When the leaves fell this month it is clear the maple leaves had no real fall color. The tree was mismarked. It's too late to change the nursery error. We were helped by Karen at time of sale. She helped us pick the actual trees and explained each one. Again the maple tree was not tagged correctly. I see the nursery is moving to Dewey in 2026. The Dewey location has been a huge disappointment every time we have stopped in. The store sells a mismatch of wilted produce. Last corn season the corn was full of worms!! We are pretty much done with Mortimer. The new phone recording sounds delightful but I'm afraid it's a pipe dream. Do yourself a favor. Save the gas. Go to Watters in Prescott. Yes more expensive and YES you get what you pay for.

We're not in a ghost town, were at a garden. This garden is special because you can buy many of the plants. Some of them are not for sale, like that big palo verde on the north side of the lot. There are shade trees, benches, rare plants you wouldn't expect to find here, and about 5 greenhouses and outdoor nursery areas. Often the nursery plants don't have individual prices, but you can find a key by the door to the greenhouse. The size of the pot tells you the price! I have been here twice, and I've learned something both times. I'm taking my impressions home to help me decide how to landscape my property. Meanwhile, I'm working up a budget, because I have seen how much the plants cost here. For example, a big barrel cactus may cost $100 or more, but a little barrel cactus may cost $30 or less. Am I willing to wait a couple of years for the little cactus to grow into a big cactus? Time will tell.

I bought a Yard/Ton Of arena sand…read more Apparently you sell it by the ton rather than by the yard because if you wet it down in the evening the excess moisture around the pile evaporates by the time you open in the morning. I drive my truck on to the scale the guy loading me only dumped 1/2 the 1 yard bucket before leaving to top off the bucket only to again dump 1/2 the bucket in my truck. I get back home to remove the sand from my truck by backing up fast and slamming on the brakes to get the sand to start sliding out the back the sand has soo much water in it that nothing moved. I go back to Earthworks and talk to the assistant manager about this and ask for 10% off my bill and he tells me that all other suppliers in the area sell sand by weight not volume and he's not going to help me. Well since I'm up losing sleep over this and letting you know before I call the Arizona Department of weights and measures this morning at 8AM. It wasn't a big purchase Hell I had you guys deliver all my driveway rock for my property. After this I will never go back there for anything.

Jacob was incredibly nice and helpful--he even loaded everything into my truck for me. Since I'm not the biggest plant person, I really appreciated him taking the time to help and answer my questions. The whole nursery is very cute, well organized, and clearly cared for. I'll definitely be back to get some oriental plum trees next time--I just didn't have enough room in my truck today!
