Excellent customer service and prices. 5 years ago my mom was looking for Ocotillos for her yard. We couldn't find any at the time near us, but one small cactus nursery we visited referred us here. What a huge awesome cactus farm. They have really inventory. They are popular and things go fast. They also had excellent customer service and wrapped a section of each up for transporting and safely transplanting since they have a lot of sharp thorns. 5 years later her Ocotillos are still going strong. We came here again and picked up a cactus and I do not recall the name of it and it is beautiful. We came again this month to find an Ocotillo to replace a tree in our yard to avoid high maintenance, but they only had one left and the containers was so big we would have find a company to deliver it. We did bring home a barrel to replace a Lantana as the neighbor's tree leaves build up and conintually kill the Lantana there. Wow, we're we impressed. We had been searching for weeks for a healthy looking 4-5ft cactus for our home. We went to several nurseries in Phoenix but many of the cacti looked poorly looked after and unhealthy. We're so glad we found Old West because it was like cactus heaven. Immediately upon arriving, the cactus there look so much healthier and well taken care of. The manager helped us out right away and we got to choose the exact one we wanted. Shopping out of state for a surprise gift was super easy to do recently when purchasing an Agave plant and planter for a local resident. I spoke with The manager and others, by phone, who sent images of the planters (via text) they had in stock and gave detailed information about the initial size, potential growth and ideal planting environment of the plant. The plant was then put on their next day delivery and the recipient expressed happily that the delivery person, Travis, was very informative and friendly. He advised the recipient on care and best living environment for the agave upon delivery. All involved seemed very knowledgeable and happy to answer my questions about different plants. My only reservation on not awarding 5 stars is that the plant that arrived had 1-2 leaves that looked like it/they were dying but I believe if it becomes an issue for the recipient, she will have zero problem swapping it out for another. I found this place in intriguing! First of all, it's a beautiful piece of property! I was a little hesitant going here because I think of big nurseries like this for landscapers. But i immediately felt welcomed after being greeted by two workers. One young man help me through the entire process from identifying plants to meet my needs in terms of sun, soil etc. to loading my truck. He was very knowledgeable, professional, yet personable and respected my stated budget. I appreciated all that. This nursery offers a huge variety of plants and sizes. It's not a fancy dancy place, but everything, I believe, a residential person might be interested in sprucing up a property. I am fairly new to the area, so I don't think I'm in a position to comment about prices. My budget was for $200 and I left with seven plants. I waited awhile to post this review because I do not have the greenest thumb and all seven plants are surviving and growing and I've actually gotten several compliments from neighbors! I will definitely go back and probably make this my go-to nursery. read more

One of the largest selections of cacti in the entire valley is found here, and I'm talking about all ages/sizes. They even have an enormous selection of baby cacti if you're looking for something decorative, or for that empty kitchen windowsill. The main 12 or so greenhouse full of cacti near the office are not all of their cacti. There are several times more to the north side where they are growing and used to replenish the other greenhouse items. So if you're looking for that perfect devil's tongue cactus, Saguaro, prickly pear, or whatever - you're going to find it here. Prices are among the best in the valley, especially for the 3 and 5 gallon sizes. I was perturbed to discover that I overpaid at a different nursery in town for my golden barrel cacti. To get there, take the frontage road by the outlout mall, or take the back road just west (and behind) the outlet mall and follow the sign. The location is immediately north of the outlet mall itself. Interstate 17 is now widened and the drive up here is much more pleasant than in years past. Only negative is the pot selection which isn't quite as nice as some other nurseries, and their pots a priced a wee bit higher. read more

We purchased (1) 24" box Senita and (2) 24" boxes Totem Pole. Travis took us around the nursery in a 4X4 and helped us pick the perfect specimens for our backyard. Travis also delivered and planted. He did an excellent job and positioned the cacti so they would look natural in our backyard. Excellent clean-up. He also provided watering directions and the timetable to remove the anti-freeze covers from the growing tips of the cacti. Prices are slightly better than other nurseries. Many plants to choose from. Well worth the drive. read more

Most of the previous reviews have been positive, they're all about the cacti... my problem was that we ordered over $1000 of cacti and trees ,one tree was delivered and they said when delivering the tree there's a good chance it'll die we cut the tap root when we tried to dig it up,I asked if I could get a replacement , they ( Jose) said yes ( the next time they had a delivery in our area they would bring one) then they said if I paid 50% of the cost and 50% of the delivery ...2 weeks or so later, they delivered more plants and did some work for our neighbor, Jose waved when I said good morning, I asked about our replacement tree, he said oh I forgot.... we have never heard back from Jose or anyone else... make your own decision... ours is feeling burned, not to trust anyone's word... get it in writing.... read more

Bought a cactus from here and it had mealy bugs. They didn't appear until about 2 weeks later and I got really worried it would spread to all my other plants. Was able to contain it fortunately. The first time I went I was wayyy overcharged by someone and the second time I went the prices were way more reasonable. It depends on what person you get at the checkout. I got the same plant I got the year before for 1/3 of the price because someone else rang me up. read more

I am so very happy that I remembered this place and drove up there. I was trying to find a very specific cactus that I have not been able to find in the valley at other nurseries. The second I got on my car I was greeted by a very nice young man, very helpful. I showed him a picture of what I was looking for, and after a little bit of walking around (in 104 degrees) we were able to find the greenhouse that had that particular cactus. I almost fell over when he told me the price... it was drastically LOWER than I've been quoted everywhere else, and that I've found online. I also bought another cute little cactus for only $8!! I will definitely be going back there every time I want to new cactus. (I would however recommend going in spring, fall or winter, rather than the middle of the summer heat, oy, lol). read more

They do not guarantee their cacti. They don't tell you how to care for cactus, for example that the cactus will not survive under 50 degrees. Removing cactus from temporary pot was difficult because roots weren't sufficient. But since they don't guarantee, we lost our money because the cactus died after a couple of weeks. Bought two, lost both--a $120 lesson. Will not go back. read more

This place is awesome such unique cactus from mammillaria to myrtillo to aloe to astrophytum to euphorbia u name it they got it great prices most 1g pots cost $8 -25 depending on species I stopped by there this past weekend on Sunday before heading back home to LA now I regret not buying more ...the manager guy was awesome helped me out by naming species I had showed me the awesome crested saguaro they had overall great experience if your in to cactus this is the spot in Arizona .. made sure I had this on my pit stop when I went there and glad I did got a few mammillaria at great prices can't wait to go back to AZ just to visit this awesome cactus nursery hopefully next time I go they have more mammillaria clusters overall great great nursery .. thanks guys read more

Really wanted to give these guys a shot, we were looking for a nursery that had a really good specific knowledge of cactus, I called a couple days ago and he said said he did have the cactus we wanted but would have to check how many they had at the farm. We were wanting to buy A LOT so I would think that would think that would be incentive to hustle and get new business. Sure enough next day, no call. I gave him some more time and called back a couple days later (today) and this was the conversation: "Hi this is Anita I called a couple days about the Mexican fence post" "Oh yeeaaaah" "Yeah, I was wondering if you got a chance to see how many you might have in the 6ft range?" "Not really....." "....." Seriously dude? Busy or not it's a best practice to have good communication with customers and certainly don't tell someone you'll do something when you don't intend to follow through, call back, or even sound like you've made any effort. His tone was so lazy, "Not really?" Well we don't really need your services then, that's a lot of revenue lost. I wouldn't have faith that this company will follow up or care for you after they've got your money. read more

I was elated to hear they had the cacti, found their quoted price to be competitive and even got them to send a picture of the cacti before I drove the 20+ miles to their acreage. The next day when I got to Old West the price had increased by 50%, yes 50%. The staff member that quoted me the price and also sent me the picture said he didn't remember the price he quoted. I'm from Midwest and just moved here. Wanted to do some landscaping in backyard. Went to this cactus farm and was asking tons of questions and they sold me some plants, asking if this was around the same price as everyone els and they said yes. Then after I bought plants from them I went around and they were three times the amount for their cactuses. I would not buy from them, they would not return my plants unless I got a store credit only. Go to Home Depot or any other nursery. They are over priced and plant are small. Why would I do a store credit when I could buy three plant for the price of one of there's. Bad customer service. read more

I had already spent a ridiculous amount of money with a nursery in cave creek and was very unhappy with the quality of some of the cacti and succulents put in my yard!!!
