My view of this place is more of a 3 and 1/2 star review. I haven't been to a speakeasy in a while and I've never been to one with my wife. This place was close to where we were having dinner at so we walked over to the place. Just walk in to the building and someone will greet you and they'll take you behind the bookshelf where you can't seat yourself. We took some of the low seats. Nothing wrong with that we were greeted with water so we had to decide what we wanted to drink. Highly recommend that you use your phone since the menus are QR code. Prices were pretty fair for the speakeasy. Restrooms were absolutely clean. A few things I noticed that kind of dropped a few Stars was that the Speakeasy was absolutely cold!It had to be about 60° inside. It took a long time for us to be served. Lastly, I noticed some of the staff drinking behind the bar. People here are absolutely friendly , you got all walks of life here and everyone here is having a great time. The staff are dressed for the occasion and it does feel intimate being inside this speakeasy. Overall, I wouldn't mind coming back here again. After leaving, you leave through the back door. I do believe that the prices were a bit High compared to other visits of speakeasies I've been to but that's more so on Tennessee's part for the way they Factor checks. read more

Fun spot and delicious cocktails! They're dangerously drinkable! The vibe is very dark with a lot of antique photos and there are some tables and couches. The seating area felt a bit sterile so I feel they could add some additional touches to complete the space more (like small end tables, candles, etc). Not much parking in the front so you may want to look for street parking before you get to the building. read more

I'm confused why some folks didn't like it. . . We loved it primarily because it was such a unique experience and inventive . . I certainly didn't expect a grand meal. It is in a tiny place - that is kind of the point. . . we had delightful cocktails, chatted with bartenders who take the 'drinks' seriously. It's DIFFERENT! And if East TN needs anything, it is something new and inventive! I think it's more of a pre-dinner bar to get things started . . . then if you want some huge meal, go there next! So, you need to get into the 'spirit' of the idea . . it's a pretty tiny place . . . but fun. . nice looking bartenders too and women never mind that! I didn't! read more

The Windsor Speakeasy is a cool bar in Johnson City. You enter into what looks like a little shop and then go through a door that looks like a vending machine. They only allow a certain number of people in the Speakeasy, so there can be a wait. The lighting is relatively low which gives a cool vibe to it. The drinks are unique. There are tables all around the walls and a nice sized bar in the back center. The servers were all friendly and helpful. We will definitely be back when we visit Johnson City again. No pictures are allowed in the speakeasy, so I wasn't able to get any to post here. read more

Great vibe and best drinks in town. Top notch bartenders making classic and also new fun drinks. Easy walk from downtown after dinner. No sign out front as it looks just like a shop and you enter behind the vending machine. It's on the same side of the street from Watauga Brewery just about a block up the street away from downtown. read more

Since our first visit we've been back several times and have been disappointed with each visit. On our second visit the bartenders didn't know what a Trader Vic's Mai Tai was. The kitchen was 'closed' but a bartender took pity on us and made us a bag of microwave popcorn. While there are some enticing libations on the menu, don't count in them having the ingredients to make them. Just order a rum and coke and you won't be too terribly disappointed. Last night was our third visit. We really wanted it to be a spectacular night cap after a great concert at ETSU. But once again we were disappointed. The waitress was indifferent and dismissive. Honestly, if you are running a 20's style speakeasy perhaps your wait staff can dress accordingly and not in a sloppy tank top. Again, the bar lacked the ingredients for our first three drink choices. The kitchen was closed again and there was no offer of popcorn or snack mix. One bartender was obviously was more interested in his girlfriend at the bar than mixing drinks. He was however making sure that his glass was filled and refilled while we patiently waited for our drinks. There doesn't seem to be any management on property and it appears that the owners just don't care. This could be a really exclusive spot, but right now it's just another loud college bar with mediocre drinks, no food, and untrained staff running amok. We really wanted this to be a special place that we could return to again and again. We'll pass in the future. read more

If I could give this place 10 stars, I would. First of all, the staff is stellar - friendly, kind, and so accommodating. The bartenders create exquisitely crafted drinks that never disappoint. And, their presentation is so sleek. And, the hostess is so gorgeous and lovely. I love hanging out here and even if I choose to come alone, I always feel like I'm among friends. You can be low key or engage, either way, the staff is cool. This is one of my fave bars (including those In Atlanta and Los Angeles). read more

We waited 40 minutes to be seated. Which was fine it is a saturday night! We were seated then recieved water, order our drinks (PARTY OF 2) And WAITED 30 minutes and no drinks came. We were promised twice our drinks were on the way. Two other parties came in after us and received their drinks before us. We left no drinks recieved! Won't be back. This used to be a favorite spot of ours. We would come in at least once a week or every other week. Silas was the best bartender; quick, knowledgeable. I can't remember the dark haired woman bartender's name but she was awesome and knew her whiskey. Emma was a great hostess, always on her feet, checking on people. The past couple of times it's like the life has been sucked out of the staff. Jesse was even a great conversationalist when we sat at the bar, but I've noticed a difference. Whoever the new bartender is, doesn't cut it. Slow, easily distracted by his friends loitering at the bar, not a personality that gets my attention. Even on a slow night, we waited way too long for our drinks and elements were missing. The new hostess didn't bother to help when it started getting busy; just sat at the bar typing on her laptop. Emma at least used to help check on customers and get their checks cashed out. It's just a moody, lazy vibe now. Even the music is getting worse. It's supposed to be a speakeasy, not a college bar or club. Pop and hip hop have no place in a 1920s setting. I sincerely hope a new breath of life comes into this place because it pains me to leave. read more

It's not possible to leave zero stars or we would. The place is so cool and we were so excited to drop in here while in town for a few days. The entrance is really cool through a vending machine facade. Once inside the ambience is so relaxing and cool. That's where the good things end. Once we were asked to order drinks and waiting over 30 min, I inquired with our server who informed me that "you ordered a Mojito and that takes quite a bit more time." Mind you my wife and I are watching drink orders being filled throughout the bar. After another 20 min of waiting our server approaches us to let us know she's so sorry that there was a mix up. That the two bartenders thought the other were making the Mojito. I can't stand a liar. I never had my drink even though it was brought to me and still had to pay $12. This unpleasant person informed me I still had to pay for the whole thing. Don't waste your time there. Absolutely let down as it's the number one place we wanted to visit while in Johnson City. read more
