Having worked for Gap before I feel that implementing better customer service would help. Maybe this location is just supposed to be much more casual so I'm probably missing the mark there. But there have been a couple instances in the fitting room when they just look at me and point to room, and not much greetings were exchanged. But I did come to this store during its grand opening day and throughout the years it has improved. This location is pretty much organized and neat when I shop. For a small Old Navy, it has as much merchandise as a bigger location. So, no need to go to the City or Emeryville. read more

I was holding my jacket, while I was waiting to pay for a pair of shoes . The cashier suddenly asked me do you want to pay for jacket too? I told her it's mine. She asked again and I told her this is mine. Eventually, I showed her the jacket brand which was Ralph Lauren and she just said it's OK. I was shocked by her attitude; at least she could ask me in a nicer way or apologize for accusing me. She just said, "It's OK". The way she talked to me was like I made a mistake and she is telling me it's OK. I can't believe Old Navy hasn't been successful in ranting its employees. Today a very friendly and professional guy named Justin helped my husband and I locate a specific type of pants I'd been looking for. Then he went the extra mile by reminding us about up-n-coming sales and good deals. He gets 5 stars (Thanks again Justin :) ... Other staff were friendly and helpful too. For a lower-budget clothes store w/good customer service, this branch of Old Navy is definitely worth the visit. read more

I grab some shirt under the sign stating 3.99. Got to the register and it rang up 5.49. I was nice about it and told him that's fine, I don't want it, but you guys might want to change the sign. Instead of apologizing, he scream across the room stating " this shirt is not 3.99" another worker, not sure was she a manager. Instead of checking, she scream back "it clearly states $3.99 and up" obviously it didn't say $3.99 and up. Took a picture and show it to another worker and she told me to go tell the manager. I've been shopping here since when this place was called New Navy. I guess you could call me a navy brat. I love that I don't have to spend a fortune on simple layering tees and loungey-wear. The selection of funny boxers always make me chuckle. I still have a pair that I wear to bed that have little devils with pitchforks stealing hearts from each other. My most recent laugh goes to the orange hip slingers scattered with chicken drumsticks that I bought last week. I find this store, in particular, to be bright and clean with tons of cool items always on sale. The people who work here are always around if you need help and seem to enjoy their jobs. I constantly see them laughing and smiling while they work. I like that. Old Navy will be forever anchored to my heart. read more

Went there last Saturday to check out some deals since Iam an old navy customer for years and I love to shop online mostly but decided to go in store to check what all they have for spring. The customer service SUCKED. I would repeat the CUSTOMER SERVICE SUCKED. All the female employees seems so stuck up and none of them even acknowledge you. One of the cashier don't recall her name gave me a different look while I was standing in line and she didn't even smile at me when I caught her looking at me differently. She wore a headscarf and seemed like she was so judgmental. I've had pleasant experience before in this shop that's why I drive 25 mins to come to this location since I live in Hayward Ca but after this experience I would rather go to some other location if female employees at this location lack basic customer service. None of the employees seemed to smile and they looked like they hated being there. The corporate or the hiring manager needs to be trained on how to hire employees for retail. read more

The folks here are so helpful! Right away a woman greeted us. She then found pajama bottoms and shirts in the sizes I wanted. Then she asked if we wanted a stroller and got us one! By far the friendliest Old Navy I've visited. Place was organized and neat. Impressive since we're smack dab in the middle of holiday mayhem. This place is tops. read more

Most horrible customer service here. I asked the cashiers if they had one of the jackets in medium because I couldn't find one and all they say is "No" mean mugging. When you walk into the store don't even expect a hello, good bye, and don't even think about a thank you! I was so excited to hear that Old Navy was coming to the island. I mainly buy basic tank tops, cargos, and sometimes jeans here... but I was really looking forward to shopping for maternity clothes. And shocked to discover there is no maternity section. Boooooooo! Old Navy has been my savior for finding affordable maternity clothes, especially pants. What's the deal with the Alameda store? However, last time I was there I was able to buy a very cute outfit for a baby for $5!! So... I guess I'll be going to Alameda's Old Navy for people other than myself, at least until after I give birth and drop the pregnancy weight. I would've rated this 5 stars if they had a maternity section, but that cost them a 2 star deduction. read more

This is hands down my favorite Old Navy location outside of San Francisco. They have a huge parking lot with plenty of stalls (Security Monitored), an excellent staff, cheap prices, and a huge inventory. I love that the staff is always helpful here, I've never walked around for more than 5 min before having someone approach me to offer assistance. I once came here for my son's school uniforms and couldn't find his sizes, so a worker went into the storage room and dug through boxes for about 15 min to help me with what I needed (most places would tell you they are sold out). If you give this place a go, you will quickly see why it's so great, I've yet to find any other place around that I can get 9 school uniforms for around $100. read more

I have had it with this Old Navy. Yes--the Old Navy brand will offer cheap and cheaply made basic clothing. Today I was in line with about 8 other customers. There was only one young woman at the register. I found a woman in the dressing room and asked her to try to find more people to ring people out. I watched her walk to the other side of the store (pretending to find someone?) and stand in the corner for about 5 minutes. Fortunately another young man showed up to ring people out. The music was blaring, people were unhappy and the store is a terrible mess! Avoid this store. read more

I am rewriting my rating. At one time I had to stop coming as they were busy trying out a new sales technique....basically poisoning the air with smelly chemicals. Really toxic stuff that gave me an all night headache after being in the store for 5 minutes. I called and wrote to as many people as I could to have them stop this stupid practice. Well, I was pleased to learn that they are no longer poisoning the population and I now go there often. I hesitate to give too many stars as I am still annoyed when a company does unhealthy things to try to get more money. I do like their clothes and they seem to fit me better than the Gap. Nice little addition to Alameda...I mean come on our main highlighted stores in the past have been JC Penny & Mervyn's along side other sad faint memories of Clothestime, Ross & Millers Outpost etc etc etc. They weren't the worst of stores but eventually went downhill and before we knew it were gone. I like the option of Old Navy making their way to South Shore because they carry items for "families". Just wished they offered a bit more. I come here for the kids, they offer great sales for their ages. The last we went was on Saturday and I have to say what a big IMPROVEMENT on staff!! Definitely an extra star for that. In the past I've run into a few that just didn't carry that customer service quality. Especially in a store that's geared towards families. read more

Compare to most Old Navys I been to. This one had the best customer service. I was the only person in line and this employee went and open up his register and rung me up. I love old navy for some good basic fashion staples but this store has got to have the worst customer service I've ever seen and my expectations weren't that high. Obviously I'm not at a high end retail store but when it comes to spending money on clothes you should feel good about it and valued as a customer. Also this store is insanely messy. I recently went to Old Navy in an attempt to exchange some clothing that was purchased for my son from my father. It was a gift and although I did not have the sales receipt all of the tags were still attached to the clothing. I have been to Old Navy plenty of times without a sales receipt and was given the option to do an even exchange, but I was told that I could not receive cash back. I totally understand this policy. However during my trip yesterday, I was told not only could I not do an even exchange, but I that I needed to return the items for a merchandise credit. I was also told that the merchandise credit would be mailed to me within 10 business days. This makes no sense at all!! Basically without a receipt I returned the clothing that I know immediately went on the store shelf for sale, only to get store merchandise credit via snail mail, so that I can come back to the store on another day and spend the merchandise credit. This has to be the most backwards thing I have ever heard of. I spend a lot of money at old navy and because of this I know for a fact that this store policy is not always followed. When I brought this to the Store Manager's attention she was not very happy. I just want everyone to know that prior to going to this Old Navy that they are very inconsistent with their return/exchange policy and can't give an explanation of this ridiculous policy without saying, "it's always been that way." Which is so not true!!! read more

What a pig pen. Clothes strewn all over the place. Someone dumped a drink on the floor and no one cleans it up. No employees to be found except for two in a secluded corner of the store folding clothes and having a conversation in a different language. Didn't feel like interrupting their chat. Finally found what i was looking for, tried on and got in line to pay. Long line with only one cashier. Ended up leaving without my selection due to frustation. I guess I'll order on line. read more

Did I really just spend $65 here? Seriously? I'm twenty-freaking-five, wear nothing but premium denim, used to scoff at anything and everything purchased from old navy - unless it was sleepwear and/or stuff for dogs - and I just spent $65 on two neon colored hoodies and 2 v-necks. Me. $65. At Old Navy. On *clothes* from OLD NAVY. What is the world coming to!? The staff was super nice, store was clean, clothes from here seem to fit better than they used to (didn't try on jeans though). I'm impressed though shameless I am not. The only issue i would have to say about this particular Old Navy is that the 18 year olds that pretty much run it have no sense of customer service what so ever! they are always chatting among them selves making the line in the dressing room and at the check out long as hell. read more

Sooo excited to have an Old Navy on The Island! It's cleaner and better organized than most, but don't expect any help, or that anyone will be able to answer any questions. Most workers appear to be in high school, and uninterested in helping customers, but who cares, the clothes are CHEAP and cute for adult casual wear and kids. Can't give em' 5 cuz' the quality isn't the best, nor customer service, but hey it's cheap and the poor sales people are probably getting minimum wage, and I shudder to think where and who makes the rags. (Better not be child labor that's all I know, or I will be forced to boycott! But I digress..) My main reason for withholding the star is because they need more freaking mirrors in this place! I hate trying clothes on in the changing stalls, and usually just hold em' up and buy them that way, but it's hard to find a dang mirror in this store! There should be at least one on every row, but you have to walk about two to three rows to find one. I have to laugh about the petite Asian woman complaining that everything being too big...until I lost a bunch of weight after having a baby everything seemed made just for petite Asian women. Now I can wear a medium, but the high waists still kill me half the time. Still! I love this place! Where else can you find stuff on the sale rack marked down to less than $5.00? read more

This one lacks the good sale racks that most other ones have, and styles seem to come and go super fast.
