This is a go to bar for many reasons. The community most really respect the place and the owner because they show out for the events and make it a blast even if you're just there for a game or a drink. I will say, the pizzas are not my favorite texture but maybe that is because of what I got and my dietary restrictions but the patio is amazing and the side patio is even better. read more

so i had called around 2 and asked if they were still open and whoever the man was that answered he said it was burger king and acted like he couldn't hear us so my friend and i got there a little bit before 2:15 and i know that you guys close at 2:30 so i figured last call was going to happen when we got there but to my surprise doors were locked and people were inside and even though you guys were closing we didn't even want a drink at that point we just needed the bathroom and the girl working saw us at the door and said she didn't need to let us in so we waited outside for our lyft for 5 or so minutes and someone that was inside had came up to the door and literally laughed at us, i really just don't understand why this happened i've gone to this bar several times around that time and had been let in and served so? read more

I have mixed feelings about campus bars, so Oldfield's was a mystery. It's close to campus, but it's not like most of the bars. The area had more of a hipster feel. It's not as filled with douches. This may be since it's a sketchy area. I have yet to try any of the food. It's not much of a menu. The beer and cocktail menu is what makes this bar. It has a good selection of local products. The happy hour is among the best. It's also a very chill atmosphere. This is easy to be yourself and not worry about being so hip. I would say to check out Oldfield's. It's kind of dumpy looking but that's just the charm. The beer menu is among the best on campus so that's reason enough to come there. read more

3.5/5 Stars I came here to watch some March Madness with friends on St. Patrick's Day. Overall, it was a pretty great time. I did NOT try the food so I cannot speak to that and because of where it is located, I don't know how long it will be before I'm back but if you're in the campus area and want a bar to go to that is energetic and fun but also divey - this is your place. They have a pool table so that's fun. They also have a Touch Tunes jukebox and when I was there people were playing some awesome jams and it was really fun because the whole bar was getting into it. When we first got there, the service was really subpar. They only had one employee behind the bar and she was really slow. This seems like a bad idea on 1) A Saturday; 2) Saint Patrick's Day; & 3) March Madness but that's how it was so it took a long time to get service. That being said, later in the evening additional employees arrived and it appeared that service was speeding up a bit before we left. A decent spot. Plenty of tvs if you're trying to catch a game and a super-friendly owner who rings a loud bell and makes funny announcements from time to time. read more

The only bar still left for OSU alumni of the 90's. Looks the same as it did years ago with plenty of flat screens. New owner has all Ohio brews on taps & there's plenty. Their pizza's are still delicious. I highly recommend the Florence which has mushrooms & pepperoni. read more

Folks, you heard it here first! Oldfield's is BACK. Under new and much improved ownership, my old neighborhood bar is undergoing a much needed facelift after being bought from the previous owners who ran the place into the ground. I'm posting this as a new business because the name has changed, the menu has changed, the format has changed, the ownership has changed, and even more changes are coming down the pike. The new owner should not be penalized for the bad business habits of the last owners. I hope Yelp agrees. So, while this was originally Oldfield's Bar and Grill, and then became just Oldfield's after being sold, it's now Oldfield's North Fourth Tavern. I honestly think the original owner, who probably still owns the building, must be requiring that Oldfield's stay in the name, and good for him because this bar does have history. But that's about the only thing that will remain from the old format. Well, maybe the pool table. The new owner is stocking the bar with basically exclusively Ohio beers. Currently, every tap is Ohio brewed. To my understanding, this will not change. He told me there are 60 some spirits produced in Ohio, and he plans to carry all of those as well. Beyond the 12 or so drafts, there is a huge bottle selection. He's currently got about 40 bottles with plans to expand to 70 different beers. Of these, 2/3rds are Ohio-brewed. (I'll remind you that the previous owners REMOVED practically all the microbrews Jim, the original owner, carried.) In addition to this, a new bar-top is being put in soon (sorely needed), a patio out front is slated for spring, and a patio on the side is coming sometime not long after. This weird raised area that used to act as a semi-stage in the bar corner has been removed, and a full stage put in to the left as you walk in, with a small dance floor in front of it. This is a much better layout, although it did come at the expense of a pool table. One table is probably sufficient though. The bathrooms have been somewhat redone with new floors and a paint job. I went to check it out last night for an electronic event featuring drum and bass, breaks and some bangin' hard house and techno. Apparently this night has been around a while, but I'd never heard of it...for shame. I guess that's what happens when you have bar owners who don't know how to promote. I was so psyched to see my old bar back under the reign of someone with business smarts and for the first time in three years, it looks like my old bar might be back. A really fun corner bar. It has a pool table and a semi-divey atmosphere, but I'm a charming way. The exterior kind of put me off it for awhile, but I'm glad I went in. The bartender was prompt and nice, and happy to give me a recommendation. I would certainly come back again. read more

Wow. That is all I can say. What a difference a new owner can make. If you read my last review of Oldfield's, it is obvious that I had an awful experience and never went back. Recently, I heard that Oldfield's was under new management, so I decided to try it out. I am so glad I did! I went here on a Friday night around 5 PM to watch the OSU basketball game. Little did I know, Oldfield's doesn't have the Big Ten Network, so the game wasn't playing. We decided to stay anyway. After about 20 minutes, the new owner, Dan, came in to the bar with his computer and actually streamed the OSU game through his laptop on to one of the TV's! I was amazed that he took the extra time to please his customers. We ended up staying pretty late just talking to customers and the bartender. It was great. Around 10 PM, the place was getting really packed. As of last week, there are two patio areas outside. One by the front door and one on the side of the building that you can access from inside. You can now take drinks outside in these designated areas! They also replaced the small box TV's with 47 inch flat screens above the bar! How awesome is that?! The bathrooms are even decorated really nice and kept extremely clean. I am amazed with the improvements. My overall experience was great! I can definitely see myself becoming a regular since I live so close. If you haven't been to Oldfield's in the last few months, try it out again! I am so glad that I gave them a second chance! read more

I never got his name, but the gentleman bartender with the black beard and tattoos is absolutely the most incredible, hard-working, talented bartender I have ever seen in my entire life. We came for a playoff Blue Jackets game. The bar wasn't packed, but every seat at the bar and nearly all of the tables were filled. He was the only employee at this bar, running bar, dining room AND kitchen. This guy was Superman. He would run, get every drink order at the bar, fulfill them perfectly, run to put food in the oven, run back and take dining room orders, run and get the food as it was ready, deliver, and then take another round of drink orders. I never had to wait or even ask him for another beer, amidst everything else he had to do, the moment I took my last sip, he was right there asking me if I'd like another. He remembered my name after the first beer. I've never in my life gotten service like this from anyone, and I certainly wouldn't have expected it from an overworked, solitary bartender at a busy bar during a game night. To the owners, don't let talent like this leave your bar. Promote him or give him a raise because nobody in Columbus is going to tend bar like he did, I can guarantee it. read more

I enjoy this place because even on a Friday or Saturday night it's not overly crowded with drunk college kids despite being in the campus area. The draft options are decent. Their 2018 Fall seasonal cider was fantastic! Food options aren't bad & a lot of them are easy to share with friends. read more

You know, Oldfield's doesn't seem like it would be a hip little bar; but even though it's right next to campus, it's not full of douchey campus people, and that's already a huge plus. You can go in on a Saturday night and they're reasonably busy but not so jam-packed you can't find parking or get a drink. There's a side patio, a kitchen that serves pretty decent and decently-priced food (though the Irish nachos are kind of dreadful, don't get those--the sandwiches are pretty good). What really surprises me about Oldfield's is the drink selections. It looks like the kind of place that would primarily serve Bud Light; while you can, of course, get PBR there, they also have a good selection of beer and local Ohio liquors--even more than just the standard Columbus stuff. Yay, drink local! I've always had good service and they serve food after midnight, so that's a big plus. My husband works second shift, it can be hard to find an intersection of decent food + drinking + not a huge hassle to get to if we want to go out on a weekend (cos he's tired after work, yo). So yeah. Oldfield's. Funny--I used to live around the corner and almost never walked over, but I'll drive from OTE for the chill atmosphere. read more

Met the bartender and owner! Great people. I loved the color of the girls bathroom and the music player. Watched my friends play pool. Then my FAVORITE PART- the DELICIOUS pizza. Oldfield's is now under new management. Everytime I go in there, at least once a week, there is something new, and still plenty of new ideas to come. They also specialize in mostly Ohio beers. The bar has a nice hometown feeling, which is great for you to meet up with some friends for happy hour, to hang out at for the night. Food is served late, perfect for grabbing a pizza while finish your last drink of the night. The staff is extremely friendly, the longest I've waited for service is about 5 minutes, but that was during an OSU Basketball game where the place was packed with people. The average wait is about 2 minutes. The staff will at the very least acknowledge you to show they know you are waiting for service. read more

For the area this place was a pleasant surprise to us visitors from out of town. It took some persuasion to get everybody to make the walk but it turned out great. The neighboring store with the bars on the windows almost caused us not to go in but as we stood and discussed our options, a happy student looking guy exited so we entered. Two guys at the bar and a couple playing pool were the only customers. The place was sparkling clean for a neighborhood place. You could picture the offshift factory workers lined up at the long bar having a beer before they went home in the old days. The bartender was great. He brought water to the table, delivered our beer promptly and took our food orders for 3 pizzas and a sandwich. He was constantly moving and delivered our pizzas hot to the table. We were really impressed when we noticed that he was the only employee doing e everything and remained happy and professional. Popped in to Oldfield's for one on a recent one night stay in Columbus. Lovely real ale and very pretty bar staff. Fella was there serving a pizza and he was friendly too. Shame I wasn't staying here longer as the place seemed really chilled and the juke box had some really good tunes on too ( The Cranberries for one ). $4 a beer and the food smelt lovely too.
