This was such a disappointment. We arrived for our reservations and were told everything could be done through the Tock app. In trying to place our order, the app wouldn't allow us an order for more than 2 people, so we had to get one of the "servers." He came over, vanished for some time and then added our order - yet didn't respond when members of our party shared how they would like their meat cooked. We added other things through the app, but overall service was inadequate. We each had the 3 course pairing. Wines were not served until after the course was already served and eaten and the server seemed less than sure what to actually pair. He missed each and every course with a pairing and while he apologized at first and promised an additional tasting, the apologies were disingenuous and never followed through with. Furthermore, when he served the wines, he did not offer any insight into what he was serving - names or anything about the wine! It was more disheartening in that a table was seated after us and it was immediately apparent that they were receiving better service and all of their pairings with their food! While I hope it was not because of the diversity at our table and the lack of diversity at theirs, it does appear that patrons who were more diverse in skin color were being attended to less by this one particular server, who unfortunately was assigned our tables. This was our last stop to celebrate my birthday after visiting other wineries in the region over the course of the day. By far, it was the worst experience in terms of service, wine, and overall comfort (high tops were extremely uncomfortable). Made reservations for the wine, charcuterie, and chocolate experience. Upon booking it I was under the impression that we would get approximately 3 hours of tasting, with the option to order off the actual menu included. Once we checked in, the hostess informed us that the wine tasting was only 45 minutes and that if we wanted to stay we could be assigned to a different table and order like normal over there with a digital menu. We were seated at a high-top table with extremely uncomfortable metal stools. There were 2 other couples and one sommelier for all of us. The wine was warmer than my liking and the cheeses were not my thing. The meats and chocolate were good. Overall it was indeed an experience, just not one I'm sure I'd revisit at this location. read more

I have been a member of their Vintners club for a number of years and have witnessed their customer service decline significantly. The wine itself is good (I prefer the reds, particularly the Malbec and and the Cab), but in the last year I have felt a sharp decline in service. I had a number of issues with my past wine shipment which I repeatedly attempted to rectify privately both by phone and email, to no avail. First, I called well before my shipment went out to update my address. Friendly man on the phone said no problem, it's taken care of. I get a couple of emails saying the delivery will be a certain week. When it didn't arrive that week I sent a couple of emails inquiring. Both were ignored. When the shipment did arrive, the delivery attempt was to the original address. This was frustrating as I was told it was taken care of months ago and now I had to take the next day off from work to sign for it. The next day, a shoddily packaged box arrived containing FIVE poorly packaged bottles of wine. Mind you, the shipment was supposed to contain 6 Bottles, all of which have already been paid for. I immediately called the vineyard and again Encountered a very nice gentleman who apologized, asked which bottle was missing and assured me they would take care of mailing the missing bottle. Weeks went by, no replacement bottle. I followed up directly via email and was ignored, again. I never did see that 6th bottle of wine that again, I had already paid for. Another perk of being part of the Vintners club is a free tasting for 6 with a birthday cake the month of your birthday. In years past someone from the vineyard has either called or emailed to schedule. My family always goes and always purchases an additional full case of wine. This year, no call, no email and we didn't wind up going. Not a huge deal I guess, but disappointing after how I was treated during my last 2x per year club member shipment. In addition to the many cases I have paid for 2x per year since I have been a club member, I have purchased many additional cases of wine. Definitely an active, supportive customer of this vineyard but recently have felt the customer service has been unacceptable. read more

I tried the sampler as well as the what exit red blend. Wine was good, not mind blowing, but where they really stand out is the service. Absolutely fantastic place. The area is stunningly beautiful and extremely well-kept. The wine was top-notch (we got the Cab Reserve, 100% worth it) and the service was outstanding. Cheyanne was a blast to have take care of us and was honestly one of the best servers I've experienced in a long time. They have a monthly membership that is definitely worth it ($20/month for a bottle of wine and free tasting -- if you're local, get it. You won't be disappointed. Old York may have decent wine & food, but I have never experienced worse service or such rude staff (particularly Colleen). I don't recommend any large groups joining as the staff seems to undermine guests and rush through the experience only to get their money at the end and leave you with a sour taste in your mouth and no desire to go back. The manager was unapologetic as well. There are plenty of other wonderful wineries nearby that treat you with dignity and respect and have just as good wine. read more

Looked thru the other reviews, and my group's experience was so different so maybe it was just an off day. My bf and I got there before the rest of our group and we were immediately scolded by an extremely rude woman. It definitely put a damper but didn't want it to ruin our time there. Our entire group met up for a wine tasting. It was so much fun! There were different wines paired with chocolates or cheeses. The only issue was two people in the group ran about 10 mins late. We were profusely apologetic but truly felt made to feel bad. We were totally fine with starting without the two, but the man in charge of the tasting made us feel like he made a big show of waiting. Afterwards, we moved onto the bar and the outdoor seating. It was beautiful and a fantastic time together. But the group again was was met with a similarly rude man, in addition to the original rude woman. This was even though our group dropped about $200 on wine bottles. To our relief, other groups felt the same way, so at least we knew we weren't singled out. I personally didn't feel welcomed, and it tainted my first winery/vineyard visit. A quaint winery in the middle of nowhere, though I did enjoy the drive up. Very pretty scenery and all the staff were very friendly and knowledgeable about their wines. Came on a Friday, where a live band was playing--but be forewarned, on Friday's with the bad, there are no wine tastings. Seating was a bit rough, as a lot of the bench tables were on a hill, so everything was a bit slanted. They also do not offer any food options, except for a bag of cracker or chocolates for purchase. But they do allow you to bring your own food, so definitely do that. A little far from where I reside to make the trek up again, but I enjoyed my visit! read more

Been coming here for 6+ years. Just visited yesterday with my wife and 60+year old parents. It was my parents' first time here and it was a horrible experience. This place has gone way down hill and it's a shame because they used to be my favorite. We were a party of 4, they charge $5 per person for their "wine experience" which is sitting at a picnic table in a tent and ordering off a menu. It's a cover charge, call it what it is people. We were served in plastic cups for the entirety of our stay. You would figure $20 would at least get us a wine glass rental for the day. Total money grab. Didn't even realize it until we got the bill. The server came around and asked us if we wanted anything else a copious amount of times, which was ironic given the outcome of our stay. In hindsight, it must have been to get us to our limit and out the door. It was excessive and annoying. Spent over 5 hours here, so they actually threw us a bone because they also have a 2 hour limit but the place was at about 25% capacity. Spent over $150 dollars, a lot of money, and got cut off by our server. Their policy is 1 bottle per person no matter the length of your stay. They neglected to tell us this until we tried to order the forbidden 5th bottle. Horrible policy. Ruined our experience. We've been served by the owner's parents in the past and never heard of this "rule". Asked to speak with a manager and got sent some kid with no answers, who also didn't want to give us the contact information for someone who was actually in charge. One server actually agreed that the bottle limit was a nonsense policy because we could have gone to the tent next door or the tasting room and ordered by the glass. Embarrassing. Spent a lot of money here over the years. So disappointing but I'll be telling EVERYONE I know not to do business with Old York. I'm surprised people still go here when there are plenty of other spots in the area. Seriously, don't waste your time here. We certainly will not be returning. Shady business practices going on here. I recently went to Old York after having not been there since before the pandemic. What a disappointment. We were hoping for a nice relaxing afternoon enjoying wine in a serene setting. Instead, what we experienced was more like a loud outdoor restaurant (with a cover charge). Not at all what we were expecting; and not like it used to be. Please be careful when making reservations at Old York wineries. It states that you can cancel reservations if it is 24 hrs in advance of the scheduled time, however they offer no phone number to call in the reservation confirmation email that I received, only an email address to contact them at. So I sent an email more than 24hrs in advance and they have not responded to me in any way. I also emailed the Tock people to assist me with this problem. Hopefully someone is monitoring the Tock email system, since it seems nobody's monitoring the Old York emails. Or maybe they just like to make it difficult for people to cancel reservations. Staff is very rude! Will never be back here! My wife and I took a trip out here based on the reviews. When we arrived there was limited parking. As we entered the winery there was a rude hostess. We waited in line for about 10 minutes as she was not helping people in order, but instead she would randomly decide who to help. We made our way to the bar and there was an extremely rude and condescending older gentleman serving drinks. I asked if he worked there and he just barked out "what's your order" and repeated himself about 3 times. We placed our order for wine and asked what food they served. He said they only have a "cheese bag" and salami but he wouldn't recommend the salami. We ordered the cheese bag and he stated there was only one type of cheese and he "double checked that". It was a very uncomfortable encounter. We made our way outside and while walking out I saw multiple types of cheese and other snacks such as nuts and pretzels. I'm not sure why he lied but I switched the cheese for another type and bought some nuts. The winery outdoors was muddy and not worth walking around. The wine was average at best. We had a few sips from our glass of wine and left. I would definitely not be back here! read more

I understand that staffing issues are effecting many businesses but alter your hours or tables you seat for the amount of staff you do have to provide better experience and customer service. We sat for nearly 30 minutes waiting for a bottle of wine. We didn't order food as we had food the last time and knew better and brought our own. At first was really enjoying being here for the first time. Met my friend here for a tasting on his recommendation being that he's been several times and had nothing but positive things to say. Location is very beautiful. We both did a tasting and then had two bottles of wine and food. Racked up a nice bill. We came apparently on a night that they have stand up "comedians" come in, which apparently means they kick you off the property by 8pm. Now when I say that I mean literally, they do not politely ask if you wouldn't mind wrapping up when you get a chance.....they literally come over to you like a bouncer. Or one woman did anyhow. Let me play this out. I'm minding my own business after we paid the bill. My friend goes to uses the restroom. A few minutes until 8pm and this woman who was not our server comes up to me and I quote, says "Yeahhhhhh we close at 8 so I'm gonna need you to leave." This THREW me off so I go Ok wow, I'm just waiting for my friend to come back from the bathroom and we will absolutely leave. No problem. Then he comes back from the restroom and I'm just trying to finish the last inch of wine in my glass before leaving. Mind you were outside and the "comedy" show is inside the tent they've closed off. I glance at my phone and see the time is 8:05. The same woman comes up to us and manages an even more condescending tone this time and goes "Yeah I need you guys to leave." To quote Nene Leakes....SO nasty and SO rude. Like cmon. I could understand if we were being rowdy or something but we're a party of 2 sitting at the Adirondack chairs in absolute peace after blowing some cash at this place.....to have that happen at the end of the night left SUCH a bad taste in my mouth and was such an ugly thing to experience. we enjoyed the wine tasting and then sat down at our reserved table. unfortunately the service was awful and the food portion tiny! I had to ask for a waitress after waiting 20 minutes. we waited another 20 minutes and the food still didn't come out. again I had to ask to check on our order. the wine flight was given to us but not the food so the white wine was then warm. when the cheese board came out we were shocked! it had two thin triangles of cheese, 2 thin 1/2 slices of ham, two pieces of salami, about 6 grapes and 6 tiny bread stick bites. the waitress told us it would feed two people! Not one waitress checked on us and again asked for the check. we ended up leaving with no wine and starving. we had over an hour drive home and had to stop somewhere to eat. so disappointed. read more

We came here expecting to have dinner, drink wine and watch a comedy show. We come in sit down and order food. An hour passes by after placing our order and no food is brought out. We told the waitress and she informed us that our order was delivered to the wrong table and our food was being remade. After this incident, another 20 or so minutes passed until our food came out. I really wanted to love this place because I saw great reviews/photos...but there are a couple of things that made the experience frustrating. Definitely did not ruin the day, but it could have been much better. I had no problem with the service/people. Even when I called on the phone they were very patient and kind. Even with my frustrations today they still had a bright attitude, which I appreciated. However...the website that they have for ordering is very frustrating to say the least. One person is in charge of collecting the orders to put on the link, which gets sent to the kitchen. Now if it's one or two people, I can see that being fine. We were a party of 6 and it was a little much for me who had to keep track. Guests felt awkward to keep asking me to order something else when they wished they could just order themselves. We also ordered a couple of things that ended up being sold out (be cautious if you go towards the end of the day). I just feel there could be a better system. It was also difficult to try to flag someone to come to the table when we had questions. I didn't want to walk up to them too often to bug them, but then we were also in a weird spot when we had questions. As for the live music - way too loud. You're sitting under a tent with a guy playing an acoustic guitar and the volume is too loud to be "casual background music". The music was fine, but we had to talk so loudly. Maybe if you're sitting in the field it would sound nice. All in all: If the way you ordered food was better and the music wasn't blasting, this place would get 5 stars. They have a beautiful vineyard that's peaceful and has very nice staff...but it doesn't land for an outstanding experience. This place is better for small gatherings. read more

I recently redeemed my Groupon for a wine tasting with chocolate pairing and a souvenir wine glass for four people. The Groupon cost $19 total so it seemed like a good deal to me. The winery itself is quaint and beautiful. The wine tasting room seems like newer construction and has big windows with great views of the vineyard. The room leads to a small patio with tables and chairs again overlooking the vineyard. I have only ever participated in a few wine tastings and this wine tasting was one of the better ones I have done. The employees seemed knowledgable with each of the wines and were able to answer questions we had. Our Groupon allowed us to taste 6 different wines and the menu paired each of the wines with a Brix chocolate (milk, smooth, medium or dark). My favorite wine was the Syrah and I bought a bottle for $18. I would like to make a return trip in the Spring and sit on the patio with a glass of Old York Cellars wine in hand and cheese and grapes in the other. read more

We were almost charged twice for the reservation fee. I had to book two weeks in advance and was charged $10. At the end of our meal it seemed more than we thought coming to over $100 including the tip. We noticed the $10 reservation fee on our check. When we made a server aware she tried to make an excuse as if it was showing on our receipt but wasn't added to our current check (with a little bit of an attitude). We did the math and IT WAS charged again. We thankfully were issued a refund as soon as I showed my receipt from 2 weeks prior. Imagine how many people were charged twice because they didn't check their receipt. ALSO disappointed in the plastic cups used to serve wine, underwhelming overpriced food and small food portions. I discovered Old York Cellars through a Groupon. I like to look on their for wine tasting because you tend to get more for your money. My girlfriend and I live in South Jersey so traveling here takes about an hour. I figured it was worth a shot and am glad. The grounds are beautiful and so are their buildings. The staff is very friendly and helpful as well. After having our chocolate and wine pairings the server talked to us about their wine club. I originally was not sold on it, being it is a far drive to pickup the case. However, they have case pickup parties which are catered and offer wine tastings. Normally some of their new releases are available for tasting. It is a great time during their case pickup events. My girlfriend and I love their wine. They have quite a quality product. I probably have about 30 bottles of wine on hand right now and half are most likely from here. They also have any events taking place here from special wine tastings to comedy nights. I have not partaken in any of these events yet. If they are anything like the case pickup events, you will not regret attending! The reason I'm raving about this winery yet leaving it four stars instead of five is because they lack paved parking. The majority is gravel, along with the entrance from the roadway. I don't like this because, with living about two hours away my girlfriend and I took my motorcycle up the first time we came. Luckily the gravel was not very loose so I was able to ride the entrance road fine. I would still prefer pavement to park on because kickstands and gravel don't mix. Luckily I have a kickstand pad for the ground. If i wasn't a prepared rider the first trip would not have gone so well. Parking is also limited. Generally during their events people will be parking down the shoulder of their gravel entrance road. With how popular they are becoming I hope they redo their road soon! read more

We really liked this place. Didn't know what to expect as I have no problem admitting that i am a Napa wine snob. This pace was hopping, people standing in line to do wine tastings. Very inexpensive @ $7 per person for 6 pours. I found a groupon coupon while standing in there for a wine tasting plus chocolate pairing for 2 for $15. #Score Also, note that they have a slushy drink and today it was a merlot sangria. Umm, this was fantastic! I only did a "i want to try it" size complimentary but a large 16 ounce cup is $10 and they couldn't keep up with the dispensing. It was a hit! Im telling you it something you must go and try! We may have tried all of the wines on the list, but what we really enjoyed was a blackberry dessert wine. This was very fruit forward, very little sugar and quite a surprise for us. At $15 a bottle, you have to bring this home. They have live music events fairly often, and the #chocolatebythenumbers that you can get to pair with the wines is brilliant. You could also purchase (for i think $12) a block of Cabot cheese, crackers and a cutting board with a knife) which also is a nice option if you want to sit outside and have a bottle of wine. Were also told that many folks come in and have food delivered! We will go back, it was a great place and the staff behind the bar were more than accommodating.
