best! My husband grew up in Louisiana, where crawfish are king and pizza comes from some national chain. Still, he knows what he likes and he's very particular about it. When he was working in Baytown, TX, he fell in love with this place called Pipeline Pizza. He couldn't stop talking about it. Every night we'd talk (him in Texas; me up here). Every night he was craving some Pipeline Pizza. When that project was finished, he missed that pizza more than anything. Since then, he's worked in Beaumont, TX and in Utica. He's been trying to find something he loves as much as Pipeline ever since. Friday night when he came home, I had ordered Picasso's through DoorDash. He took his first bite and his eyes locked with mine. I knew. I just knew. I did it. I found everything he's been searching for in a pizza. Friday night I ordered the medium. Tonight he wanted more leftovers so he could take some back with him to his job in Utica when he leaves tomorrow. He wanted a large. A large. Have you ever SEEN the large? Oh yeah. It's humongous! A large pizza, five wings, and French fries. By the way, the fries are pretty amazing, too! I love the steak fries over the shoestring fries any day, and these were perfectly done and still warm when they got to the door. I didn't try the wings myself, but he had them with the Thai chili sauce and said they were incredible.

This place is close to my work, and pending on my cravings, this restaurant makes it work for me! I've had their subs (amazing bread with accompanying fries), their personal pizzas, and now their salads. I really wanted some greens and had heard great things about them, so my coworker and I went with chicken Caesar salads. Their croutons are AMAZING! I want the salad just for them alone! The chicken is well cooked, fresh greens and cheese, and then a generous dose of dressing. Between past eats and the recent salads, definitely a place to rely on for fresh, homemade loved food for all!!

So I'm not a big fan of Buffalo style pizza, I find it to be too doughy and prefer a thinner style. We watch Barstool Pizza Reviews and after we saw Picasso's hilarious tweet to Barstool Sports and the equally hilarious get up Dave wore to review them, we decided we had to give them a try. After all, I drive right by the Transit location on my way home from work! When I ordered I felt like $25 was a bit steep for a large cheese an pepperoni pizza. And then I picked it up. A large is more like party pizza size. It was huge! That certainly explained the $25 cost. I love the quotes about pizza in the windows, I've noticed them when I've been stuck at the light right there in the past. There is a small dining room but it was actually a lot bigger than I expected. From the outside it looks like it would just be a take out joint. I did get ours to go, but I'm going to have to swing by for lunch sometime, they have a pretty large selection on their menu. After a tortuous twenty minute drive home (smelling pizza for that long is pure torture), we finally got to dig in. Why have I not been eating this for the 9.5 years we've lived in Buffalo? By far the best Buffalo style pizza place, I guess that's why it says "We are Buffalo pizza" on the door. The dough isn't quite as thick as a lot of Buffalo pizzas and it wasn't mushy at all. Even the middle pieces stood up. The crust hat a great almost burnt crisp to it and they use the small pepperoni "cups" like most Buffalo pizza so those have it crunch as well. I absolutely love the sauce, it's my perfect sauce. And the grated parmesan on top added another layer of flavor. So to sum it up, we will be getting many more pizzas from Picassos!

Honestly one of my favorite spots for pizza! I've ordered to-go from this Picassos a couple times and it never disappoints. I ordered from a different Picassos and it was not that good so I continue to go to the one on Transit rd now! I love sweet sauce and I love how there is some sweetness in their pizza sauce, yum!! I thought I'd try a different kind of pizza so I ordered jalapeño, pineapple and ham on mine and it was absolutely delicious! The jalapeños were spicy (which I love) but the pineapple made the pizza sauce taste even sweeter so a great combination of sweet n spicy for sure!! I can't wait to order it again! My boyfriend ordered the norm cheese n pep and it was yummy as well! We ordered the loaded fried dough and it was a tasty dessert. We will be back soon for more great pizza!!

    Chicken Finger Sub
    Evelyn B.

I have heard such great things about Picasso for years. Yesterday a friend said she ordered me a chopped chicken and cheese sub and how it was so good. I got home and had a dry chicken finger sub. Very disappointed. I'm not sure what sub I was supposed to get but it def wasn't chicken fingers that was deceived to me before the order was placed.

In the four years we've lived here, I feel like I have been robbed of not knowing about the true depths of Picasso. Wednesdays are my "Please be quiet, because mama needs to work" days as my young kiddos are distance learning. First, they yelled for nuggets, but somehow, that switched to pizza -- so I ordered Picasso via delivery (DoorDash). I knew nothing about this spot/chain, other than we pass this location all the time. They wanted a pepperoni pizza, so that is what I ordered. I knew this pizza was legit the moment I opened up the box and saw the seasoning all over it. My youngest didn't appreciate some of the charred pepperoni pieces, but that only meant more for me. My kids are 6 and 5, and ate this pizza by themselves without issue. Trying to be cute with my carbs, I slyly cut off edges to eat, and my God in heaven, we need an official family pizza night. It was good!

The GPS took us to the first location that opened (the waitress said the 1960s) a long time ago. The building is sitting at an angle from the road so go to the right and turn in to park or go past and turn right for the parking lot. Middle of the afternoon on a Thursday they weren't too busy. We were seated immediately and waited on quick. I wanted some clarity with the wing heat. Some places hot is mild or hot is burn your face off. She clarified the medium hot is hot so that's what I decided on for an order of 6. My sister isn't so much of a wing person so she decided on a grilled cheese. The waitress was pleasant and answered all the questions we had. The restaurant itself isn't too big but can seat a lot of people. Total wing vibe. Lots of different flavors and quantities went by...everything looked tasty and fresh. They had Yuengling on tap so that's what I ordered. She had a pepsi. Food arrived fast. The aroma was to die for (ok it burns the eyes a little...). Came with celery and blue cheese. The wings were amazing, some of the best I have ever eaten. Crunchy celery and cool dipping sauce. Bigger than most that I have ordered and very freshly prepared. After 6 I was filled up...but I ordered another brew just to wash it all down. If you're in Buffalo (or the area) it's definitely worth stopping to have a treat. Other Buffalo favorites are on the menu as well (Beef on Weck sandwich. We will definitely be back, more flavors to try and locations to enjoy.

The sandwich was great and really salty (per the custom), but the bread became soggy pretty quick. I would dip it in the jus and try to bite it but the meat just couldn't be bit through and no matter how hard I tried it just made a sloppy mess. That was disappointing. The wings were ordered Medium Hot which they warn you is "Very Hot"... but it isn't. They were good, but next time I will order Hot because there was little to no burn. The fries were the frozen variety but nice, skinny and crispy. I liked dipping them in the leftover wing sauce. Next time, I will skip the sandwich and just get wings and fries. Hopefully it won't take me 5 years to come back.

Instead, the place felt more like a cavernous tourist stop than the legendary wing destination I had imagined. The wings were good, but not great. We ordered them dry so we could try several sauces, and to their credit, the wings themselves were cooked perfectly. The sauces, however, were underwhelming. We tried the garlic parmesan, the original, and the extreme heat sauce, which I believe was called "Suicidal." They all seemed to rely heavily on cayenne and butter, with limited complexity and less heat than expected. Maybe I've been spoiled by other wing spots with more creative sauces and better blue cheese and ranch, but these just didn't stand out. That said, the service was great, and I appreciated the staff. I'm glad I went for the history, but based on the food alone, it didn't live up to the hype.

The huge portions made up for the bland flavors. I visit the city every year in the fall, and I am still trying all of the wing places that have been recommended. The latest on my list was Doc Sullivan's, a very, VERY local watering hole. This is the kind of place that makes you immediately remember that you are absolutely not from here, but in the best possible way. Doc's is a historic, no-frills neighborhood pub smack in the heart of South Buffalo's Irish Heritage district. The second we walked in as clearly obvious outsiders, the entire room of rough-and-tumble regulars seemed to pause their conversations, turn towards the door, and stare at us. Even the bartender (who also doubled as the host and our waiter) clocked us immediately with a cheerful, "Hey visitors!" It was hilarious and broke the awkwardness we were starting to feel. Everyone was incredibly nice and welcoming once the moment passed, but it was clear we stood out from the regular crowd. If you have an aversion to dive bars, this is not the place for you because Doc's is not fancy. It's well-worn and smells like Fabuloso cleaner mixed with stale cigarette smoke and old beer. I was surprised at how clean the place was, but it does have that dive bar smell and feel. I felt like I'd walked onto a movie set because this place screams Buffalo, and does so loudly and proudly. I'm not a fan of chicken wings, but my hubby is. Food-wise, he ordered a half dozen of the famous Smitty Wings at the suggestion of the bartender, which come coated in the house's unique spiced butter sauce along with a half dozen with hot sauce. He liked the Smitty wings fine, but preferred the classic hot Buffalo wings, which he said had legit heat and were "more than decent." Not his all-time favorite wings, but still tasty and meaty enough to earn his respect. I went with the buffalo chicken sandwich, which was massive. It was a fried chicken breast patty on a super soft, fresh roll with lettuce, tomato, and onions, tossed in a mild Buffalo sauce that had just enough heat for a timid spice girl like me. The quality was good, but not great, and it was basically the same chicken sandwich you can get at dozens of places around town (it was very similar to the same menu item at the Anchor Bar, for example). The fries were nothing special, and they tasted like regular old french fries you'd get at your local deli. They were freshly fried, hot and crispy, and we both appreciated that malt vinegar was already on the table. We had a good experience at Doc Sullivan's, but agreed that we would not go out of our way to eat here again. I wouldn't call it a must-do for foodies, but I'm still really glad we went. While the food wasn't all that memorable, it felt like a true local Buffalo experience that you don't get at polished, tourist-friendly spots. This is the place if you want to soak up local character and are seeking another stop on your buffalo wing eating tour.
