I'm usually a really big fan of this place, but I must say there is a definite difference between coming at lunch and coming at a normal dinner time. During my last visit, I came around 7:15-7:30 (for reference, they close at 8:30), and most of my favorites were already gone. I kept waiting for someone to refill them, but I guess because it was closer to close, no one ever did. It's tough as the flat price always stays the same even if your favorites aren't available. I usually leave this place feeling stuffed, but on this visit, I still felt hungry. We are always seated very quickly here. They also get you your drinks quickly and regularly clear out your dirty plates. They do give you your check rather quickly which sometimes feels like they're kicking you out, but you can obviously stay past getting that. Nice, low-key environment inside. I would definitely come during the day when planning your next visit. read more

When I went to Old Town Buffet in Ohio after hearing about it from my friend, I was pretty not surprised given it;s pretty much the same like Old Country Buffet as with the food goes. So when I was getting my drink one of the employees caught me because I was getting soda instead of water!, so I apologized to her. But, you know the food, service & ambiance is pretty much the same like Old Country Buffet expect from the decoration even though Old Country Buffet is closed. One of several Chinese buffets in this area, and my personal favorite. For starters, the decor is beautiful and subtle. It's well kept and maintained and the staff is amazing! They are always so kind and attentive to drink refills and etc. The selection is about average. We love Old Town Buffet! They have plenty of food selection and they have sushi here too. I do wish they had the noodle spot open, but they still have plenty to choose from. I am always more than full when I leave this place. I like their crab Rangoon and the cheesy baked mussels! We love how friendly everyone is, especially since we are repeat customers. Service at a buffet is minimal. Ambience was dark. Stuffed mushrooms, clams and mussels were excellent. CX & broccoli very good. Cold shrimp good. Some selections overcooked or leftovers perhaps. read more

The best of the BG buffets. Sushi is pretty good. Not thick or large but adequate. the make your own station is pretty decent and always freshly made. Chicken and Broccolli is usually good if it hasn't been sitting. Same is true for the Red Snapper and most of the other items. I tend to put on my plate the last item brought out. Crab legs aren't the best, my favorite dish is a cold crab salad by the rubber calamari and the Kimchi. read more

My son wanted to go to a Chinese buffet for his birthday dinner this year, so we selected Old Town Buffet. Arriving just after 5pm, our party of five was immediately seated near the middle of the spotlessly clean restaurant. While the establishment's name did not exactly broadcast that it was a Chinese restaurant, the décor inside left no doubt! After ordering four waters and a root beer for the birthday boy, we proceeded to the well-stocked buffet tables. Starting off with fried rice, I found it pretty typical, but was impressed with the very good flavour of the honey chicken and loved the stuffed mushrooms I picked for my second plate. My third trip was to the sushi bar for an eclectic selection of California and Philadelphia rolls, maki, and nigiri sushi, all of which were good, but nothing spectacular. For my fourth trip, I went to the hibachi, where a smiling but otherwise non-communicative gentleman expertly cooked -teppanyaki style- my selection of shrimp, snow pea pods, onions, carrots, and celery. On my fifth trip to the buffet, I tried a serving of Mongolian beef which ended up being bland and exceptionally chewy, as well as some excellent stir fried string beans, which were perfectly prepared with just the right amount of garlic. My sixth plate of food was made up of gooey coconut shrimp that had a good taste but awful texture, overly dry baked salmon, and exquisite chunks of Korean barbecue beef. Beginning to feel some level of satiation, for my seventh trip I selected three different pastries from the dessert table, all of which ended up being equally dry and bland, as well as a couple of very tasty lychee fruit. On my eighth and final trip I picked a couple of different, but pretty standard flavours of ice cream from the freezer. The wait staff, while limited in their English repertoire, did an excellent job of refilling our drinks and whisking away our used plates. Likewise when it came to checking out, the cashier was equally speedy and efficient. All told, our bill came to $58.90 before tax and tip, which felt pretty typical for a Friday night buffet. For food which ranged in flavour from average to very good, an excellent selection, and attentive staff, I rate Old Town Buffet as being Very Good, and will definitely be back! read more

Its about average tasting Chinese food. People say it's the best in BG, but that is not saying much since the other places in BG aren't edible. The last time we went to Old Town Buffet, they charged me twice for our meals. I came right back after the bank notified me of the double charge and the woman had no idea what I was saying to her. It would have been nice to speak to a manager, but we got her to give me MOST of my money back. I felt horrible about the experience, but if she was the only one working than she needs to learn how to handle customers better. The food is usually sitting out most of the day and really dry. Chinese Buffet is always fun with family. As far as they go this one was eh fun... Some interesting items on the buffet but overall decent. They do have sushi which was good and a fresh stir fry on Friday and Saturday. Atmosphere was dreary and tired. The food itself was hot but lacked flavor. The best buffet in Bowling Green. Every good city had its Chinese buffet. You've been to one, you've been them all. That said, it is not a downgrade, as I never come out of here with an empty stomach or an empty wallet. Good for big groups and has a variety of different dishes. It is no necessarily traditional Chinese, but then again, most buffets are not. It tends to be more in the Americanized side, especially seeing how having lived on the west coast, my pallette has evolved drastically, as well as the Chinese side of my family. Here, you'll find your expected and still tasty, Sweet & Sour chicken/pork, Chicken and broccoli, steamed rice, fried rice, crab legs (for an extra price), sushi, Hibachi, Crab ragoon, fish, mozzarella sticks, etc. The drinks are the same as well, where you can expect Pepsi products and the option for hot tea as well. The point is, you most likely know what you are going to get in terms of variety and service. read more

This place has become a disappointment. Stopped in for lunch. I felt like my knees were in my chest when I sat down in a fabric torn booth. The laminate on the table top was cracking. The Windows were covered with damaged blinds and dirty shades. Should have walked out right then, except for I was meeting two other people. The food was ho-hum, and not much flavor. Egg drop soup tasted like yellow oil with eggs whisked in. All the chicken choices were chewy. Salmon was dried out and blah. Service was non-existent. Me and my father use to come here to eat whenever we wanted to have Chinese food. Not anymore. The quality of the food has declined and so has the service. In our last visit we stopped by for dinner and found that much of the food that was out wasn't fresh (some of it even dried out), the sweet and sour sauce had condenced into a thick gel, and our waitress neglected our booth for just about the entire time we were there (we never had a chance to ask for drink refills and she only quickly stopped to pick up plates near the end of our visit). Worst experience ever. I don't know why we even tried it again. This time we went for my son to get crab legs. The crab legs were stale. Some were red others were orange. I don't know if they were fully cooked or what. The meat on sticks was dry. The egg rolls had no taste. The booth we were sitting in was not made for tall people. The only thing that was good was the rice, and eating rice shouldn't cost me $35. There is a good selection, but it's all crap. Even the macaroni and cheese had a film on it. we got there about 3pm on a saturday and there was hardly anybody in there. which was bad, because the food had been sitting on the hot buffet for so long that most of it was dried out and rubbery and mushy and not very hot. i wanted to make a fresh stir fry dish but they wouldnt get a cook to help me. we eat there probably 4-6 six times a year when we are in town for business or going to the movie theater. our waitress was nasty and rude with us and refused to bring us refills on our drinks. i had orderd coffee when it was 10 degrees outside and she refused, saying they didnt have any made. really????? i went to the bathroom and my wife asked for coffee when she came back to the table without knowing i had asked and she said the waitress said the same thing to her but she just stared her down and the older asian waitress then relented. when i came back and saw my wife's coffee, i asked her for coffee too and she told me they were out. i told her to make another pot and glared at her. she mumbled a bunch of asian words under her breath and pulled another waitress aside and made a bunch of comments to her under her breath and pointed at us. i got pissed and just began glaring at her. i then saw her use the hot tap on the coffee machine and use instant coffee in a coffee cup. that is all it would take to make us a cup of coffee. oh, and by the way, the temperature in the restaurant was about 50 degrees and we left our coats on to stay warm. i was very angry and we probably wont eat here anymore. by the way, when i say we come in here when in town for business, we usually have three to five crew members so our order is usually 50-75 bucks. read more
