The Old Pink has been around since before I was born and is a Buffalo/Allentown landmark. The bar hasn't changed since I was younger and that's what makes it great and nostalgic. When I'm around Allen St. or out for the art festival, we always stop by for a cocktail.

Allentown is a cool section of Buffalo and Old Pink is no exception. It's absolutely the epitome of a cool dive bar. The prices are reasonable and the bartenders are super cool. I don't understand the negative reviews by some here on Yelp. Perhaps not understanding the concept of a dive bar? Anyway we had a cool experience and a great tasting steak sandwich. If I lived in Buffalo, this is a bar I would frequent.

The steak sandwich was as good as everyone says, and i thought the price was very fair too.

I'd be somewhat frightened to see what the Old Pink looks like in the light of day. But if you are cool with a dive bar, and like a good very-late-night greasy sandwich, the Old Pink is known for being the best in town on both accounts. Nestled in the heart of Allentown, parking can be tricky. But once you walk, or stumble, your way to the Old Pink, it is a fun experience. They offer three sandwiches made behind the bar: a cheeseburger, fried bologna, and their marquee steak sandwich. The steak sandwich is not a philly-chopped steak. It is a thick steak filet that is topped with peppers, onions, and cheese on a grill-warmed bun. I don't eat meat, normally the hubbs doesn't either, but he'll bend his rules sometimes when eating out. And the Old Pink steak sandwich is a rule-bender for him. He asserts that it is the best steak sandwich in the city, one of the best he's ever had. I saw a fried bologna coming off the grill, and it was two thick slabs double-decked with cheese, peppers, and onions on a warmed bun, that also looked very well made. So if you can stomach the ramshackle appearance of the Old Pink, and you eat meat, you'll definitely be able to stomach one of their well-loved bar sandwiches amidst the friendly crowd in this hometown-favorite dive bar.

I like this option in Allentown. Also because it's a real dive bar, crowd can be smaller than other places w yelling dudes in ugly Christmas sweaters. Pool table and drinks are a good price.

This place has a lot of local notoriety for its diveyness, cheap booze and overall seedy fun factor. I can't add much more to that discussion. All I can say is that everything you've heard about their steak sandwich is true. You need to get one before it's too late. Or better yet, get it when it's too late because odds are that that they'll still be serving it at 3am. What is it? It's quite simple really. They take a nicely cut 10-12oz+ cut of steak and grill it RIGHT BEHIND THE BAR along with a sandwich roll, some peppers onions and cheese. They cook it to order and although I was a bit apprehensive about ordering a medium rare steak from a dive bar, it did not disappoint. For $10, I got an amazing steak sandwich. I wasn't even drunk. Sure, it could have used a little more seasoning, but you got a pepper shaker there...go to town. You can't expect much more for the price. I loved how they cooked it to order and it was nice, pink and juicy. Can't wait to come back for more steak sandwiches. Yum.

It starts off with us calling out to her she for our drinks which she ignored. Not only that, when my husband asked her to remove the ice she removed the whole drink. We decided to leave it at that, I thought I could speak to her kindly to change it. When I went there, she said "you made me remove the ice that's why this is like this, and I can't give people like you free shit" I was honestly just shocked and a little bit drunk from the place we went before so I couldn't process it, looking at my shocked face she goes "I can make you another drink but you'll have to pay for it" I say yes do that please. She shows me quantity mocking me, "this is what is used and the amount of quantity I'm not gonna do this again so I'm showing you" I still say thank you When she comes back with the new drink, i was about to take it and then go back to our seat where my husband is and get money to pay her, returning her my old drink, she goes "nah I'm not giving it to you until you pay it" since I'm tipsy I say please keep my drink too I'll give you the money, while I'm giving her back the drink she doesn't hold the glass and it tips off and falls and she makes a nasty face I say sorry and proceed to get the money from my husband. By then husband saw me at the waiting at the bar too long and was heading towards me to help me out. When he comes I tell him to give me money and he gives it to me, again at the bar we're trying to catch her attention, she comes back are you paying for the drink? I say yes with the 20$ in my hand reaching out to give it to her, and asked the drink you spilled I already paid for that, are you gonna give me that back? She proceeds to not give the new drink I say can I have my drink back, she screams I'm not serving you lady, get off! I was still calm and didn't say anything cuz I was tipsy, my husband right next to me while this happened. (He was confused as he didn't know what happened in the first half of the conversation as he wasn't there) We were absolutely shocked and ended up leaving, I ended up crying the whole night. Waited for the alcohol to wear off to understand what I've truly been through. Saw the timings of the bar so we could go and talk to the manager/owner about it, I called the number present in google, waited for someone to pick up, the cleaner picked up after I called multiple times, it opens at 3pm on Sunday we would've left Buffalo by then to start for home, so we went at 1pm to see if anyone was there, same cleaner. Left him our numbers, he said he will let his manager know but didn't help (as apparently he didn't know anything else, didn't even know the name of the tall female bartender, who was so ugly to me) Since then I've emailed, called, there has been no response. I'd not have posted this had there been any response since then. I've been affected by this humiliation horribly, my mental health got messed up cuz I'm still questioning as to how can someone behave like this with me, what did I do wrong, because surely the color of my skin cannot be the only reason you hate me, we were celebrating 6 months of our marriage, seeing Niagara Falls was so immensely beautiful, but this experience changed my whole perspective about human behavior, all I can say is Please donot spend your hard earned money there that is my only request. PS: I keep posting the review on Google but they keep removing it somehow I just posted it again. But they removed it. I'm gonna keep posting until it's there.

It is a top notch restaurant that uses high quality and fresh ingredients and adds gourmet touches that are higher end but still work for the Buffalo crowd. And the portions are usually generous. I will say that the staff is always accommodating and helpful to ensure I find something to eat. Most recently I was able to enjoy a delicious special that was grilled prawns with mescaline and vinaigrette, supremed oranges and grapefruits and artichoke hearts filled with herbed goat cheese. It was delicious and filling enough I was able to eat it as my main. The flavors were unique and blended well together. I was full but it was still light.
