Olea has some of the best pasta that I've had, definitely highly recommend if you're in the old city area! Just a heads up, this Mediterranean BYOB is also cash only, and reservations are recommended since it's pretty small and cozy inside (I'm estimating probably only 30 seats inside). I went there with a group of 4 and service was great (super friendly staff) - the meal starts with complimentary pita bread, hummus, and olives for the table to share, which were yummy. We also decided to go family style & ordered 4 pastas to share: the gnocchi, fettucine, rigatoni, and ravioli. Usually when it comes to pasta, I find that the flavor is typically pretty one-dimensional. However, the balanced flavors of the cacio e pepe rigatoni with the lobster and black truffle made it my favorite out of all the pastas! It was rich, but not overpowering. The ravioli (not pictured) also shines with its unmistakable goat cheese flavor. As a lactose intolerant girlie, I finished every bite of that rigatoni because it was sooo worth it. I'm definitely coming back again to try some of their other dishes!

Wow. One of the best meals I've had in some time. The rigatoni with lobster was sensational. A dish like this is easy to become too rich and complicated; this was perfectly balanced. The fettuccini with shrimp and pesto was excellent as well. Same with the artichoke appetizer. Dessert, while fine, was probably worth skipping. Ambiance was awesome: small place, quick service, attentive staff.

Came here with my family to celebrate my birthday. The restaurant itself is very intimate with only about 30 seats, so reservations are a must. We were greeted with a lovely set of olives, hummus, and pita bread, which were heavenly. For appetizers, we ordered the artichokes ($18, Garlic white wine, anchovies, lemon butter) and beets ($17, Arugula, feta, pecans, red onions). The beets were definitely the highlight! For mains, we shared the gnocchi ($28, Bell peppers, sausage, tomato sauce), ravioli ($29, with cream sauce) and salmon ($29, which came with some veggies). Out of these, the gnocchi was probably my favorite. The salmon was cooked very well (crispy on the outside but not dry on the inside). However, I will say that I felt the portions were quite small and we left not feeling entirely full. The service was impeccable, and felt like a very personalized unique experience. Overall, it was a special dining experience, but I felt that the portions were too small to justify the prices. Also, they are cash only, so just be aware!

We loved everything about Olea. The ambiance was relaxed and comfortable. The staff was top notch. The food was on point. My colleague and I had the ravioli and they were to die for. Others had the steak and mussels. Everyone was pleased with their meal. The next time we're in Philly, we will definitely go again!

$ CASH ONLY $ Super friend staff. Delicious food. I arrived at the first seating when they opened at 5pm. Was quickly seated, given water, menus, and the day's special. Our appetizers came out quickly hot and delicious. Only complaint was that the gnocchi was quite salty that we couldn't finish. Took it home to dilute. The peach salad from there special of the day was my favorite

This is a cozy spot in old city. Such an intimate space. The service was so prompt and we were taken good care of from the minute we walked in. Delicious hummus, pita and olives were delivered right away. We ordered two appetizers; the shrimp and the octopus. Both were very good but the octopus stood out. Lots of flavor. I ordered the whole branzino and my friend ordered the pork chop. Her pork chop was excellent with a tasty sauce and was very juicy. I enjoyed my branzino, but was wanting a bit more flavor, perhaps a sauce? However, It was cooked well and was flaky. The chocolate pot de creme at the end topped off the meal nicely. BYO, so don't forget the wine!

CASH ONLY Great food, nothing out of this world. Kind server A nice and quaint restaurant located in Old City. This is BYO, so that is a plus. We ordered a whole bunch of things and although all tasted good, i wasn't slapped in the face with their flavors. There is a an option where you can ask for 1/2 gnocchi and 1/2 ravioli if you want to try both and not break the bank. $30 Overall, good establishment.

The food here is so delicious. I was also amazed when the waiter went above and beyond. I had asked if I could substitute the barramundi sides with couscous but decided against it. I imagined the original pairing on the menu is probably better anyways. However, the waiter ended up bringing out a couscous side on the house and it just so happens to be the most delicious couscous dish I've ever had. (I promise it's not because it was complimentary). I love the way the pearl couscous was prepped - it has what tasted like chopped almonds and some cranberries and very refreshing seasoning. The barramundi was very delicate and buttery. It reminded me of a fancy tilapia. My friend got the bucatini and it was so delicious she finished it all! I would love to come back again. This place is ideal for dates as well. **This place is BYOB and Cash only.

Had dinner at Olea with my YELP friend, Anna last Thursday and had a great time! Our server was incredibly nice and made us feel so welcomed from the moment we stepped into the restaurant. We really felt as if we were treated like family when we were at Olea. To start, Anna and I shared an order of artichokes, which consisted of 4 pieces. The artichokes were delicious. They had a creamy texture and were very tender. For 2 people, this was enough since there was also the complimentary pita bread, hummus and olives for us to share. For our mains, I really wanted to try the pork chop that everyone is raving about, but ended up going with the Bucatini since I was starving and craving carbs. Anna went with the Barramundi that came with its own sides. She considered subbing out one of the sides for Couscous, which our server was happy to accommodate. In the end, Anna decided not to get the Couscous and to just stick with the dish's default sides, which sounded very appealing too. It did not take long for our food to arrive. As our server set our entrees in front of us, he brought over an extra side of Couscous for Anna on the house, which was super sweet and thoughtful of him. We both enjoyed our dishes. The food was delicious, but on a scale of 1-5, I would rate it a 4. Hospitality, on the other hand, was a 6/5. We were too full for desserts this time, but we definitely would love to come back again to Olea soon.

saw this restaurant as one of the best in old city, and I was not disappointed. This quaint lil place was byob and cash only. If you don't have cash you can use the atm at the market and get a bottle of wine there as well. We got a bottle joanna and the ambiance was so cozy and intimate. Luis made the experience so memorable! The food was incredible. Save room for the pistachio tiramisu, it will change your life. Thank you for an awesome meal. We will 100% be back!

    The best pork chop ever!

Everything here is family style so make sure you order multiple plates. My only gripe about this place was that the plates are really small even for family style and kind of pricey so you end up ordering more. Appetizers - Crispy octopus and foccacia. So good! I'm not a huge fan of octopus but it literally just tasted like calamari with some puree on the side that tasted so good. Main dishes - Margherita pizza... my fav thing that we ate here. So much flavor and yet still so crunchy. For pastas we ordered the fustilli which was like a bowtie pasta with tomato sauce and basil. We also ordered the carbonara which was cooked suuuper al dente and was tasty; it was on the saltier side. As for the mains - flat iron steak and branzino. My siblings were literally fighting over the last bites on the steak and branzino lol. Dessert - Since it was my sister's birthday we got to try the tiramisu which was deliciously rich and creamy. Ambiance - It's sooo cute in here. Dark and ambiant, it's seriously such a vibe. Come dressed up and take lots of cute photos.

We were greeted by the bar staff who was great and helpful at giving suggestions for the menu. Started with (not pictured-- Bloody Mary and Don Giorgio drinks which were tasty for a slight hair of the dog) bomboloni which were delicious but with the rich flavor of the chocolate sauce, I'd rather have saved it for dessert. Also you get 4 and they're (IMO) too big for 2 people to share (but great for a larger group) because I was starting to get full. Entrees were the Eggs in Purgatory (perhaps an Italian shakshuka) which we ordered because the people next to us ordered it and it looked delicious--and glad we did. The dish was so flavorful and we left no crumbs. We also ordered the sweet Jawn pizza which also left us members of the clean plate club. The hot honey was just subtle enough but provided an extra level of flavor you didn't realize you needed. I'll definitely be back and look forward to trying their dinner menu!! 5/5 stars!

I am vegetarian, so here are my thoughts on the new items. Ensalade Verde: is the absolute best salad in the city. in the country even. absolute must get. it's big, however me and my sister still refuse to split it. definitely shareable though if you're not as greedy. Patatas Bravas: slightly different iteration than their past one. I think it's actually better. you get more potato's, more sauce, and the sauce just tastes slightly better but who knows. always ordered when we go Brussels Catalana: technically there is blue cheese in this, however, I am a certified blue cheese hater and I had no idea. so don't be turned off by that. first time having this dish and it was solid. good portion, well coated, right texture. will get again Pimientos De Pardon: shishito peppers were good, decent amount of them. I think everyone had three and we had 4 people. wouldn't get again just because there are other things more worth it but still great. Unknown Cauliflower dish: i'm not seeing it on the menu, so maybe it was just removed, but it was essentially a cauliflower gratin dish. I wouldn't get again. it was good, but lacked salt and was basically just a cauliflower in some heavy cream with a tiny amount of bread crumbs. Valenciana Paella: this has meat in it obviously, but I did eat around the pieces. if you're vegetarian and don't mind your food touching the meat, it's very easy to pick around. all the meat pieces are medium sized. This was very good, the rice was amazing, the watercress was so good. presentation was great. worth the time and money especially if you eat meat Ganache de Chocolate: pretty good. honestly interested in trying the rice pudding next. or just ordering another patatas bravas for dessert. shareable between two people. Passion fruit mocktail: MUST GET for all non drinkers! expensive? yes. worth it? yes. taste is great and it's also a nice thing to have if you're with others who drink and don't want to be left out. it's set up just like an alcoholic drink would be.

However I found it to be unsuitable to dining with a large group due to it being very loud and crowded. I'd recommend the tasting set if you want to be full when you leave without breaking the bank. --- I dined at Amada on Friday night with a party of 8. Typical of a Friday night in Philly, Amada was packed. It was incredibly loud, which meant you couldn't hear anyone past those seated directly next to you. Our server, Alexander, was excellent. Since the whole restaurant was fully seated, service was a little slow (2 hours for our meal-not tasting menu), but his attitude and friendliness were exceptional. The tapas (small bites) are meant to be shared, meaning it will come out at different times if you all order individually. The staff plated nuts separately so that we could still share while being mindful of our party's dietary restriction. We ordered numerous tapas try for the table: (1) chorizo Bilbao, (2) piquillos (crab-stuffed peppers), (3) tortilla española (Spanish omelette), (4) espãrragos blancos (asparagus), (5) pimientos de padrõn (shishito peppers), (6) setas (mushrooms), (7) torreznos (crispy pork belly), and (8) chicken skewers. Overall, everything came out smaller than we expected for the price. (Not too upset since it's a $$$/$$$$ restaurant.) The flavor of every dish was tasty, if not all a bit salty. The standouts for us were the: (2) piquillos, (3) tortilla española, and (8) chicken skewers. I really enjoyed the crab filling of the piquillos, the balance of flavors in the tortilla, and the juiciness of the chicken. In the end, we racked up quite a bill and were still hungry afterwards. Personally, Amada is out my price range, but everything was quite flavorful. For others, I would recommend dining at Amada with smaller parties (6 or less) to accommodate the loud ambiance. Amada is definitely better suited for a romantic date spot or small gathering. For better value, the tasting set may make more sense.

There was a young lady sitting in the corner in the phone telling us that there were no seats if we didn't have a reservation. Not the most polite but whatever. We went back to the bar and got a table. Why are bar tables always so sticky?! Anyhoo, we just missed the Happy Jour menu but it was only a $1-2 discount (except for the burger: $4). Service was pleasant and attentive. The food was overpriced for sitting in a bar. $30 for a bowl of ramen! (I don't know how it tastes but it's $17 across the street.) $22 for a burger and fries! $10 for two little bao with a single shrimp in each! Ok, that's not too bad since Bao is generally overpriced for some reason but I could have gotten more than one shrimp. Unfortunately, the price did not reflect the quality. My friend who got the ramen said it was in the bottom 25% he's ever had. My burger was pretty good but the bun was toasted and brittle and made an unnecessary mess. The fries--personal preference--I don't like skinny fries. As for the bao, the shrimp was too salty. I liked the finishing salt but the flavoring salt was too heavy. Also, it was drizzled with aioli and I couldn't pick it up and eat it like the sandwich it was. Overall, a disappointment. Mediocre food and an elevated price for no reason.

The tasting menu had three tiers you could choose from- $35, $45, and $55/person. We chose the $55/person option which included the full menu of tapas as well as dessert. They pick the most popular dishes to bring out to the table but also allow you to request any specifically that you'd like. By the end of night, we had a TON of food, even more than we could finish, and ended up trying at least 15 different dishes. All the food was great, with some of my favorites being the eggplant caponata (cold, very flavorful), scallops a la plancha, jamon & manchego croquetas, spiced beef empanadas, and the paellas. Favorite dessert was the chocolate cake, but we were received all the desserts other than the ice cream and sorbet. I may have liked the food experience less if I had ordered off the regular menu and only tried a few small plate, but I loved the option of trying so many dishes. By the time we finished everything, we had been there for over 3 hours (including lots of wine of course), which was really fun! The staff were immediately sympathetic, super friendly and helpful. Of course, as if I wasn't embarrassed enough, as soon as the 3 year old washed his hands, he shouted "I'm hungry" (is this sort of human I'm raising?). We were already in a restaurant so why not. Before being seated or looking at the menu, I asked for some fries to be put in and the waitress offered some chicken tenders. After finally looking over the menu, I don't think these are regular offerings so I appreciated them trying to be accommodating to a frazzled parent at dinner time. My vegan mother in law joined us and we were pleased that there were so many options for her. My absolute favourite (such that I had to order another round) was the eggplant caponata - perfectly sweet with a little bit of spice. It was so warm and comforting - exactly what I want at the end of a long cold day. My MIL's fav were the Brussels sprouts - they had a tang reminiscent of buffalo sauce and were crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside, textured heaven (extra bonus points for the 3 year old absolutely LOVING them - he redeemed himself). If you like hummus, try the spinach and chick pea cazuela. Squash is in season so I knew it was going to be delightful - the pomegranate was a combination that was new to me, but it didn't disappoint. We didn't try the roasted carrots (because my household is all carroted out for the moment) but someone one table over was gushing over them. As a meat eater, I have to say that the non meat tapas were standouts - I tried the empanadas, they were fine; I didn't enjoy the meatballs and I just wanted to order more of the eggplant caponata. All in all, I would definitely come back, maybe for drinks with friends or date night. The drink list looked inviting and nothing says intimacy like mood lighting and shared plates. The price (without alcohol) was very approachable - for $80 a vegan, a 3 year old and a frazzled mom left satiated.

We've been here before and it never disappoints…read more We made reservations through Resi which I highly recommend so you can get a spot. It's always busy and you do t want to miss out. I started with an excellent pear drop martini. The glasses are so pretty and the service amazing! Hubby had a delicious apricot old fashioned. For dinner hubby started with the loaded potato soup and then had the chicken Neapolitan's with corkscrew pasta. The sauce was so fresh and tasty. The chicken was stuffed with ham and cheese and the breaded chicken crispy and perfect. I opted for the seasonal risotto which had locally farmed mushrooms and artichokes. I added organic chicken and omg, so good! We will definitely have another meal tomorrow because it's so much food. We were too full for after dinner drink or dessert but hubby wanted a cup of coffee. It was cold but honestly, he didn't complain because the service and food was amazing. We sat outside and there was a delightful breeze which made it so nice. There were umbrellas that kept the sun away. Be sure to duck if you are tall!

Rosie helped us with our various questions about the menu and gave us helpful suggestions. I was initially bummed that they didn't have a traditional offering of soda as I was itching for a Diet Coke, but their tasty unsweet tea made up for it. For my entree, I ended up going with the charred corn salad, plus chicken. Cumulatively, our table also had the quinoa sweet potato burger and the udon noodle bowl. We were all really happy with our selections. The restaurant itself was adorable and cozy, which made it a perfect spot to unwind a bit after a busy day shuffling around the New Hope and Lambertville area.
