I rely heavily on Yelp to find gluten free options. This restaurant kept showing up in my search for the Strawberry area. I would not recommend it for celiacs as the server said in her words "there's tons and tons of cross contamination here" when I asked about gluten free options. They do offer a cauliflower pizza crust for an up charge of $3.50. I asked if some of the salads might be ok. She said she could take the breadsticks off. I didn't feel comfortable eating here but my husband was hungry and I felt bad for him. It's a really eclectic hole in the wall type of joint. Kind of like biker bar meets trendy food network. A serious Dichotomy. The restaurant name "Old Country Inn" didn't seem to match the food and atmosphere. Everyone seemed to be having fun and enjoying themselves. My husband ordered the gluten free East Coast clam pizza. Cost was $24.50. He said it was ok. I ended up ordering the "Just beet it salad." Cost was $13. It was fresh and tasty. I ordered no salad dressing on the salad but some on the side but it came with dressing on it. Wasn't sure if the dressing was gluten free or not. They did replace my salad with a new one without dressing. We sat outside and it took a long time for us to get our food and we had to ask for our check after waiting a really long time. Second try eating here, first time the wait was too long. View and patio are amazing, but we waited 50 minutes for one pizza without any attention from our server. Large table next to us waited a long time, too. But for some reason other tables were getting pizzas right away. And apps were coming out fast. As for the pizza, I had high hopes. Great local spot! Stopped by Old County Inn for lunch while visiting the area. The menu offers chef-driven food and specializes in wood-fired pizzas. All of the food at Old County Inn is made from scratch by Chef Michael Dahling and team, using locally sourced ingredients. My friend and I were greeted and seated upon entering. The indoor space is small, but offers ample seating. Old County Inn also has a large and spacious covered patio with heaters. Since it was a chilly day, we opted to sit inside. We shared the Arizona Greens salad as well as the East Coast Clam pizza. The salad came with spring greens, baby kale, carrots, shaved persian cucumber, shaved radish, roasted tomatoes, crispy sweet corn, bread sticks, and housemade buttermilk herb dressing. What a wholesome and delicious salad. I am a sucker for texture in my food and this salad provided that and more. The East coast clam pizza had mozzarella, grana padano, littleneck clams, house bacon, calabrian peppers, pesto, oregano, and fresh lemon. It was the most unique pizza on the menu, so we had to get it! I've never had pizza with clams before and you know what, it pleasantly surprised me. I didn't love it, but I didn't hate it either. First time coming to Pine and had to try this place I've seen all over my Instagram. We have kids at home so we planned on ordering pick up but the online ordering was down and the phone was immediately going to voicemail so we decided to just drive the 6 minutes to the location. Once we got there we completely understood why they shut down online ordering. There was a customer that was upset and honestly I don't understand why. Some people like to be unhappy I think. I felt so bad for the workers just trying to do their jobs and crank out pizza after pizza. Especially while some angry lady yells at them because she's impatient. I saw another review before posting this that someone was mad they weren't taking more online orders or answering the phone and then were mad the pizza was taking too long? You can't be mad at both of those things lol This place is legit. They had 3 people back there making pizza from scratch. Cutting fresh pineapple and grating fresh cheese. If you want Pizza Hut timing and quality- go to Payson. There are like 3 food choices in this town with hundreds of little cabins on a weekend night. Tried for over an hour to order takeout and continually got a voice saying they are not answering with immediate disconnect - finally drove down to their express location only to find they took the phone off the hook and left it off, so no one could order! We had breakfast, so we thought a pizza would be a little too much, and my husband was focused on the green chile beer cheese! The dip had delicious flavor and with hot, soft bread sticks...it did not disappoint! We were torn between the woodfired wings and fried chix & pix, so I asked Joyce what she recommended, and said the wings were her favorite, and she brings them home! So wings it was! No joke, the best wings we have ever had! You get four, but it is the whole wing and they are so plump and juicy! One of our favorite pizza spots!! They have a huge variety of pies and are so reasonably priced for what you get. On this trip, we opted for the spinach, artichoke, and chicken pizza. It was so flavorful and had a generous portion of toppings on it. The balsamic glaze was the cherry on top of a delicious pizza! The dollops of ricotta were my personal fave part. Hands down our favorite pizza place in AZ for the last several years. We have built trips around wanting to eat this pizza. Now we go up to Pine a few times a year just to make sure we get our Old County Inn fix. We even took a day trip up there when my parents were here so they could taste the pizza. They are from Back East and they loved it! The meat pie is a must have every time we are here along with the buffalo chips. I have never been let down by their craft cocktails, and their wine selection is just excellent. Great place for a day drink, especially when the weather is cooler and the fireplace is blazing. Best clam pizza! I love this place so much, it was one of my favorites when I visited Pine/Strawberry (and also one of the primary reasons I would head that way, in addition to the beautiful hikes/scenery, escape from the bustling Phoenix city life). It's usually pretty busy when I come here, regardless of the day time (I've been on Wednesday before happy hour, Sunday morning right at opening, and other random times). I love the taproom in the back, they have live musicians regularly and when the weather is nice, it's really enjoyable to sit outside, play a round of cornhole, and enjoy the view of the mountains. Service is always great and friendly. They have a standard drink menu with lots of solid options (I like their margaritas) and of course beer/wine. My favorite dish of all time is their clam pizza, but over the years I've tried several others that are also delicious. Their wings, salad, and other entrees never disappoint either. Delicious hidden gem among Pine! We plopped by Old County Inn after a nearby hike at the Pine Canyon trail (highly recommended if you want a nice easy hike with views) and we found the Old County Inn and boy was I glad I did. The food was delicious and the dinosaur size whole wood fired chicken wings were a highlight. These were perfectly juicy with a nice crispy skin and came with an amazing buttermilk ranch dressing. Also got the Arizona greens salad which was really fresh and different than other salads I've tried. The crispy sweet corn was a nice touch as well. We got the house special white pizza after that with garlic, mushroom, feta and Italian sausage and that was pretty darn tasty too. Very very good pizzas, I have the White pizza because I am a total cheese-freak, but all are exceedingly awesome and tasty and seem to end too soon... I also really like the Meat and Cheese plate, it's meant to be shared (I think that's the idea), but I've gone there alone and had it with a pint or two of Cider and picked at it while listening to live music. It is delicious-the bacon is sooo good and cured in-house-and they rotate the cheeses depending on what's new, or on special, or can make the plate with your preferences. They have some wonderful salads too, local greens and tomatoes, meats and cheeses, chicken or steak. Today i had the beet salad, with pine nuts and goat cheese and a lovely lemon vinaigrette. We got there a bit before opening time so got to be seated first, the breeze was great sitting outside and couldn't have asked for a better lunchtime get together. Service is always good , even great; since some long tables are shared it can get a bit chaotic for the help but there's always a smile from them. Read the reviews and wanted to try it on our trip up north from Phoenix. We got there right before they opened on a Thursday. Already a line to get a seat but got sat as soon as they opened. Waitress was friendly and came over quickly but then only came back sporadically. We had empty drinks numerous times. The food was worth it though. Super delicious pizza! Takeout was "closed." What do you mean takeout is closed? Is your restaurant not open? This is our third time visiting this location. There is always a lot of people here. In the summer you may have a weight. They are not open all days of the week. Mainly weekends in the winter. Their pizza is very good and their wings are to die for. They are the full wing and they are big. served with sliced carrots , sliced radish and a dipping sauce. We was seated quickly and one big plus is since it is outside on a patio it is dog friendly. Our dog is very quite and well behaved. She enjoyed the outing as much as we did.
