This was our second time here- first time in the new location. It is the best Baja style Mexican food I've had this side of the Mississippi. I wish the tortillas were homemade, but that doesn't seem to be a thing out here, so I wouldn't ding them for that. We were a large party and everyone was happy with what they ordered. Sadly it seems Ole Guacamole is not what it used to be. The margaritas were so bland. We did not say anything, but a lady came after awhile with new margaritas and said there was a problem with the machine. They still tasted off. The food was meh. The water tasted soapy. If you have a large number of people in your group ie 12 or more I wouldn't bother dining at this establishment. They could not seat our entire party together (12 of us) completely at one table because of a fire hazard. Service is a bit slow here and the last meal I had here was not appetizing at all. Thank goodness for bottomless chips otherwise I would have left here hungry. If you are gonna be called Ole Guacamoles then you better have some good guac. We thought Ole guacamole was good before. Their new location is even better. The service, the food, the atmosphere, everything better than anticipated. Our server Mars did a fantastic job. Just OK. The chips and beans is weird. Super bland and a very cheap option. The salsa bar is just ok . The fact they labeled the salsa "kids salsa" is weird. The atmosphere seemed dirty and the walls need a good scrubbing. The food was ok , i probably wont be back . It was my first and last time yesterday. Took 30 minutes to get food which is ok but at other Mexican restaurants you get better , fresher food faster . I ordered tacos and my husband ordered fajitas. Chilis has better fajitas. The rice is definitely "uncle bens" rice from Walmart. Not sure how this place is open when there are other places that are better and cleaner . Three star because the food was just ok . I currently live in Philly, but as soon as I came home for the holidays, Ole's Guacamoles was the place my mom wanted to take me. The restaurant is very fun and festive with a bar in the back and a few TVs. The highlight is the salsa bar with a variety of flavored salsas ranging from mild to very spicy! We were quickly seated and our server was prompted with serving our table of 5. I ordered a yummy frozen mango margarita which was very tasty and came in a little mason jar. Don't worry.., they have bigger ones! Also don't forget to order a horchata. It came in a 32oz beer glass and was delicious! Let me also tell you the drink was only around 3 bucks! The food was yummy, hot, and tasted fresh! I had the pechuga fundida which was essentially chicken breasts covered in queso (I believe spinach, onion, and mushroom) were also on it. Delicious! I know people that also come here on Tuesdays for their dollar tacos. They also make the guac table side. Overall, this is the place for some classic Mexican food and you will also quickly find your favorites! read more

I keep hearing about Ole's being one of the really good Mexican places in town. I planned to be good and skip the table side guacamole, but as soon as I sat down I asked for a table side guacamole. I just can't pass up the fresh avocado and they did not disappoint. Ole's has a full vegetarian section with creative dishes that have been given some thought. I ordered the veggie fajitas for my dinner. The variety of vegetables were great and the flavor was wonderful. The fresh guacamole was a nice addition also. I also tried the shot special of the night hand crafted by the bartender. I would say there is creativity all around. read more

If you go, do not get server Jenni. Reseat with someone else. All in my party agree, this was the WORST service we've ever had. She disappeared for 30 minutes after we ordered. We got no silver ware. We had to go to the bar to get a drink refill. She didn't mention the salsa bar (self serve). My order was wrong and she didn't offer to fix it or send it back. She just said, "do you need anything else then". I couldn't eat my food and she made no apologies to fix it or make it right. Never coming back again because of the service. Others seemed to be working very hard but Jenni was missing in action pretty much the whole time we were there. The lady serving chips did more to help us out than our "server". Waitress tried to upcharge me by $2 without asking me, then tried to pull the same on my son's order for another $5 and the margarita was the nastiest watered down drink I've ever had yet she tried to charge me for it when I told her to cancel our order handguard we were leaving. I love spots like this. Not only because they sell above average Mexican food, but because they have character. Located a couple of blocks from the edge of downtown JC (in what they tell me was a little grocery store), it sits with the street to one side and it's back to a neighborhood. They bring chips and a warm bean dip that's addictive to the table . The only thing better is their homemade fresh salsa bar. Fantastic variety of flavors! Beware the spice temperature - I love hot stuff and some of these sauces got my attention. Like guacamole too? Some of the best I've had! The food was very good - I had the tamale plate with two chicken tamales (they only offer chicken), rice, and beans. The tamales were on the high end of the tamale scale: really really good, with the rice and beans above average too. Our server was pleasant, helpful, patient, and had a smile on his face the whole time. What we needed appeared without delay. Couldn't have had better service. Prices seem on the low end for the quality which was a pleasant surprise. Hope it stays that way... The dining area is not tiny, but smaller and "cozy". Festively decorated with tables, booths, and a few seats at the bar. Good selection of drafts, and the usual margarita variety (I didn't try). They tell me that they will be adding an upstairs bar with an outdoor seating area which should be completed hopefully by summer next year (2018). Sounds like it will be a fun place to hang out and enjoy a beverage (and hopefully some food from downstairs). Can't wait to see how this turns out! For me, two things serve as a kind of a barometer for what the food quality will be in a Mexican restaurant. First, do they sell tamales, and second, do they have Valentina hot sauce in a bottle. This is the best Mexican food in the tri-cities. I always get the Chile Verde with black beans but that's just one of the many different delicious dishes they make. They have a great salsa bar with no less that 7 varieties, including a salsa for kids, and serve refried bean dip with chips at every table. Each dish is the right amount of spicy and flavorful for what it is with generous portions. 4 out of 5 stars because occasionally the service is lacking, but they're always very nice. read more

So good! I can't think of the name of what I had but it's a chicken dish on the lunch menu that has the word Fundito in the name. It came recommended by our server. It didn't disappoint. It's just okay because at least the beans and rice aren't burnt. I don't think chicken should ever come out this dark unless it's highly overcooked. It was so crunchy and hard that I could not eat it. There needs to be more oversight done on the kitchen. You can tell that they knew they burnt it because they covered it in toppings. read more

I've eaten here several times and the food is always good. The salsa bar has a good selection from mild to hot and a lot of flavors. The chicken taco salad had a good amount of grilled chicken and was the right size for a lunch special (5.99). Today, they lost two stars due to poor service. Four workers at the counter when I walked in, not one looked up. After standing there for 30 seconds, the guy started working and took me to my seat. The waitress took my drink order which came in good time but left immediately because she forgot the straw ( which I didn't ask for). She came back a few minutes later and dropped off the straw and almost left again without taking my order. The food came in good time. She did not come back asking about my meal, nor refill my water. I then had to wait for my check. They were not busy at all when I came in, but it did pick up while I was there. It was not to busy to give expected service. We used to come here a lot because the service was great the food was great we really enjoyed but now they are not. the food comes flavor less they are always having an excuse for why a certain problem is happening the last time we came here it was packed we finally got seated and we ordered the side table guacamole it was good the recipe didn't change but then we got it food and it was terrible, it was cold and didn't have any seasoning, it was like someone ordered it and then returned it cause they didn't like it and then they served it to us.
