In my opinion: I should patronize the business and tip the band if I like them, and the business that hired them should pay them. No? With that, I'd bookmarked Crow & Quill on my Asheville to-do list and walked over from our hotel, so we paid and proceeded to the bar. After grabbing our first round, we were fortunate to find great seats in the packed house. Thankfully, I enjoyed the "surprise band" and they added to our first experience (and our tab) at Crow & Quill. lol... Cheers!

The Bam Bam Hurricane is very sweet and tastes almost like drinking Fruity Pebbles cereal. The moonshine shots were decent and seemed a little more liquor-forward and less sweet than what we've had at other moonshine places. The Mile High was good, although the Tajín tasted more like taco seasoning. The fried green tomatoes were all very good, and we had good service overall

We decided to do the sampling at the recommendation of the 2 staff members there. We bought the sampling option $5 per adult, 8 samplings per adult not bad, for what you get. We went and got the tickets, went to the bar, and stood there for a min, didn't get helped and the sampler server got summon to help a group of about 10 people wanting to do samplings. He left the sampling area, not acknowledging us, or setting us up before leaving. He was with the group for quite some time before we gave up went to the cash register, asked for a refund, and bought our bottles and left. I fully understand being understaffed, and having to juggle, but being ignored not even acknowledged, pass.

Wild bill was our tastemaker for the Tennessee Shine moonshine and his flare was very unique, I thought I was at an auction which each presentation sample he was about to pour. He setup our taste where I got to signal once all pours were complete, "Bottoms up"! It was so much fun! Nevermind that this wine including the warmed drink was tasteful, sweet and no ill aftertaste. We purchased TSW Chocolate Cream, Rocky Red Flat and Pigeon Forge Blush. Our tour also included a moonshine operation demo by one of the bartenders. It was educational of course. Such a great time was had!

Bad assumption! We almost had to sit at the bar (which would have been OK, but we kind of wanted more privacy) but the hostess found us a high-top table. We had to drive up a big hill to get to the restaurant, so I assume the view outside is super nice, but we sat indoors to get away from the heat :) In general, our server did an OK job, but I do think she could have checked on us a little more, and the service felt quite slow. Our meal started with some complimentary spoonbread (which was pretty tasty!) and a Dylan cocktail for me, which took forever to come out. The Dylan was not really my cup of tea, it turns out - I guess I'm just a beer drinker at heart :) My wife got the Caesar salad for an appetizer and then we split the Beef Wellington for a shared entree. I sampled my wife's Caesar and it was very tasty! The Beef Wellington also took a long time to come out, but the wait was worth it, as it was very good! The beef was cooked medium rare as expected and the pastry was tasty. For our side, we chose broccolini and it was seasoned well. Despite the service hiccups, we had a good experience here. I would definitely consider coming back, and I'd recommend the Greenbrier to others.

Cozy Scottish pub. Tasty food, good brew & whisky selection. Live music! Soccer!…read more On a recent roadtrip, we tried out Boyd's Jig & Reel in Knoxville. At midday on a weekday (spring-2026), this warm-feeling comfortable pub was active but not crowded. Of course we had beer-battered fish & chips: tender sweet cod in a not-too-thick crunchy flavorful coating, with fresh greens, onions, and tomatoes. Served with piping-hot thin fries, hand-cut to give a variety of crispier vs. soft bites. You could get that as a small-plate, as a Po'Boy sandwich, or as a main. And we had a bowl of thick rich flavorful creamy chowder. Delicious, satisfying dishes. They had a nice selection of deep crusty savory pies, too. We loved their amazing range of single-malt whiskeys, including some like a smokey softly-fruity Port Askaig that we haven't seen elsewhere. We liked slowly sipping a strongly-peaty young Islay, like 10-year Laphroaig, and Boyd's also had plenty of smoother well-aged pours up and down the price-range. They also had a nice selection of crafts, ales, stouts, ciders, and several Scottish brews. We saw that they have live music almost every evening (not Mondays), with midday music Sat and Sun. Scottish, Irish, bluegrass, old-time, classic country, and more! Next time we have to fit that into our schedule. And fútball (soccer) of course! Boyd's Jig & Reel is a must-visit in the middle of Knoxville!
