I stopped at The Red Fork in downtown Erwin while traveling from Atlanta to Northeast Tennessee for a funeral, and I cannot say enough about the exceptional experience I had. I was traveling with my dog, who was a bit on edge from the long road trip and barked sporadically whenever people left the restaurant. Despite this, Aiden, my server, welcomed us with genuine kindness and patience. He was gracious, attentive, and completely unfazed by my dog's nerves, which made an already difficult day feel a little lighter. Because I was dining with my dog, I waited outside until the owner noticed me through the glass door. He immediately came out, warmly apologized for not seeing me sooner, and made sure we were comfortable. The apology was unnecessary -- if anything, it was definitely too cold to be dining outdoors, but I had no other option. Their hospitality made all the difference. As someone who lives in Atlanta, has dined at many excellent restaurants, and even wrote food reviews early in my career, I was genuinely blown away by the quality of the food. The wedge salad at The Red Fork is, without exaggeration, the best I have ever had. The fresh herbs, homemade dressing, and the addition of pickled onions created a layered, unexpected, and absolutely delicious flavor profile. I also loved the whipped pimento cheese served with what appeared to be homemade crackers and locally sourced chowchow. It was delightful -- one of those memorable bites you think about later. Their beer selection is also thoughtfully curated, representing a well‑balanced mix of local and regional craft brews -- IPAs, sours, lagers, and more. It's clear that care goes into every detail of the menu and beverage offerings, all locally sourced and seasonally influenced. I honestly can't believe such an outstanding restaurant exists in my hometown Tri‑Cities area. Between the exceptional food, the warm hospitality from both Aiden and the owner, and the overall welcoming atmosphere, The Red Fork provided the perfect end to a long and emotional day of travel. On May 4, 2026, we visited The Red Fork in Erwin, Tennessee for the very first time, and it turned into one of the most memorable fine dining experiences we have ever had. We actually went knowing there were no tables showing available, but decided to take a chance that something might open up between the time we left and the time we arrived. Thankfully, luck was on our side, and we ended up with a wonderful spot right in front of the large glass window overlooking Main Street. We had heard so many great reviews about The Red Fork from friends, and now we fully understand why. The food, atmosphere, and setting were outstanding -- but the real spotlight belongs to our waiter, Aiden O. Aiden was an absolute pleasure from the moment he greeted us. He was respectful, kind, attentive, and genuinely caring. He made sure everything was exactly to our liking without ever making us feel rushed. His recommendations were spot on and matched our taste perfectly. You could tell he truly cared about our experience, not just as customers, but as guests he wanted to take care of. His calm demeanor, professionalism, and warm personality helped make the evening feel relaxed, special, and memorable. Because of Aiden, this easily ranks as one of the top three fine dining experiences we have ever had. The Red Fork is fortunate to have someone like Aiden representing them. His mom should be very proud of the young man he is -- respectful, hardworking, thoughtful, and excellent at what he does. AMAZING!!! Wow, I was not expecting that. I don't know what I was expecting, but this was absolutely exquisite. I spent almost a week in Erwin recording a record and had multiple misses before finding the Red Fork - a "hibachi" place that doesn't hibachi, the most uninspired low effort dinner I've ever seen, and a smoothie place that can probably have your drink ready in 30 minutes or so as long as there's no line. My expectations were low to say the least. First thing I noticed when I was seated was their incredible whiskey selection - multiple top shelf scotch and whisky options - I had a double of Knappogue Castle. Service was fantastic, walked us through the menu options on each item... started with the cornbread cooked in bacon fat and I don't know what to say, I don't think it's fair to even call it cornbread because nothing I thought I knew about cornbread applies to this. The flavors, the textures, the presentation, I had somehow found myself in a fine dining scenario with a little circular bread pie blowing tf out of my mind, what just happened? I still don't even know. I tried several menu items of this and my subsequent two visits, and one thing was consistent between every order: ridiculous quality. Like, crazy good. Parmesan fries sound simple enough, but the potatoes, the brine, the oil, the crispiness, the cheese, the herbs, and every other ingredient or quality I observed was one that raised the bar. I didn't know fries could be that good, I didn't know parmesan could be that good. Was I supposed to dip my fries in this butter? Is this butter? Doesn't matter, who even cares? My life is changed, there's no going back. Chicken wings, same. Dry rub somehow as good/possibly better as the sauce, I start to wonder if perhaps I'm living in a simulation, nothing makes any sense to me. I should probably talk about the pork bellies. So, the pork bellies... ffffff wow. Yeah that happened. You know what, I'm not ready to talk about this yet, but phew, wow, man. I don't even... just, you know what, you gotta just get down and see for yourself. Treat yourself to the Red Fork. Experience the pork bellies. All of the different dishes that we had at the red Fork were delicious, the food was fresh and full of flavor! I cannot say enough about the service, our server was so kind and helpful and gave us great recommendations on the menu!! I definitely recommend the happy campers and the pan seared chicken, the wedge salad is also delicious and you get plenty of food for the price! The decoration in atmosphere was great as well, loved the map of all the waterfalls in Unicoi County - we will definitely be back! read more

I have been here a dozen times and have never had a bad meal. Service is always spot on. They have recently added some booths to the restaurant which I enjoy! Some items on the menu change seasonally (some people complain about this, but we should be eating seasonally, so I love it.) Local/regional beer on the menu is always available. I love this Erwin spot, and hope they stick around for a long time! read more

My daughter and I were wedding dress shopping around the corner from the restaurant. After our session, we decided to give The Red Fork a try. I am so glad we did! We decided to eat in the outside court area since the weather was nice. My rating of 4 stars is based solely on the wait time for our food. The restaurant was not crowded, but it did take an unusual amount of time for our dishes to arrive. That being said, we had nowhere to be, so the wait was great for catching up. Once the food arrived, it was amazing! Presentation of the Wedge salad was a masterpiece, as well as the taste. All the different flavors with each bite. My favorite was the pickled onions. We split the Parmesan fries, and they did not disappoint. I enjoyed the Aioli served with them. My daughter ordered the Potato Soup, which she loved. Our waitress was nice, kept us filled with drinks, and kept checking on us throughout our time. Honestly, if it wasn't for the wait time, I would give The Red Fork 5 stars. Was in Irwin over the weekend and stopped in for a late lunch. About half the tables were full and it looked clean and inviting. What a fortuitous discovery! My wife had the tomato basil soup and the meatloaf croquettes and was pleasantly surprised at how tasty they both were and how filling! The croquettes were huge and the sauce that came with them gave a nice sweet touch to the savory flavor. I had the whipped goat cheese with sourdough bread and the baked sweet potatoes with apple cider sauce and was also impressed at the balance of flavors and the portion sizes. The service was outstanding and there are several more options we'd like to try. Erwin is a little out of our way, but I suspect we might find our way back to the Red Fork again! read more

Wow, what a treat! We were sad to discover this place our last night in the area (stayed in Hatley Pointe), for we would have eaten here multiple times. We tried almost every small plate and some "snacks"(appetizers) and everything was delicious, well presented and sophisticated. In our home town of Austin, this meal would have been 3X the price. Our waiter Hayden gave great suggestions and was a pleasure to talk to (as well as the bar staff). You all really made our last night here special...thank you! Having heard about Red Fork for several weeks, three of us decided to give it a try. In addition to appetizers, they offer plates in sizes small, medium and large. I had the fried chicken sandwich. It was huge and delicious. A friend had the incredible Wedge Salad which had house made dressing and a lot of blue cheese (her favorite). The other friend had the fried green tomatoes and raved about them. Our waitress made great suggestions and checked on us often. We will definitely return!! read more

I'm a real food snob. I don't leave reviews on here unless I think the food is superlative. So -- not many reviews for this area. THIS new restaurant is amazing. I had the pork shank and it was as good or better than anything I've had in Manhattan. The wedge salad was complex, balanced and perfect for a hot afternoon. Also a sophisticated cocktail menu -- I started with a Folk Medicine, which was delightfully tart and light instead of sickly sweet. They have a lovely cool(ish) covered outdoor seating area that is dog friendly. Please come from Asheville, JC etc and support this place. Soooo happy we stopped in. Felt very welcomed right from the start and Aiden took excellent care of us. The menu is perfect because you can sample a bunch of small bites or have a full blown meal. My husband and I sat outside (well covered so the rain didn't matter) and shared Happy Campers (a special, pretty spin on crackers and cheese). Then I had the Lentil Sloppy Joe and my husband had the Pastrami Reuben. Both were excellent as were the Parmesan fries that we opted for. We tried The Red Fork early on a Saturday evening. It filled up quickly. We ate inside due to high temp, but outside tables looked fun! Enjoyed a carafe of chilled water at our table. Good choice of draft beer. We started with the crackers and pimento cheese. Yum. My husband and I shared the wedge salad, Brussels sprouts, and steak. All very good. Fingerling potatoes that accompanied the steak were delicious. My daughter had a cheeseburger and fries that she enjoyed. We split the doughnut dessert and ice cream. Kristen was a great server and obviously very experienced. Lots of staff checked on us throughout the meal. Will definitely return. Passed through Erwin and didn't find much. But I tell ya, this place did not disappoint. Ordered the Bistro steak. Sides were healthy and the steak was juicy and filling. Joe makes a mean Ol' Fashioned that will glue you to your seat til 9 and keep you coming back. Highly recommend! read more
