Wonderful breads, we love all of them but I'll pass on the pastry options. We've tried several but all are overly sweet(yes, there is such a thing) and lacking primary flavor, ie. lemon donut has no lemon flavor but is so sugary it tastes gritty. read more

I have tried Old World Bread more than a few times because of all the great reviews. I find it hit or miss at best. Certain breads are okay, others are very dry. Today I bought two cupcakes and asked for the fresh ones on the rack not the ones in the case, the cake was very very dry, and the icing was just plain too sweet. Their almond croissants are good as is the Cranberry Walnut bread. The molasses cookies are too dense and not very flavorful. The chocolate chip is more cake like and not very chocolatey. Their salads are small and too expensive for what you get and their flatbreads are dried out. Not sure if they are just making too many products and are stretching what they can turn out fresh each day. To sum it up, they are selling day old as fresh, or even day two old. We stop here for lattes on the way to the dog park...their coffees are delicious! We have gotten sandwiches there....the chicken salad and turkey BLTs are super yummy....any baked goods we've bought there are top notch! It's a great place to stock up if you are having company over! read more

Went the first time and they had yummy breads, pastries and dog treats. We were very excited to have found the place. We then went a second time , I believe on a Monday and completely different story. It was in the Fall time. Inside the cases and all over the baked goods were flies. They were also buzzing all over. It was pretty bad and very noticeable. That second trip and the bad case of flies has kept us from since going back again. I DEFINITELY appreciate the response from owner. The flies were IN THE CASE ON THE BREADS. Which is why we left. The first time we went this was not the case. This area is fly infested especially around certain times. We aren't tourists to the area. I would suggest springing for air conditioning so you leave the doors closed in a food atmosphere. My aunt and uncle own a bakery and never left the doors open to the elements. It's a sanitary issue and if the food department had visited when I did they would not allow the doors to be open for business. The main issue is these aren't just regular flies , there were fruit flies. IN THE CASES AND ON THE BAKED GOODS. Fruit flies are attracted to food. read more

What has happened to the croissants here? Did they change the recipe or the baker or what? Sometime over the summer, all the croissants changed from their wonderful flakey deliciousness into something on par with a supermarket bakery. The almond croissants, especially. They are now coated with this sugary glaze and all spongy. The savory ham and gruyère croissants are tough and chewy. Most breads are still great, but something has definitely gone wrote in the pastry area. read more

I called first to ask if there was access for those who use walkers - yes was the answer from a kind man named Ben on the other side of the phone. I asked if there was a spot to sit and eat our lunch - yes! The employees were are so friendly! The breads all looked great, as did the other foods: I ordered a pot pie and my dad had some sort of flatbread with tomato sauce on it. We also shared a soft pretzel with their special mustard and a cinnamon bun (we're gluttons when it comes to fine bread shops). We ate outside by the bike path. The entire experience was lovely except that they don't offer a restroom for their patrons. We drove an hour to get there. They offer lunch with a small eating area outside, so it was a bit odd that they didn't provide at least a single-stall toilet somewhere. We bought several loaves of bread, but I haven't yet tried them (I kept just a bit of each out, and froze the rest for later). They sliced them for us on request. We will return for the fine food and the lovely service! I'll just need to figure out a rest stop around there for before or after our visit. Open the door and you will smell heaven on earth! Everything is made fresh. I will cut to the chase and just tell you everything we ordered: Plain croissants, almond croissants, soft pretzels, baguette, sourdough loaf, frangipane cherry muffin . All was delicious! No regrets. Worth the carbs. Went there twice during our week long vacay in Rehoboth. Staff extra friendly. Love this place and I can't wait to go back! read more

We had a blast with our parents (who are visiting from China) in here. While it would have been nice to have a small taste of some of the more pricey loaves prior to purchase... the atmosphere is fantastic. A small customer service area has a view to the more-expansive baking area behind the counter. My mother-in-law watched in fascination as the dough was worked over. A treat to find a boutique bakery where the expectations for quality are very high... and as far as our first experience goes... our high expectations were met with every bite. PS I can't wait to try their carrot cake and/or peach pie! read more

Not so impressed! We are bakers ourselves and honest we're very disappointed. Tried 3 of their cookies and found them to be too cakey and dry, chocolate chip and molasses; maybe they were day olds? The brown butter cookie though was melt in your mouth delicious! Also bought a cherry pie that was dry and tasteless, no sweetness or tartness, really just a lot of congealed "glob"; suspect it was over baked as well. Sorry won't recommend and won't be going back. In all fairness though, will try their breads at the farmers market....and will definitely buy more of those brown butter cookies! read more

My Mom has gone to this bakery for years for the most amazing cookies. Over Mother's Day, we tried the vegan hand pies stuffed with lentils and potatoes, and they were OUTSTANDING. The pastry was light and flaky and the interior was moist and densely flavorful. We are practicing vegans in the NYC area and have tried vegan food at some of the best restaurants in the world and these hand pies rate up there with the best! :) read more

Beyond disappointed. Drove there to try their rye bread and baguettes. The only rye they make is a dark rye, but I bought it and the baguettes. I also pre- ordered an apple pie for Thanksgiving. Got home and we tried the rye and the baguette. We did not like either of them (baguette was stale). I was worried now about the apple pie that I was picking up Thanksgiving week...but I had already paid for it. I went to pick up the apple pie and they couldn't find my order but asked that I be patient. 20 minutes later they still couldn't find it, but pulled out a pie from the back. I couldn't believe it...they tried to give me a burnt one! I said that is not acceptable and they got another one from the back. I'm sure it had to be discarded ones, because when I brought it to my brother-in-law for Thanksgiving, everyone agreed that it was the worst apple pie that anyone ever ate. Needless to say, I will never go back and frankly can't understand how anyone can give this place a good review. read more

Met you guys out at Easton Farmers market yesterday, absolutely wonderful breads and cookies, NICE to meet yall

Walked into bakery before closing with mask over mouth, nose out, it's medically the best I can do. Since I entered shortly before closing time there was only 1 other customer in store who was in the process of leaving. Windows of store are open, employee masked and behind thick plexiglass. Halfway through placing order, employee told me to pull up my mas over my nose. I tried to explain to him that I can't and he told me very sharply that I had to "get out.". I obliged him and asked if I could order from outside the open window and he said, "If you want." As I went outside and am crouched down and trying to shout my order through the window, a mask,and plexiglass,... their outdoor tent is pulled up by a gust of wind and slams down on my truck which was parked in the gravel next to tent. Tent and it's multiple poles are lifted again by the gust of wind, 2 employees are now out there and are trying to catch it and start screaming at me to move my truck. If you can picture an out of control umbrella rolling down the beach in a windstorm then you might be able to visualize what they were demanding I do. The same people who were so concerned about health could care less if I got impaled by a pole. Of course within seconds it slams down on my truck again, but thankfully, not me. So now I am a bit piqued and ask for the number of the owner, who I thought was a friend, having been a customer of theirs since their opening. He gets on the phone and had the same tone as employees. Wanted to know exactly where I parked to ascertain if the tent issue was my fault, AND... there are no exceptions to his mask rule. Shocked at his demeanor on the phone, I tried to explain my husband and I are doing everything in our power to support small businesses in our community and with our medical backgrounds are aware of viral transmission and necessary precautions but that also there is a human element that shouldn't be forgotten. No impact. I have found a new baker,... but have lost a friend. read more

Amazing selection and staff. I tried many of their items: classic baguette, garlic french loaf, minted pea and Thai-coconut lentil soups, olives, and salad. They are all amazingly good! This is a great place for vegans/vegetarians - most their bread and soups are vegan-friendly. But they also have a good selection of local milk and cheeses (for the dairy people). I went rather late, so I missed out on their fresh croissants and other breakfast pastries. Definitely going back to try them out, though! read more

A great little spot. Delicious baked goods. Especially enjoyed the blueberry scone and apple galette. They had great looking breads, but they do not offer buttered rolls (us NYers like a buttered roll and coffee). No decaf coffee. Nonetheless, we'll be back. I've been fan since sampling items at Lewes farmers market (2015,16?) We were THRILLED when they opened 1/2 mile (walk) from our home!! We've enjoyed everything from quiche, soups, breads, cheese & desserts. Quality ingredients & expert skills make all the house-made baked goods/goodies/food flavorful, decadent, delicious & unique. Every single time I've been in bakery staff is attentive, helpful, courteous & friendly. This morning I called asking for desserts I can serve at my open house... 20+ agents, single portions or hand-held items...& can I get in 45 minutes!! Keith was genuinely happy to help! He listened to what I needed, put together a beautiful platter of coconut macaroons, variety cookies, brownies, lemon curd & several other items I never got to sample as they were all devoured! The platter was thoughtfully arranged, items sliced & cut to allow smaller sizes. The food -and people- of Old World Breads are consistently authentic, warm & wonderful! Wow!!! Just recently discovered this little bakery from going to the distillery next door!!! The bread aroma the comes from this place is delectable!! The baguettes, croissants, pasties, danishes, soups, artichoke dip are so delicious and very reasonable price. You can definitely taste the quality that goes into the breads. Old World Breads has the yummiest breads and desserts. One of my favorites is the cardamom bread - I call it chai tea bread since it has candied orange as well. It makes delicious toast for breakfast. The quiches and pies have the most excellent crusts, and the crumble topping for the apple pie is heavenly. We often pre-order for holidays and have never been disappointed. Want to try something a little different? Homemade pop tarts! Beyond the excellent food, I love the fact that Keith, the owner, is such a force for good in the community, especially helping young people to find their passion for baking. read more

Went there for the first time today. The bread selection is great and I am sure it will be delicious.So why a one star review?One of the women behind the counter was extremely rude and shouldn't have any contact with customers.We went in to pick up an order that we had made and paid for yesterday.This woman asked our name and we told her.She apparently didn't hear it so she asked again and my wife pulled her mask out(not off) and repeated our name.This woman,in a very loud and nasty tone yelled at my wife "put your mask on".My wife told her that she was trying to comply with the name request and was told to "get out of the store".Meanwhile,the two women behind the counter who were MAKING the bread and pies had their noses uncovered and when I brought that to her attention she told me to "get out of the store"..and don't come back! There are signs posted requesting their faces and noses are covered. The manager spoke to me and apologized for her behavior but this woman should never have any contact with customers with that terrible attitude. I'm sure it won't matter since they do a great business, but we will never be back. Update:The owner Keith responded with a totally in accurate portrayal of the events. The woman behind the counter did not ask my wife three or four times to put her mask back on since she never took it off. No one went behind the plexiglass. The issue of their employees not wearing masks properly and preparing food was never addressed in his response. No one caused a scene in front of the store. In fact, people came up to us and told us how poorly the woman in the store acted toward us. By the way, she needed a hairnet to be working with food as her hair was quite disheveled. Apparently, KeithWas not given accurate information by his employees. For her to say she was not nasty is a complete lie. read more
