We're not in a ghost town, were at a garden. This garden is special because you can buy many of the plants. Some of them are not for sale, like that big palo verde on the north side of the lot. There are shade trees, benches, rare plants you wouldn't expect to find here, and about 5 greenhouses and outdoor nursery areas. Often the nursery plants don't have individual prices, but you can find a key by the door to the greenhouse. The size of the pot tells you the price! I have been here twice, and I've learned something both times. I'm taking my impressions home to help me decide how to landscape my property. Meanwhile, I'm working up a budget, because I have seen how much the plants cost here. For example, a big barrel cactus may cost $100 or more, but a little barrel cactus may cost $30 or less. Am I willing to wait a couple of years for the little cactus to grow into a big cactus? Time will tell.

With Covid they have had some staffing challenges which has created struggles for them to come to the Flagstaff Market for a couple of summers now, but on occasion we go to the Prescott Market and when my job brings me to Chino Valley, I take the opportunity to stop at their farm-stand in Paulden! Cory and Shanti always have a great variety of whatever is in season or what can be grown in their greenhouses! Everything is so fresh! With a couple of storage tips from sites like stilltasty.com, the produce from here can last for weeks! They also have the best tomatoes and roasted chilies when the season calls for it! One year when they were at the Flagstaff Market, Flagstaff Chef John Conley brought Guy Fieri to the market as he was filming for "Guys Family Road Trip." It was just awesome to see Cory and Shanti being interviewed. Our friends and family got a kick seeing us in the background on the show! Right now they have dried flowers, but when in season, they have the most beautiful fresh flowers that last, last, last! Many varieties as well! So, if you are in the Prescott area and have an event, definitely look them up for your floral arrangements! Sign up for their fantastic newsletter at Whipstone.com that always has great pics and recipes! Don't miss an opportunity to check them out at the Prescott Market or go directly to their farm-stand! I'll be hoping that they come back to Flagstaff's Market soon!
