I can't say enough about this beautiful bed and breakfast. Nancy greeted us at the door and from the first moment, was one of the most warm and welcoming inn owners we have ever come across. We started out the weekend with a complimentary carafe of wine and had a dip in the pool. All weekend long we were so well taken care. Friendly conversations, gorgeous accommodations, great recommendations and lots of laughs and hugs. Each morning the breakfast was well thought and absolutely delicious. Nancy's attention to detail can be seen in every aspect of the bed and breakfast. We can't wait to return as the Olde Square Inn quickly became one of our favorites! You won't be disappointed!

Eileen and her staff make a breakfast every morning that could feed and army in terms of quantity, but the quality of making everything from scratch is apparent in the taste. We had the Farmers Suite and it is perfect for a family of four with two younger children as the room has bunk beds which are very sturdy, safe, and will be a hit with the kids. Every morning after breakfast Galen will take the kids on a pony ride or a "train ride" around the property. They will also give you baskets to let the kids go into the chicken house to pick out the eggs every day and to feed their collection of goats and sheep. Not to be missed is the chance to watch and to try milking a cow. Galen, Eileen and their staff have created a true farm heaven that should not be missed. (The only big negative about going is that when you send a reservation request through their website a lot of times you do not a get a response for several days if at all without sending another request or sending an email asking about the status of your original request.)

All of the rooms are air conditioned and the whole house is extremely clean and comfortable. A huge farm, family style breakfast is included with your stay, where everyone staying eats together. We enjoyed collecting eggs from the hen house, feeding the baby calves, milking the cows, petting and feeding the goats, pony rides and hay rides. Couldn't have hoped for better hosts! Great place to stay if visiting Amish country, Hershey Park, or Dutch Wonderland.

I will preface this review by saying the town of Marietta, PA is one of the most idyllic towns I…read morehave been to in the US. It is a river town and is a charming place to stay if you want to visit the area attractions in Lancaster, Lititz, or York. The Ascot House was built in 1800 and has been lovingly renovated by Wendy. Wendy is the best b&b host I have ever encountered and I love her British accent and stories. We were greeted as soon as we arrived and were shown to our room (the Essex). The Essex room is upstairs and the entrance is outside, but you have your own private porch which is great. It is also convenient if you have dogs as we did, because you can walk them or go into the backyard without going through the main house. Wendy is truly the most pet friendly b&b I have ever been to as well, and made sure the dogs had a water bowl on the porch soon after we arrived. She will also pet sit for you if need be for a reasonable rate. We promptly joined another couple on the deck for wine and cheese and had a great time talking to them and Wendy. There are two taverns in town that are in close walking distance, McLeary's and Shanks Tavern. Both have live music, but McLearys is larger and open on Saturday unlike Shanks. We had a great time exploring the town of Lititz on the Saturday and toured the PA Wolf Sanctuary which I highly recommend. Wendy is glad to provide any recommendations you need and we enjoyed the restaurant she recommended in Lititz. Wilbur's Chocolate Company from 1884 is also located in Lititz. The dining room is very formal and decorated in a beautiful manner. We were treated to many courses at breakfast - one morning we had a blueberry cake, fruit, and eggs and bacon, and the next morning we had yogurt and fruit, apple turnover, and waffles with true clotted cream. You can also get your own pot of tea which is a nice touch. You should not need lunch after eating breakfast here. The Lancaster area is very quiet on Sunday so you might have to venture farther for attractions that are open. Our favorite activities were just walking around the town of Marietta and looking at the beautiful 19th century homes, especially along the railroad tracks. They have a Candlelight Tour of some of the old homes every first Sunday in December and we have already booked to go back to the Ascot House because it was truly that special. The Susquehanna is a beautiful river and is located just behind the railroad tracks. Yes, you can hear the trains go by in the middle of the night so I would recommend ear plugs or taking some Benadryl. I wouldn't let that deter you from visiting this b&b which is located in one of the cutest small towns you can think of. There are also lots of wineries in the area that I want to try next time we return to the area. Make sure you check out the Chickie's Rock hike which is very easy and has a great view of the Susquehanna.

The hosts, Bonny and Chris, are an absolute delight. We loved hanging out with them in the kitchen, eating breakfast made to order, and having great conversation! We felt like we were visiting our favorite relatives)))) Even though we gave it 5 stars, I must mention couple of cons. 1. The carpet in the bathroom. I don't like carpets anywhere, let alone in the bathroom. For various reasons it's unsanitary, allot easier to clean tile and hardwood floor, than carpet. 2. The train makes horrible noise, it honks for a long time in the middle of the night which is really disturbing. However, with windows closed you can't hear a thing. 3. Mattresses would need to be updated to something firmer and more modern and orthopedic. But I am sure,in time all will be improved and updated. Thank you, guys, again for making our stay so pleasant !

My kids are more excited about waking up for "chores" then going to Disney. Every single time we go (We've been there 4 years in a row) and without fail my kids are up at 6am!! Chores begin at 7:45... Chores consist of Vicky leading us in the journey of how to take care of animals at the farm. We begin by feeding pigs, horses, cows, milking the goat, greeting rabbits, feeding calfs, and picking eggs from the chicken coup which, if you stay in a room w/out kitchen, you get good old country breakfast courtesy of Biz & Tom. There is is a beautiful coy pond where kids swim (bring coins to feed the fish n floaties for little ones). There is an awesome tree house and play house. You can even make a fire and make s'mores. It is an amazing place to disconnect from the hustle & bustle of our daily lives and TECHNOLOGY. However, if you must use technology their Wi-Fi works just fine. We have made it a family tradition to go every year... looking forward to next visit. We've stayed in both the Hay Loft (you get a view of the whole place from here) and Chicken Coup where it cannot get any cozier.

My stay this past weekend at Manheim Manor was fantastic in every way. I took a trip to…read morePennsylvania Dutch country and found this place due to its awesome reviews, and now, after having stayed there for three nights, I see why everyone has been so glowing. Here are a few of the reasons that I thoroughly enjoyed staying at Manheim Manor: -Todd & Lorene: These two are truly some of the most gracious hosts you could ask for. In addition to just genuinely being nice and thoughtful people, they are also full of history about the home, the area around Lancaster, and more. When more guests were coming in the other nights and parking was getting tight, Todd called me to let me know a special place I could park in the back of the house. They are engaging conversationalists and make it a pleasure to stay here. I had mentioned to them that I was a cyclist and hoped to find some nearby biked trails, so Lorene printed out trail maps for me that I ended up using the next day to go on a ride. -The room: I stayed in the Peaches & Cream room, which has a great screened-in patio that made for a wonderful place to sit outside and read in the evenings. This was really one of the selling points for me as I wanted to stay somewhere where I had some private outdoor space, and this fit the bill. The rooms at the Manor aren't huge, but that was totally fine as I didn't have that many things with me anyway. The bed was quite comfortable as well, and despite the traditional nature of the home, they also had a Roku for streaming, which I ended up using one evening for Hulu. -The house and history: Built in the late 19thcentury, Manheim Manor is an exercise in historical exploration, in the best way. There is a downstairs library with a great collection of books ranging from Shakespeare to mystery books that I read as a kid (Nancy Drew, anyone?). There's an upstairs library of VCR tapes that brought back memories from just looking at the covers. Lorene took me on a tour of the house and showed me a variety of interesting historical points in its various rooms. The property also features a great outdoor seating area in the backyard. -The food: This is really a high point! In addition to being an innkeeper, apparently a great handyman, and many other things, Todd is also a refined chef and makes culinary creations that wow people every day. From the blueberry pancakes to the orange scones to the broccoli and cheese quiche...wow! Having been very fortunate to have visited many a highly regarded restaurant across the world, I can easily say that Todd's breakfast rivals some of the best morning means I've had in Paris, Tokyo, and beyond. There is also a great collection of tea and many other things that make breakfast at Manheim Manor the best part of waking up. Now for the bad...I don't have anything to say. I always try to have one point that's not overly positive so that my reviews seem more "real," but I honestly can't think of anything that isn't glowing to say about my stay. Lorene and Todd are wonderful, and all the other guests I met during my stay were friendly and neighborly as well. I have no doubt that upon my next visit to the area, I'll stay here again.
