Just been dissed! Mother and I have been coming here for a long time. Tonight we went in at 5:30 - (always to sit at a table) - both of us are handicapped - can't get up from a booth - well! Just been told that the back area (where the tables are) has been reserved for a party. No offer to put a table for two somewhere - the place was EMPTY! We left. Stopped in for a mid-morning breakfast. They offer standard diner breakfast fare. Eggs, pancakes, French toast, etc. I decided on the chocolate chip pancakes. 3 large pancakes arrived and were what one would expect, although there could have been some more chocolate chips in them. The service was prompt and the waiter was attentive. The menu said that the breakfast plates were served with butter and maple syrup. The syrup that came out was a Log Cabin/Aunt Jemima type, definitely not maple. I asked the waiter about it and he dismissed it saying that's the syrup they had. His lack of caring was annoying. Suggest management simply reprint the correct menu so they don't give their customers something different than what they expect. If I'm in the neighborhood, I wouldn't mind stopping here again, but breakfast is definitely a no frills meal at Old Towne. read more

We have been going there for years and will never go again. Ordered 18.99 sole florentin dinner for take out. The fish was tough and old. I couldn't eat it for fear it was "bad". I ate only the rice an d had my husband take the fish back the next morning. All he got was an argument from the owner and manager questioning his vericity. If I could give this no stars I would. My husband & I have been going here for years for brunch & always enjoyed our Eggs Benedict, Irish Eggs Benedict or omelette. Today was horrible, inedible. My eggs were not cooked, the hollandaise sauce was like water, the English muffin made a pass in front of the toaster instead of inside it. My husband's was also horrible. This is a very underrated restaurant with quality food everyone needs to try their dinners. All the food is chief prepared with large tastes portions and should be rated as one of the top restaurants in Trumbull. I know of people that travel from Stamford and Greenwich just to eat here on a regular bases. I had the lamb shank and my wife get the salads with steak on top. The French onion soup is very tasty. I eaten there once but have done take out frequently - this review is for the take out. We've had burgers, salads, soups and chicken. Everything was well made and ready for pickup for our allotted time. Last night was a wonderful night for our family. We hosted a surprise engagement party for our son and his girlfriend. He proposed about 45 minutes before arriving at what she thought was a Christmas party,(he knew about the surprise).I chose this restaurant because of the quality of their food, and I was right. My husband and I think that this is a great place. Now, if your looking to surprise your palate with fine cuisine, this is not the place for you. However, if you would like a quick, easy, and very large meal for your money, that does the job when you don't feel like cooking dinner, than this definitely is the place for you. My friends and I came here last weekend for dinner. I got an eggplant grinder and they both got pasta dishes. The food was great and the portion sizes were huge, which made the prices more reasonable. I could barely finish half the grinder! My girlfriend and I went here last week. I have gotten take out here several times (usually pizza) and have always been pleased although its a little expensive. I think over all the quality of their food it pretty good. We decided to check the place out and stay for dinner and the place was packed, per usual. They were able to get us seated quickly, wait staff was friendly and the got our food REALLY quickly. We had a nice meal with a couple appetizers and we were still in and out in under an hour. The pizza is good, although if you have to ask them to not make it greasy...not such a good thing. Also, any other dish besides pizza is an utter disappointment. They add so much oil to every dish that it's not appetizing. Also, I ordered their rigatoni a la vodka...it tasted like spaghettios not at all like vodka sauce. Food - bad (greasy, gluey fish and chips, five frozen raviolis for an entrée, some sort of horseradishy mustard for fries...) Customer service - what is that?? Price - Way too overpriced! Trumbull does not have too many dining options, but if you want to eat out, give Crowne Pizza a try instead! They are just down the street and they will amaze you with their service and food quality! Just had a terrific Salmon Dinner at Old Town Restaurant. They are known for their Pizza but they run the gastronomic gamet. If you are interested dishes that cross many nationalities and a bar that will concoct any drink that you desire, this place is a diamond in the rough! I will never go here again. My family has been coming here on and off for over twenty years. Today we stopped in for some dinner. Waitress was nice but was too nosey for my liking. Brought us fresh bread as well as old, hard, garlic bread that she actually told us was not from today but insisted that she'd bring us out some "fresh" garlic bread ASAP. 1. Why would you serve day old bread? How many days old was it? Was it from last night, or had it been sitting there for a while? 2. Why would you TELL us it's been sitting in your kitchen... it was 5pm. They should have already had new bread for tonight's dinner out. Bus boy came to take our salad and bread plates away, but actually hovered at the table while my mother was still finishing her salad until she was done. We joked with him like, "one last bite!" but he was not laughing or pleasant at all. Just said "ok" - snatched the plate from her and walked away. I found this extremely rude. Each of our pasta dinners came out lukewarm at first, and were completely cold by the time we were half way through with them. My mother told the waitress about the temperature issue, and she told the manager on duty, who offered to have them warmed up for us - but at this point we were too hungry and said we'd just take the rest home with us. She was very nice to give us a gift card, but I'm not so sure we will be returning to use it. We asked the bus boy for three to go containers, which he threw down on our table without even saying "here you go!" or "have a nice evening!". He just walked away! We didn't even get the chance to thank them. Waitress never asked any of us if we needed re-fills on our drinks (we did), or a glass of water instead. Never asked if we wanted to see a dessert menu - even though we let her know that we were celebrating a birthday. She was too concerned with my boyfriend that ordered a couple of vodka pineapples and a french onion soup instead of an entree - actually asked him if he was driving home. Thank you for your concern, but he worked all day and had already eaten dinner, and it was his birthday! He deserved a couple of drinks if he wanted them, and he was in no way annoying or picky. The drinks were clearly watered down because he drank four cocktails and was not even buzzed. He attempted to joke with her to lighten up the awkward conversation, but she persisted on worrying about him. He was with his family, two adults in their fifties, and three twenty-somethings that could gladly drive him home, as if he wasn't driving home with us anyway. My review is based on pizza and dinners. We usually do take out so my review isn't based on sit down service. Pizza is a nice thick crust, TONS of pizza specials, and options for toppings. We order pizza every Friday and they never disappoint. Always warm and delicious. There dinners are also equally as good. We usually get the classic chicken dishes which are always really tasty. Yeah so we got catering from here twice. First time they forgot a whole tray of food. They have it to someone else. How on earth do you manage that?? Second time the food was really just awful. Dry chicken. Yum. And now the third time was today.y family just got done with a wake for my grandma that we have been planning and dealin with all week. We walk in. There's almost no one in the restaurant (like maybe 5 tables of 4 or less tops?) and we ask for a table of 9 and the guy goes "Oh great! No reservation!" Like really rudely and it was as he was walking away so we weren't supposed to hear it. Yeah that wasn't funny. Asshole. I'd understand the reservation if it was packed but you have no one! I am beyond baffled by the ignorance of the owner of the old towne restaurant in Trumbull. The instant we walked in we were asked for "certification paperwork" for my service dog. As stated by federal law, it is illegal to ask for service dog "paperwork" (which doesn't even exist) so she then claimed per the health department she is allowed to ask. I handed her the ADA business card with information and a phone number to call. She goes in the back, returns and said that no one answered but she will seat after a few questions. I informed her that she can only ask two questions 1- is it a service dog? (Even though my dog is wear a vest with two patches and a leash wrap that says "working service dog, do not approach" and 2- what tasks does it perform? After answering these questions for her, she rudely seated us in the back of the restaurant away from the other patrons, threw the silverware and menus on the table and begrudgingly said "have a nice dinner" without even looking at us. From the moment we walked into the restaurant, we were talked down to and berated because we had a service animal with us. Needless to say, we will NOT be returning to this establishment, after the ignorance displayed by the owner. read more

Meh. That is literally how I feel. Take out. Hubs got ravioli and marinara. I ordered a caprese sandwich, and instead of chicken, I requested eggplant and add avocado. The ravioli dinner comes with bread and a side salad. Each piece of bread came individually wrapped, and they sent the salad dressing, but not the salad. Obviously frozen and not home made, but hubs isn't that picky with his basic food selections. The sandwich comes with fries, pickle, and cole slaw. The portion was huge, but the eggplant was so oily and mushy, it was hard to eat. The pickle was placed in with the sandwich, and I could not get the smell off my fingers and felt the sandwich smelled like it and also had another faint odor, probably something from not cleaning the flat top grill off properly. We did double check that everything was vegetarian. I ended up putting my sandwich in the waffle iron to really cook off the grease and oil. It became a meh grilled cheese type sandwich. The bread was not what I expected when they said, "panini bread". I expected nice panini press marks with soft, yet crusty on the outside bread. When they said balsamic drizzle, the sandwich was just soggy on top of the already too greasy pile. Lacked an appropriate cheese to eggplant to basil to tomato to avocado to bread ratio. Appreciated that the person who took the take out order did ask the kitchen some questions that we had, but it is posted on the menu how knowledgeable the staff is. Sorry. Will keep trying new surrounding spots. Was hoping for a go to place for any kind of food. For the price and the quality, we will be moving on... read more

It is a really good place to avoid. The Pizza is fine for take out but not spectacular. My wife and kids went last week and waited 40 minutes for a pizza and a burrito. That is not fun with a 4 and 6 year old. A group of us from work wanted to go out for dinner and some fun. We had heard great things about the food at this restaurant. Even though it was further than we usually travel, we thought we would give it a try. WOW! We were NOT disappointed. The food was fabulous. The menu is very creative and has something for everyone, including special diets. Standouts are the Calamari, the Eggplant Torte and the Norwegian Salmon special, to name just a few. And the surprises didn't stop when the dinner was over, the homemade desserts are amazing. Our group favorite was the amaretto rice pudding! And I personally highly recommend the Mudslide martini. I am a long time patron of this restaurant. I came in today for Mother's Day with my mother, mother in law and sister in law. We had a reservation for 11am. We ordered our food and it wasn't ready for a full hour! By the time our food came it was cold and gross. I was so disappointed and felt terrible that on Mother's Day of all days our special brunch sucked. The waitress kept coming over every 10 minutes to say our order would be out soon and that it wasn't her fault, etc. The whole experience left a bad taste in my mouth(literally).
