Great ice cream. Dense, creamy, rich. We dropped by after seeing St. Peter's tomb and right before going to the Vatican Museum, so this was a great location to get a treat. The chocolate gelato had a delicious, intense chocolate flavor. I forget if I got giandua or Bacio, bur whichever it was, I enjoyed it a lot. Vanilla was okay, not bad but as flavorful as the other flavors we got. Service was swift, which is nice since there is usually a huge line. It's popular reputation is definitely deserved. read more

One of the locals turned us on to Old Bridge, and we soon started stopping at this tiny place each day on our recent trip. It was bitterly cold outside, but there was still often a line. The prices are incredibly cheap @ under 2 Euro for a substantial cone (and yes, you can get whipped cream on the top). The staff were very friendly and always accommodating (on one particularly cold night the owner let us eat our cones in the warmth of the attached creperie). As a bonus, they have gluten-free cones and non-dairy options (sorbetto), a big plus if you're traveling with people who have food allergies. I would recommend this place to anyone traveling to Rome in the vicinity of the Vatican. read more

Wow, who knew Yelp had come to Italy? We spent a week in Rome and centered our tourism on the Vatican, so we were in the area most every day. And we stopped at Old Bridge every time we walked by. So yeah, it's good. This was probably our favorite gelato place in Italy - and we did sample a bunch. Great flavors, great price, and great location just outside the Vatican Museum. And c'mon, you're on vacation and probably doing a ton of walking - get the panna on top. read more

Perfect pit stop after leaving the Vatican. Lines can get quite long but it moves fast. The coffee, pistachio and hazelnut were my favorite flavors. Simple and executed perfect. The dark chocolate was a bit too dense almost like sorbet but if you love dark chocolate it's definitely got all that dark flavor. Plus you can satisfy all your gelato needs without paying more then 2.50 euros! read more

Excellent gelato right by the Vatican City. Every time I passed by, there was a long line of people. So despite the heat, we braved the line, and was it ever worth it! The pear gelato I tasted was just like biting into a fresh pear (with a creamy finish). There's a reason this place is so popular! read more

There are so many places for gelato in Rome and my husband and I tried quite a few. Old Bridge was definitely our favorite. You get a choice of three flavors in any size. The pistachio and zabaglione were my favorite. My husband loved the chocolate flavors. My favorite gelato place in Rome. If you are headed to the Vatican this is a must visit!!! There will be a lineup, and in the summer it will be hot standing in line baking in the sun. But it is worth it. The gelato is fresh and flavors are natural and intense. Prices are inexpensive and not tourist trap adjusted! This alone is amazing on it's own. I tried: lemon, sour cherry, hazelnut, peach, chocolate, creama....all wonderful. Their flavours change and are seasonal. read more

My friends and I were traveling around Vatican city on a hot day during the early summer and stumbled upon this great gelato place right outside the Vatican city gates. After waiting in a sizeable line, we were greeted warmly and our mouths salivated over the many choices available. Not being able to pick only one flavor, my friends and I all selected 3 different gelatos. Once we received our gelato, it was a heaping pile on top of a cone that you could barely see because there was so much gelato. Definitely the best value for your Euro in Rome and the gelato was amazing as well. I ordered an amaretto cookie flavor, a chocolate fondant flavor, and a banana flavor, which were all delicious. I finished my cone, but needless to say, I didn't really need dinner that night. Definitely a must go if you are around the Vatican City area. read more

One of the best gelato places in Rome!!! Reasonably priced for 3-4 euros you can get a good size gelatos. You get to pick three flavours no matter the size of cone or cup you pick. The must try is pistachio. I have tried mango, hazelnut, caffe, Oreo and pistachio all good. read more

Hands down the best freaking Gelato so far in Rome and we have been trying at least 3 a day from different places, yes if you have been to Rome everyone has had gelato for breakfast, lunch and dinner hahaha. There is a line down the block into the piazza for this stuff. Both tourists and locals LURV this fresh gelato. Well worth the long waits and all the ice creams are so fluffy and delicious. It is nice to take a walk to the Vaticano then stroll over this way following the walls of the Vatican and taking a break for some of this stuff. Buon Appetito! read more

This is the best gelato place I have ever been to EVER (and I tried a lot. I had gelato at least three times a day while I was in Italy for 1.5 weeks). I even tried the gelateria in Siena that won best gelato in the world but Old Bridge is better!!! I went to Old bridge four times while I was in Italy because I couldn't get enough of it. All of their flavors are amazing. Every time I went, my parents and I just asked the workers for their favorite flavor combos and they always gave us the most wonderful concoctions. The workers are so friendly and lovable! They gave me free gelato too :P This is a MUST TRY place right outside the Vatican! read more

My roommate was raving about this for days on end and I finally got my hands on some Old Bridge gelato after a long day at the Vatican! The workers were accommodating - didn't feel rushed, was given a change to sample some of the flavors, etc. A good number of flavors to choose from, as well! Anywho - I got two big ol' scoops of **COOKIES** instead of going for two flavors. I was in love. SOOO good. The right amount of sweet. Bits of cookies. The cone was delicious. I basically inhaled my gelato. If I ever find myself back in Rome, this will be one of my first stops. The line is long [all the time] for a reason! read more

The best thing about Old Bridge is the price. The gelato flavors I tried, while being delicious and flavorful, are not the best. Several other places in Rome offer better stracciatella, yogurt and chocolate gelato. However, other flavors might actually be memorable. read more

Best gelato in Rome! So close to the Vatican, tons of flavors, and the line is never too long. Skip the touristy places with giant mounds of brightly colored gelato and head straight here. We loved the pistachio and ricotta and "no milk" (dark) chocolate. For the best experience, take it to go and eat it in St. Peter's Square. read more

Best place for gelato in Rome...and that's really saying something! Plus, it is located right next to the Vatican, so you are sure to be nearby atleast once. After trying several places, Old Bridge quickly became the favorite of our group, and we found ourselves constantly comparing gelato from other places to it, only to keep deciding that Old Bridge was superior. Not only is the gelato delicious, but it is also cheap and the portions are big. Not to mention, the guys working here are very friendly and handle the crowds very well. I was told about this shop by a local. Place had a great selection, reasonable prices and large scoops. It's an easy walk from St. Peter's Basilica. Since I went during the off-season, I didn't have to deal with any lines. That being said, I would use the time in line to figure out which of the many flavors to choose. There was a large selection and all the ones we sampled did not disappoint. read more

Oldbridge is just north of the Vatican and just a couple of minutes away from the Vatican Museums and Saint Peter's, so you should definitely stop by if you are already visiting the Vatican. Everytime I went, while visiting in October, the lines were pretty long, but they moved really quickly so I knew this place was going to be good. The gelato lived up to all of my expectations and was even better than I had hoped. It was perfectly creamy and sweet and flavorful I wish I could get some right now! Also the portion sizes were really generous for the price. I had gotten gelato near the Spanish Steps, that was more expensive, less than half the size, and not even close to being as delicious. Oldbridge is really exemplary and even more so when you consider how close it is to a major tourist site. Simply put, when you leave the Vatican, ignore all the other touristy places and go to Oldbridge. read more

I genuinely believe some places in the US (New York and San Francisco) have caught up to Italy when it comes to gelato. In fact, famous Italian gelato places like Grom have already migrated West. But Old Bridge is on another level altogether. Hands down, no comparison, best gelato place in Italy that we went to. Its worth it. read more

Much better than Giolitti in my books. Small, more modestly looking but don't get fooled by the looks. Best value for money. Perhaps it is because it is end of March/early April, but I did not face the queues other reviewers mentioned. 3 or 4 customers ahead of you (unlike the giolitti experience). Try the pistachio/ricotta, just try it and you'll understand! :-) read more

Went here after spending the day after the Vatican. It was awesome. Cheaper than most of the gelato shops we've been to in Rome and the serving sizes were more generous. I got a cup with three different flavors and my wife got a cone with three different flavors -- grand total was just 5 euro (a nice change of pace when the Vatican will practically charge you for fresh air). Service was friendly and helpful too. I got the Zuppa Inglese (some sort of lemony liqueur flavor that wife thought tasted like bubblegum), nutella, and dark cookie. Loved every last drip. They have lots of other flavor options though. Would love to go back and try the others! read more

I had dark chocolate n vanilla Gelato.Vanilla tasted much better than chocolate. Somehow I felt chocolate was too dense n dry. Maybe other flavors are better but highly recommend not to get dark chocolate. read more

It's even better than Giolotti which had a huge line in Rome Centre. A friend recommended Fior di Luna, and we're so happy we tried it!! There is a large banner up front saying Fior di Luna's chef is the world champion of gelato, and now I believe it. We got three flavors: mango, lemon basil, and chocolate chip. Just so good. The lemon basil is shocking like a cold pesto almost, the mango creamy but also tart, and the chocolate chip perfection. The choco chip actually was my favorite, so beautifully creamy without being too sweet. Will be making another trip back to the Trastevere district for this!!! The cannoli was 4/5, I personally wanted a more flavorful cream especially since it was suppose to be a pistachio forward cannoli.
