We drove up and were surprised to see an old rustic looking house . Upon entering we were greeted by a very friendly hostess who seated us immediately in a booth . The interior was dark and rustic for a restaurant but actually had some very interesting antique decor. Vintage sewing machines , washboards and antique bottles. There were a few unique menu items that we were not brave enough to try , including an eggs Benedict with broccoli and ham. As my partner stated " the food ain't pretty but it's delicious " , and I agreed . The price was very reasonable and a good value . Definitely stop in for breakfast or brunch . This place has a rustic country feel. We came here on a Sunday, midday and there was no wait. When we walked in, there were a few staffers standing around who didn't greet us, but after that initial encounter the staff seemed friendly. We ordered breakfast food despite it being a little later in the day. I ordered pancakes, scrambled eggs, grits and biscuits. Everything I ordered was very good, except the eggs, which were a little dry. I didn't even finish them. This long time fav of locals still delivers reliable basic food. Nothing fancy is just right some weekends. The decor still fits a place named Olde Tymes with antique sewing machines and plenty of true rustic tchotchkes. We were seated fairly quickly for a weekend noon lunch Our server was pleasant *to start* and took our order quickly. The Classic burger and Patty Melt were the classic lunch fare expected and as generous a portion as the Olde days. But once we got our food, we were basically forgotten. Wait staff all looked tired and grumpy, unless they were gabbing with regulars. Smile people! We came out to eat to relax and enjoy your *hospitality*. Our empty plates sat pushed aside for over 10 minutes before someone came by. And it was some time later before our waitress wordlessly delivered our check . Too bad, because we probably would have had dessert had we been acknowledged at all. Instead when she came by again we passed off a credit card and were told she would be right back with the receipt. Another five minutes and we headed for the door, leaving cash tip on the table rather than waiting longer. The generous portions and good flavor at a reasonable price might bring me back, but I'm still wondering what has happened to simple Customer Service... Just be friendly to your customers folks and maybe act like we are all regulars and we might just become them! read more

I am so glad I received a gift card for the Olde Tymes Restaurant! I may not have eaten there and enjoyed a wonderful HOMEMADE meal We ate at Olde Tymes on Saturday night. We were Pleasantly surprised at the Quality of our food. The portion was more than adequate for our appetite. We were very hungry, we did not have to wait for anything ! Went here just the other day for the first time, had such a bad experience. The waitress was awful, i think she was the manager too. When we sat down she kept yelling across the room to us she would be right with us. I understand if you're busy yet she wasn't. When it was time to take our order she shouted out "what do you want" and as we ordered one by one she was clearly stressed and was rushing us. As i asked a question if i could switch my side options, she yelled "WE WILL GET TO THAT LATER NOW TELL ME WHAT YOU WANT" I legit was scared to order my food at this point. LOL As we got our food , she came over to check on us and REMOVED her mask to lean in and chat. I was trying to back away for she was practically on top of my food with no mask. As my friend asked for extra french fries as our food came , the waitress legit SIGHED, ROLLED HER EYES and said "WHAT NOW" .... at this point we all felt uncomfortable and wanted to leave. She kept giving attitude to other staff members and I could see just how how comfortable they were as well. Excellent food! Came here with my bf and we ate well. I had the healthy breakfast (eggs, oatmeal, coffee, fruit salad, and juice) plenty of food. My bf had the cinnamon crisps w sausage and eggs. Those things are delicious! I was in his plate more than mine. The cinnamon crisps are fluffy similar to French toast w a crunchy cinnamon coating. They come with an apple juice dip that seems strange at first but is actually delicious. The waitress was sweet and recommended we try the cinnamon crisps w butter and whipped cream and OMG! I ordered the small (a large portion, 2 inchs thick by 4 by 12 inches) fish and chips and was seriously amazed at how good it was. Lightly battered, not burned. Fish cooked to perfect evenness, and not greasy. As a sailor and fisherman I have traveled all over the USA and world and tried fish cooked a thousand different ways, and this piece of cod was the best fried fillet I have had. The food is super cheap and the service is very friendly, however, the food is just not very good at all. You get a lot of it, but I'm just not sure if it is worth the space in my stomach. I'd have to have not eaten for a few days before this food becomes something I would want to eat. The worst side was the creamed spinach. I don't even know how to describe my distaste for it. My family and I came to town for a concert at Mohegan Sun and decided to visit Olde Tymes Restaurant for breakfast in the morning not knowing the area. We had a group of 13 people so I thought it would be cumbersome but It was a great experience from the moment we walked in the door. Our wait time was less than 5 min to be sat and as we are walking through the establishment, I was very delighted to experience the charm of the place. What seemed like an antique sewing company in a cabin converted into restaurant, you can feel the history from the old sewing machines laid in the structure beams to the tables themselves being industrial sewing machine bases. The food.... OMG! Amazing! The portions were perfect, the food was savory, well cooked. Maryanne was amazing. She handled our large group with the greatest of ease. My wife and I are in Connecticut celebrating our 22nd wedding anniversary. We flew in early and was looking for a breakfast spot because my wife wanted good coffee and her customary scrambled eggs and cheese. I on the other hand just wanted lunch. This place was recommended by our hotel clerk and it did not disappoint. My wife got her eggs, bacon, grits, toast, & coffee. I on the other hand got the Turkey club that came with fries, coleslaw, and pickle. I know it sounds basic but when I tell you it was done perfectly! The crazy thing is this place closes at 2 and we walked in at 1pm. The food was still fresh. The even made fresh biscuits for a couple that came in at 1:45. Ironically, it was or first time eating here and it was our waitresses (Katie) first day on the job. She was so accommodating and friendly. The cinnamon crisp was the only reason for the two stars. It was amazing. The rest was gross. My eggs were room temperature. The homefries were cold and the English muffin was a hockey puck. In addition to that once the food was dropped my waitress vanished and I did not even have the opportunity to complain. When I complained on the way out they took 20% off the bill. I did not leave a tip in the first time since I can remember. Had they taken my whole inedible part of my meal off I would not have bothered to write. Done. Never again. What a delightful place! Walk into something that looks like the original Cracker Barrel and sit with all the locals who seem to all be friends! Every employee was welcoming, friendly and accommodating! The breakfast menu was extensive and the three of us each ordered something different - all delicious. I had Sarah's salmon, a toasted bagel, complete with capers, chopped red onions, egg slices, a large amount of salmon and cream cheese. I went to Olde Tymes in early May, 2022 for lunch. As a local I've been here many times in the past. This place is continually going downhill. The owner is putting zero money into repairs. The door knob to the men's room has been broken for years and is literally falling out of its hole. The dining area is dusty with cobwebs in the corners. If you look closely there a many broken/damaged things around you. The food is ok but nothing great as the prices keep rising. The server was fine. She was attentive and took did a good job. I just wasn't happy as I feel the owner is all about profits. I won't be going there anymore. read more
