We got the green chile beer cheese and a lefty pizza. Both were great! The beer cheese came with either 5 or 8 long breadsticks (for 2 people we felt 5 were perfect before the pizza!). Such a cute place! Great outdoor seating area with a fireplace, heaters and cute twinkling lights. Started with the beer cheese appetizer and a beer that was on their draft rotation. Right off the bat I knew we picked a fabulous place to eat. Delicious drinks and WONDERFUL food. Pizza was unique and great and desert hit the spot. Had dinner last night and arrived at 7:30 pm. Seated right away inside. Placed order and after waiting for about 45 minutes for apps to arrive asked what was going on. They forgot to place our order in the system. They admitted it, and apps/ salad/ pizzas arrived around 9 pm. They apologized for the wait and didn't not offer anything for the extremely long wait. To the owner: Please train your employees better and also empower them to go above and beyond when taking care of your guests. read more

We had the BEST time at Old County Inn last night. It was our first trip to Pine, and according to everyone--this restaurant was a must. The wait was an hour long, and then another hour for the pizza. But you know this going into it from the friendly hostess at the front and the chalkboard sign that says "60 minute wait for pizzas." There was live music from a local Payson band called Sol Deville, and they played everything from George Straight to Boz Scaggs. We enjoyed perfect weather on the patio and the most amazing service. Everyone was so friendly. We had the homemade breadsticks and beer cheese, the Lefty pizza, and a cast iron cookie. Everything was delicious, perfect ingredients and menu paired with a warm and inviting atmosphere put this place top of the list for Pine! read more

This is the most amazing brick oven pizza I've ever had! The restaurant is very cozy and inviting, like an old farm house kinda vibe. The patio is huge with sufficient seating and heating for those chilly evenings. The Tap Room has the most amazing beer and wines on tap as well as a huge selection of whiskey and scotch. The service is outstanding! They have a super friendly, outgoing and attentive staff. It is clear to us that the owner has put a lot of thought and care into his restaurant. Stopped in for a pizza around 1pm and was greeted and seated almost immediately inside. Our order of 1 meat pizza was taken almost immediately as well. About a half hour later we inquired about our pizza order and our waitress said she would check ...came back and said ours was the next one up. Seriously 40 minutes for one meat pizza ??? Fantastic pizza! Ice cold draft beer(try the Nitro draft, wow!) It's a half hour drive for us to the Old Country Inn but well worth the drive. Just don't be in a hurry for your order......very slow but so rewarding. Extremely busy in the summer months, long waits, etc. My advice is to go early in the afternoon before 4PM and enjoy. read more

Wonderful pizza and wine! There was a sign that said "60 minute wait for pizza" but ours came in 20 minutes and was delicious! The glass of wine I ordered was fabulous too. The server was friendly and attentive and a lot of the staff stopped to chat with my daughter (toddler), which of course she loved. Excellent thin crust, traditional Italian style pizza. Having grown up just outside of Manhattan, Michael's pizza reminds me of my roots. The craft beers are a great feature, and we can't wait for a return visit to Pine to try out his gorgeously appointed Taproom. This is definitely a gem in the middle of the woods. I almost hate reviewing it, instead of keeping its greatness a secret! Knocked off one star for the service only. Ours failed to tell us the daily specials or refill our iced teas after acknowledging that she would. We'd have preferred more efficient service over her theatrically chipper and phony chatter. read more

Our first time at this place and I can't think of one negative thing to say. There were three of us who arrived about 4:45 on a Friday evening during a heavy thunderstorm. Outside seating was not an option, but we managed to get a table thanks to a very helpful hostess. While we were waiting I heard the manager on the phone telling someone that it was going to be tight tonight spacewise, but to go ahead and come in and they'd be sure to get them a table. They have a full bar and some really interesting variations on traditional drinks. I had their Bloody Mary which was spicy and excellent! Wife had the Bees Knees which she enjoyed. I ordered the Arizona greens salad and daughter ordered the Italian Chopped salad, a special for the night. Both were large and had lots of different ingredients. I especially liked the freeze dried corn on the Arizona greens salad. Great dressing options too. For pizzas, we got a DIY pepperoni, black olive and serrano pepper pizza and an artichoke, chicken, spinach "pizza." Traditional and not so traditional, but both delicious! Very thin crusts and not stingy on the high quality toppings. Several employees checked on us throughout our stay in addition to our waitress. All were very friendly and efficient, but not overly attentive. Did I mention the reasonable prices?!?! We will return!!! read more

Slammed on Saturday. Our visit was about 3 hours start to finish. Great for day drinkers. Not so much when you're just hungry! Wouldn't go on a weekend again. Pizza was pretty good, staff was nice but too busy for great service. Pizzas all came out about 10 minutes apart. Staff was hustling to keep up. Ate here on Wednesday, 06-03-2020 with my mother. Restaurant was no more than half full to allow social distancing. Was greeted by a busy and flustered waitress who asked us if we were picking up or eating in. She came across as rude since she yelled from the patio area while walking around. Another waitress came out after a while and seated us inside the restaurant next to the cash register and the Togo order heating table. We were left siting there for about 15 minutes until someone asked us if we had been helped yet. She got us water and took our order, one poncho pizza, and stated that it would be about 40 minutes for our pizza to be done. We've been here before and know that the wait times are long but well worth it since the pizza is so good, at least in the past. We sat there and talked for a while and no one ever checked back up on us. She walked by a few times every minute since we were seated in the area that all the food comes out and the cash register is located. No one, including our waitress, ever checked on us or got us more water. We waited for close to an hour and a half before our pizza came out and was delivered to our table by another man. The pizza was under cooked and the crust doughy. The toppings were alright. We were at the restaurant for a total of about 2 and a half hours from arriving and waiting to be seated (5 minutes), waiting for our waitress to come for the first time (15 minutes), pizza to come to table (1.5 hours), eating and cashing out the table (35 minutes). And in all that time we only got one glass of water. Waitress never came back to our table after taking our order (we were there for another 2 hours). The pizza was under cooked. I wrote this off as a one off but I started thinking back and realized that the service has been getting worse and worse in the last almost 2 years. And I was talking to my sister since this happened and she said she experienced horrible service a week prior to this incident. I hope they can step it up and work out there issues because this use to be a nice relaxing place to grab a bit to eat. read more

My husband and I stopped by this restaurant because it was recommended on trip advisor. We were not let down. The beer cheese and bread sticks showed up fresh from the oven/stove. It wasn't too spicy. It was the perfect size for us to share. We ordered the all meat pizza as well as a bbq chicken pizza. I asked for the cilantro sauce to be on the side because I can be pretty picky with spicy food. My husband loved it so I tried it and found it to be pretty mild, and a great addition to the pizza. Overall it was a fantastic spot to have lunch and we highly recommend it. There seemed to only be one waitress working the outdoor area and the pub area, but she was hustling and never made us feel forgotten. Great environment and amazing food. However, come here EARLY and when you have lots of time. We arrived at noon on our way to Albuquerque and didn't receive our pizza until 1:40 pm. The manager was kind and apologetic and comped our pizza, which I appreciated. However, it wasn't communicated to us ahead of time that there would be a wait, nor did they check in with us until we asked. It was frustrating to be so delayed on a trip and if we'd known, we'd likely have left. Also, when you arrive, wait on the patio to be seated!! There's no sign or any indication, and when we tried to go inside to find a server one of them got very frustrated/angry with us. Once the pizza came it was delicious but we were hangry. Definitely a small town business worth supporting but want people to go in clear-eyed. Communication from the staff and checking in on us would have gone a long way, so we could have made the decision to move on and make our destination in time. Excellent food and service. BUT...dogs on the patio is a negative. Today there was a snorting bull dog, a small dog on an extended leash and a hound that howled until it's owner finally decided to take it for a walk, twice while we were there! We and our family and friends have frequented this establishment numerous times when up in Pine at our family cabin. The food and service never disappoints. Just had an unexpected and wonderful meal here. This place is AWESOME. It was a bit of a surprise to find it in Pine, AZ, as this is not a town that is known for its cuisine. Maybe that's about to change. We had the beer cheese, which comes with fresh made bread sticks. Not a crumb was left. So good. The pizza was excellent - we had the Lefty, which has chicken, BBQ sauce, and this amazing Serrano - cilantro pesto on it. Be prepared to wait about 45 minutes for a pizza.
