Loved this place. Went to a business meeting dinner, decided this place was a good choice. The atmosphere was good and friendly the service was good, the order consisted of 1House Wine (Bruschetta w Marinara and Buffalo Chicken Rolls.

We moved my youngest to Colorado and on the way we stay in Lawrence Kansas. Right next to our hotel was Old Chicago. You could smell it from outside our hotel and it smelled fantastic. We had a group of six and we all ordered something different and all of the dishes got high praise. I ordered the thin tavern pizza with onions and green olives and a pineapple smash beer. The meal hit the spot after a 9 hour drive.

I started coming here for awhile now. Wanting to expand my horizons, became friends with the staff and customers too, Bring my OC mug which is decorated, most of the mugs are plain and boring. When I bring my mug in everybody's wants to see it, I feel at home even if this is not my home store, always enjoy the food and special. This location is own by private and not corporate. Which makes it nice, they have a garage door on the patio, which u will find me lot, none of the corporate stores don't have a garage door.

We always have a great time at Old Chicago! Their food is awesome. The staff is always fun and upbeat. We get the s Sicilian rolls for an appetizer and I got the deep dish pepperoni. Others with us got a pizza hand tossed, a burger and the kids got a personal size pizza.

Place is big and clean. Greeted kindly upon entering and had fast service. I ordered the beer cheese burger with sweet potato fries which I thought was amazing. I even had it cooked medium well and it was incredibly juicy. Fries were crispy and perfectly salted. My husband ordered the calzone which he didn't care for. He said it was too much bread not enough stuffing so he left half of it on the plate. But overall enjoyed the place and would come back.

Even with Covid going on it is good to see that Old Chicago is still going strong. Having almost completed my 5th beer tour I have been here a lot over the years. It is always good to know when you go to any of their store that the food and beer selection is going to be good! Staff was friendly and food came out quickly and tasty!

Very nice staff and easy parking. Good food and large serving. Chicken parm frankly best in town. Huge beer list. Give it a try.

Pretty good. Friendly service and good food. I haven't been to this chain for years. I would come back to try some more items.

First off, major…read morewin that brunch is served until 1pm... perfect for those of us who don't exactly jump out of bed early. The vibe was fun and inviting, and it looks like they've carried over the magic from their super popular Christmas pop-up into a fresh, spring-inspired theme. It adds a really playful, seasonal touch without feeling overdone. What really made the visit stand out, though, was the service. Our waitress was fantastic--super friendly, attentive without hovering, and offered great suggestions that we actually ended up loving. Tip: Get a basket of French fries for the table! Overall, it's one of those spots that works for just about anything--family outings, catching a game, bigger group gatherings, or even a more low-key, intimate meal. Great atmosphere, great service, and a place we'll definitely be back to.

I am obsessed with the ambiance of the place - especially during Christmas time! It is just so fun and I look forward to eating there any time we have guests in town. Another plus is that the wait staff is so friendly and always make you feel welcomed, and they give great food suggestions! Some of my favorite food items include: the Bill Self Mac, ANY of the pizzas, Cobb Salad, Meatball Grinder, and Patty Melt. OOOOOH and if you are in the mood for an appetizer they have one of the best artichoke dips in Lawrence, hands down!! My fiance and I went there for a family celebration after our engagement and they treated us with a delicious chocolate cake! This really sealed the deal on being one of my favorite places in Lawrence!

It opens at 4 pm, but the restaurant's website still says 11 am. I do not understand why it has taken so long for the restaurant to update its website. There also have been changes to the menu. The new menu includes Branzino (European Sea Bass). It is an interesting choice, but arrives frozen. I prefer the salmon, which arrives fresh. I similarly would prefer trout to the Branzino, since trout would be available fresh in Lawrence. They have a choice of a few different nonalcoholic beers. I appreciate that. The nonalcoholic beer market has grown dramatically, even in Germany. I find it to be puzzling that some restaurants in Lawrence still don't have any.

Very bland no flavor with some sort of red sauce came out with it on the plate which tasted like A-1 sauce and ketchup mixed toy. Horrible flavor. They put the steak in the broiler, to be honest it looked like it was microwaved. Zero char. They took it back and put grilled marks in it and it still didn't come out right. I even asked out waiter if I could go back and cook my own steak. Then they tried to fix it with bringing me out another Ribeye and not the same Cowboy Cut . Grilled it also . With marks and not even a decent crust . They say they cut their own meet . Maybe at the grocery store . HUGE disappointment. Maybe just turn it into a bar with drinks and appetizers. Service was decent our waiter tried his hardest to get it done right Z even the manger came out and tried to make it right but at this point I wasn't interested in having a crappy steak . I do have to say the place had a nice atmosphere l. Do yourself a favor and go someplace else . Save yourself for over paying for crap meat .

She earned an A+ and her tip reflected that. That said, my friend and I were both extremely upset about the lack of options for lunch. Everything on the menu was brunch and the options for that were not great. It took us quite a while to finally decide on what we would have. I had the quiche Lorraine with sweet potato fries and a salad. The sweet potato fries were OK, but the quiche was cold and I ended up eating less than half of my food. My friend ordered the blue crab benny which came with home fries. Her potatoes were cold and she also ate less than half her food because she said she didn't like it. I will accept blame for not realizing J Wilson doesn't serve lunch on weekends, but the quality of the food is on them. When I come to Lawrence, it's almost always on a Saturday, so I will not be having lunch at J Wilson's again.

I had the medium rare bone-in ribeye for $49. It was slightly over cooked but not by much. I didn't like the taste of the rub/sauce on the steak as it tasted a little sour. I've never eaten a steak at a steakhouse with this taste. It was certainly unique. I loved the lump crab cakes though; very moist and creamy. The service was great. Our waiter was attentive and offered a free coffee cake for a birthday celebration. J. Wilson's has an average 4.3 stars on Yelp which is really good. However, the bone-in ribeye was underwhelming. I would rather pay $20-30 more for a more exceptional steak. P.S. my brother also could not finish his KC Strip.
