Bootleggers was a really cool find on a road trip I recently took. I stopped here really because my gut told me I'd like it, and I was right. It's small and I was the only person inside since made the experience even better. You get three samples for free, but can pay money for extra. I knew three would be enough for me. I tried the pineapple, coffee, and cherry and all were delicious. If I wasn't driving I would have had more, that's for sure. Pricing for each bottle is listed easily for you to see. The guy working as your bartender or sales person was really nice. Answered questions about the moonshine and overall was really helpful. Note: they are cash only. There is an ATM inside, but be prepared not to be able to use your credit/debit card. They have other gift shop items for sell too but I stuck with booze.

Fun little spot. They make their moonshot on sight. It's Cool inside. They have all kind of apparel. Plus great taste testing prices!! Flavor ranges from peach to peppers! It is a little small inside but still fun! Great creek to walk down to behind the store.

Frozen moonshine. Not real alcohol. Do not buy

This place is a gimmick. We sampled their moonshine, which had a strong alcohol taste. Then when we bought the moonshine it did not taste as strong at all. We brought it home and stuck it in the freezer. Because moonshine is a higher proof, it is not supposed to freeze (like most alcohol). However, sadly, ours did. They are not selling real moonshine. The samples are definitely real. But do not buy the moonshine.

Derek helped us out before we went white water rafting in. Derek gave us a tour of the facility. This is a wonderful mom and pop operation. If you are looking for moonshine look no further! The shine was an amazing experience that I will never forget.

Must stop! This is a must stop, must taste, must enjoy experience. Pay the $5 for ten samples, get a souvenir shot glass, fun little experience and some of the best 'shine out there! We were impressed that everything is distilled right there, and is truly better than the bigger distilleries around. Also, the staff was incredible. Shannon was our bartender. Although busy, she made sure to give each person individual time.

Found this by accident because of a GPS snafu. Didn't spend a lot of time because of being behind schedule but we got a couple free samples and bought a couple of premise bottled cocktails. I will be back and give a much better review in the future. But for know I will say this is a real moonshiner that's been doing it for 45 years. A definite place to check out.

What a nice little treat this unplanned pitstop was! Was in route moving from St. Louis to Charlotte and as I was several miles from the border of TN/NC I noticed a billboard that said BOOTLEGGERS DISTILLERY - FREE SAMPLES! I was sold at Free Samples! Plus I needed to stop and stretch my legs. It was a tiny little store front, not much room to move around or wonder. But you don't need much room to take a few shots. They even have this cool map where everyone who comes in puts a pin on where they're from. Not much to it, but cute little place. They have several flavors and proofs, as I like to refer to "a little something for everyone." Everything from high proof straight moonshine to low proof apple pie... and of course everything in between! My favorites were the apple, peach and sweet shine. Liked the sweet shine the best. We're in the middle of nowhere TN, so of course it's CA$H ONLY folks. Don't worry they have an ATM just incase ;) Pricing of moonshine and merch is spot on to other moonshine companies. So definitely not overpriced. The only complaint I have is that I have to drive 3 hours to get more! Although I wouldn't mind going back to have that good looking guy pour me more moonshine, it would be nice to be able to have it delivered with the click of a button! Don't forget... For best results, breathe deeply, shoot it back, let it settle for a few seconds and then breathe out. Mmmmm... the taste of that sweet shine!

We tasted a LOT of samples on vacation and this is the BEST by far! The moonshine has actual fruit in it. It is a small family owned business. Very friendly and you get a souvenir glass if you do the 10 for $5. For less than $10 I got the glass, 10 samples and one the nest pina colada slushees I have had in a long time. Cash only but they have an ATM on site. We only ran across this place on our way to raft so it is off the beaten path but well worth the stop. Nice little rustic shop with outdoor seating to relax and enjoy your beverage.

We had heard of this place for a while and wanted to check it out and we're so glad we did. The food and service were amazing. Walking in it's a narrow restaurant, that has a bar on one side and tables on the other with kinda a rustic feel to it. We were seated immediately and our drink orders were taken. Since we hadn't been there before we got water and then pursued the menu a little for drinks. I had a question between two drinks and the server was very good at describing the drinks and ultimately decided to try the Darryl Strawberry, while my husband got the Nor'easter. The drinks came out and they were really good. They weren't overly strong, you could taste the bourbon in each of them, but it wasn't overpowering. For food we got the OPA! to start and then the Billy for me and the Mother Clucker for him. The OPA was awesome. It's pan seared feta with honey and served with fresh bread. The honey added a little extra sweetness to the feta which went really nicely with the crusty bread. The Billy had goat cheese, bacon, onions and, a tomato jam on it. It was delicious. The creamy goat cheese with the bacon and smokey tomato jam all went amazingly together. I got onion rings as my side, which were crunchy hot and so so good. The Mother Clucker was also really good. I only had a bite of it to try, but was definitely impressed. My husband upgraded to the duck fat fries which were out of this world. Super crunchy, great flavor. Our server kept checking back on us the whole time making sure we were satisfied with our drinks and food, but we had absolutely no complaints. This is a great place for a date if you want good food or to hang out with friends. We will definitely be back.

Our table provided a scenic overlook through the trees. I wish that I remembered our waiter's name, but he was phenomenal and extremely knowledgeable. (I do remember he was from Southern Indiana). My wife had the petit 7-ounce filet (wet-aged Iowa Premium USDA beef tenderloin, center cut, fresh-cracked black pepper and kosher salt) and a Caesar Salad. Her steak was cooked perfectly and she really enjoyed her Caesar salad and the twice baked potato as her side. I had the New York Strip (dry-aged Iowa Premium USDA prime short loin with the bone. Fresh-cracked black pepper and kosher salt), and a chopped salad (chopped baby greens, tomato, pickled onion, artichokes, cucumbers, hard boiled eggs and citrus herb vinaigrette.) The steak melted in your mouth and the salad was fresh with a delicious citrus herb vinaigrette dressing. My side was the asparagus which again, was very delicious and cooked perfectly (I could have had another serving!) They also served some very tasty hot and buttery spoon bread which was very close to the original recipe that was created near my home in Berea, KY. Between the salad and the main course, we were served a lemon sorbet as a pallet cleanser. For dessert, my wife had the crème brûlée and I had the butterscotch budino. Both were very tasty, but personally for me, the butterscotch budino was a tad better -- but you cannot go wrong with either. We don't drink, but there was a great wine menu and over 100 different bourbon selections. We will definitely return again. Reservations are highly recommended!
