Good vibe, good food and a great stopping spot for a meal and drink…read more The server was friendly and attentive, told us about the free tasting at the bar after dinner, and made some recommendations. The smash burgers are delicious. After food, the tasting was fun. Part of the Tennessee Whiskey Trail.

Maybe "pet tolerant", but not "friendly": - hostess was visibly & audibly afraid of dogs. We have two sweet chocolate labs, not exactly menacing creatures. Why in the world would you send a dog-fearing employee to get us seated? - we expected an offer of a water bowl for our pups. Nope. Had to find a server and ask for one. - the outdoor area we sat at is enclosed & gated. A door separates this outdoor area from the inside dining room. In spite of this, 10 minutes after being seated, a separate employee came out and simply said "do yall have leashes?" 1- of course we do, you saw us walk them in. 2- no greeting or "hey, I'm blah blah"... cold & impersonal. 3- why bother with the cost of a gated enclosure if pets have to be leashed anyway? We've been to many pet-friendly restaurants. You are NOT pet-friendly. You happily took our money for the meal, and added a 20% gratuity yourselves (which was not earned btw), but you barely did enough to accommodate our pups, let alone be considered "friendly". We didn't feel they were welcome, and certainly no "friendly" environment experienced. We won't be back. See how Calhouns defines "pet friendly". Y'all might learn something. To diners with pups: You want "pet friendly"? Skip this place.

For all of you sweet alcohol drinkers out there: Old Forge Distillery's got you. This is the place…read moreto get the hard stuff that also tastes like an oatmeal cookie or watermelon taffy or a pumpkin roll. When you want to get drunk, but you also need your drink to look electric blue and taste like raspberry, you come here. I'm not the biggest fan of sweet drinks in general, and especially not sweet alcohol. But I wasn't about to pass up an opportunity to taste some of Old Forge Distillery's moonshine and gin. They also make vodka, whiskey and rum. The gin was good! It doesn't taste like traditional gin, because they age it in bourbon barrels, so it has a little bit of a caramel taste to it. (In my opinion.) The moonshine and the cream liqueurs are where you will find the crazy flavors. I think my favorite was the coffee moonshine, which tastes like a wonderfully spiked black coffee. Samples are plentiful. The bartender told us which ones were crowd favorites, and also recommended some that I would not have picked myself. They also have a huge gift shop with lots of tchotchkes, plus bottles of their goods to take home with you.

Sooo head on in for tasting and you will not regret it. You'll find something your tastebuds will…read moreflip out for! The moonshine is strong with this one. Lance was our tastemaker/ bartender and our tasting was curated as part of a tour. We tasted about 12 different moonshines including some not on the list: Watermelon, Spicy Pickle and Habenero Bloody Mary... not something I liked. Bloody Mary's are very spicy. Lance was knowledgeable about the moonshines being sampled, offering insights into its flavors and made sure we understood you don't have to drink full pour and he'd provide a new sipping cup. Most lived upto flavor, very potent in alcohol content as Lance explained with each sample. Logan gathered our order together and because of a coupon we got a feee shot glass. We ended up purchasing 3 with one free: Salted Caramel Moonshine, Coffee Moonshine, Lemon Lime Moonshine and Sweet Tea Moonshine. I'm sure you'll find your own favorites

The tasting was quick and fun. We liked so many flavors and after much deliberation decided to purchase the apple pie, strawberry shortcake, and 2 orange creme. The bottles are $29.99 each and they had a buy 3 get 1 free deal going on. An employee stood ready to package the bottles and carry them to the counter. I greatly appreciated this as then I did not have to hold them when perusing the rest of the shop. In addition to moonshine they sell T-shirts, pour spouts, candles, and more. We visited Tanger on a Saturday morning over a holiday weekend. Parking was rough but understandable. Eventually we found a spot, but it took longer to leave Tanger than it did to park. Overall, we had a fun experience here and recommend this shop to others!
