My husband picked up a colorful pair of Hokas, and I bought some wool hiking socks that were marked 20% off. Based on inventory and product variety alone, I'd give this place 5 stars. Unfortunately, the customer service didn't match the quality of the merchandise. I'm giving this 3 stars because the two employees we interacted with came across as... fake friendly? Not sure if that's a real term, but that's how it felt. At checkout, the man helping us ran into issues with the receipt printer. It wasn't printing correctly, so he asked if we wanted a receipt. My husband said no, he wasn't concerned. As we walked out, I did a quick mental tally and realized we didn't seem to get the 20% discount on the socks. We were still near the entrance, so we turned around but he wasn't there so we asked the woman employee to help us. I explained that we didn't have a receipt because their printer wasn't working properly, but it should be the last transaction in their system. I also mentioned that there might be something in the trash can, but it didn't print correctly, per what her colleague said. Instead of being helpful in a nice way, she replied with a snippy, "Well, I thought you said there's no receipt." That tone rubbed me the wrong way. If I were in her shoes, I would've at least apologized for the missed discount and tried to help resolve the issue, rather than getting defensive. The socks had large 20% off stickers, so it was clearly a pricing oversight. We're talking about an $8 difference--not the end of the world, but it's the principle and how the situation was handled. I think she did not like that I bothered her with such thing. As the saying goes, people won't always remember what you said, but they'll remember how you made them feel. And honestly, the whole vibe just felt snooty. If my husband didn't need to try on the shoes, I don't think we'd have received any help at all. I don't plan on coming back to this specific store. Maybe it's just a Bend, OR thing and this is how they act at that place--who knows.

They had so many cool details in the store, tool boxes on shelves, old signs and posters, cool rugs and oil lamps to light the way. The clothing itself was amazingly organized, every rack had several things I wanted to try on, and I ended walking out with a large haul which wouldn't have been possible without the amazing prices. The price itself was reasonable for each garment, higher quality stuff would be priced accordingly and everything else for the most part was $20-30. The cashier at the counter was also the sweetest woman, she made great conversation and had recommendations for garments to try on as well! There were really adorable items on display in the window for lovers of the outdoors: shirts, water bottles, books, etc. The items stood out from what I typically find in my current town of Denver and was unlike anything I had seen along the way. I knew I needed to come back when they opened for the day to snag a tank I saw plus check out what else they might have. Returning to that store was one of the best choices I made while in Bend! There are so many amazing items in this store. Clothing, art, jewelry, leather passport holders, dog bandanas - you name it and they probably have some way for you to honor your love of the outdoors or to gift to the outdoor lover in your life! While there, we chatted with Chris who truly made us feel like long lost friends. Chris is the real reason to visit; he is so personable and made our visit tonthe store a real experience. The Gala consisted of a DJ , a raffle, and about 48 dollars worth of Costco: cookies, crackers, pre-cut cheese, pre-cut pineapple and whole strawberries. No goody bag full of samples, no fragrance reps handing out samples. No glasses or champagne or plates of fresh shrimp. No Amazing Deals of combination sets of product offered at super prices.... For the first time in years I missed Seattle. Seattle, with its luscious event, spanning a significant portion of the floor, dotted with helpful, eager reps quick to proffer a lipstick sample, a perfume miniature... We were met with some store employee wearing what could only be described as an aging stewardesses dress, all orange, shouting over the DJ, "All I need is your name and number!', referring to the raffle tickets available for all... not just those who had tickets in advance. Apparently, this 'Gala' amounted to no more than a 15% off fragrance and beauty. For anyone passing through. We think the staff here at this Macy's misses the point. Especially distrustful employee at the Sunglass Hut here, more concerned with the whereabouts of certain pairs of sunglasses, we later realized that she was concerned we were lifting them? , firing questions at her colleague (before assisting us with procuring the product we were asking for), 'Where are the round ones?! Did you move the others?! Where did you put those other ones?!' Good God. This female employee was so concerned we were there to steal, even though we wore the VIP wrist bands (yeah, ha ha.). Later, we realized she was peering into our shopping bags AFTER we bought two pairs of sunglasses from her... sheesh. This store location does not represent the brand. Abysmal service from store clerk at one register, excellent customer service from Customer Service representative at another. At one register, we spent $278, this is how our purchases were packaged and handed to us.
