Gelato: Soooo good. Out of this world on flavor profile. We got: 1) Melon (Cantolupe) + Straciatella (vanilla with chocolate chips) 2) melon + strawberry = yummmy 3) Stratiacella + chocolate = amazinnnng Ended up buying 5 more after the first cup The melon was so cool and refreshing, tastes like a sweet ripe melon vs something with too much sugar and artificial flavors. The chocolate chips in the vanilla were so crunchy and chocolatey. Not sugary. We went here on the way to the Vatican! Everyone loved it! They don't display their gelatos in glass display with a rainbow of colors. Gelatos are in a metal cylindrical container with a lid. I've found any time I go to a place like this...the flavors and quality is superior. Service: patient, calming, and joyful. The prices are fair also. Which made coming back here easy. Maybe we'll run here before airport!

Some of my favorite gelato in Rome. It's close to the Vatican, so it's a great stop before or after going. The staff was nice.

In a city full of Gelato shops and dessert shops, it's hard to find a place that stands out. Well, this is one. The gelato is covered, so that's already a sign that they have a respect for their food quality. I had a cannoli and they make it fresh right as you order it. This can be time consuming, but you're getting a better product at the end of the day, and that's what you want. I mean, how often will you be in Rome? If you want quality gelato and great desserts, then check this place out. One of the best and the owner is a pretty nice dude.

This place by far had the friendliest people working there... The owner was super nice as well...I mean in the past 4 days, we have seen some very rude people...one of them who refused to let us dine only because we were speaking English... Going back to the gelato. Oh yes, it was one of the bests I have ever tried... I got the small size blood orange and hazelnut flavor and the flavor was just divine... Price wise, it was cheaper than other places I have passed by... Let me make this clear, I am not a stingy person but I don't have a gold mine either so having said that I try to go to places that serve good quality food for cheaper... Makes sense? Location wise, they are very close to the Vatican museum. So if you have got the map, you can easily get to this place... Staff wise, as I mentioned earlier, they were very friendly... I have to thank my fellow Yelp friend Paola P. who suggested this place.... Thank you somuch Paola!

Awesome ice cream parlour in Rome. I know there are so many. You almost can't go wrong. But this was the one we chose to have our mandatory gelato and it was really, really good.

The definition of heavenly gelato. This place is a must try to try gelato. My recommendation: get gelato at a few places and then come here. That way you'll be able to appreciate how this place stacks up. Try the Hedera flavor. Made with something like 11 secret ingredients, it's very special. The lemon cream. The strawberry. The... it's all good! Also the coffee granita with cream (which you really should mix in well) disappeared more quickly than I'd like to admit. If you're visiting the Vatican, make sure you stop by this stop a few blocks away. Interesting note: the door to the kitchen is a self-proclaimed laboratory

Perfect for an afternoon espresso and genet to after fighting Vatican crowds. Small shady seating area to the side near the fountain - water is drinkable. Small gelato selection and none of the crazy favors. Just simple delicious old school goodness. Staff friendly and they all speak English. Best espresso in the neighborhood. We will take a side trip to visit if anywhere near the area.

This is one of my favorite gelaterias in Rome, and I wish I had found it sooner! This place is close to the Vatican, so make sure you stop by for some creamy gelato, ice cream sandwich, tiramisu, or other goodies they have. The decor here is absolutely chic and oh-so-cute! I thought I was in Paris. Their gelato is also made with quality ingredients, which you can tell by how good the gelato tastes! I got the hedera flavor, which is their signature flavor but what's in it is a secret that they won't reveal. You should definitely try this flavor! It tastes like pistachio with some other flavors that I can't quite pinpoint. The mascarpone ice cream sandwich is also very good, and their tiramisu is pretty solid too. I love that they offer other things besides gelato such as ice cream sandwiches, tiramisu, cookies, espresso, etc. Prices are also very reasonable and on par with other gelaterias, but the quality is definitely artisanal.

Located near St. Peter's Square, this ice cream shop is very cute in the side alleys off the main street. The gelato was very creamy, heavy and perfect! I got a small cone of pistachio gelato and got two big scoops of gelato, one big and one small sugar cone. Ahh, I wish I could go back to Rome and order this again. It's so delicious and creamy...I would highly recommend coming here!

One of the best Gelato experiences I have had. The cafe is located in the heart of the Vatican and the interior is extremely cute and comforting with a little window seat and several little tables. The Gelato was incredibly delicious and you could even watch some of their sweets being prepared in the back through a window so it was obviously all authentic and homemade. Highly recommend!

Tiny, a rip off for €3.5. The fig was marginal

Expecting it to be there one year, I walked over to Piazza Navona and Gelateria Navona had evidently closed. I would then get gelato here and there. I then learned that Giolitti is a long standing gelateria and it's also in the historic center. I filed the name away in my head. Then, one day, I happened to walk right in front of it without even looking for it, so I went in. Giolitti is popular and it can be crowded. I'm going to say that I waited about 10 to 15 minutes. You pay at a counter first, deciding on what you want and how much of it, such as scoops and whether it will be in a cup or a cone. Once up at the counter, they don't rush you, which surprised me. I don't take that much time since I don't experiment much, but I still appreciate the courtesy. The price is roughly what everyone else in the historic center is charging. I always opt for the gelato it in a cup so you can "control" the dripping. The gelato - a mix of dark chocolate and two citrus flavors - was "molto buono." That said, just because it's so popular, I'm not going to downgrade Giolitti for it and complain about the crowds. You downgrade gourmet donut places in the U.S. where their fame has gone to their heads. There is also a spacious salon with nicer decor in which you can eat inside. At this point, Giolitti is really the only gelateria in Rome whose name I remember. I would gladly go back and I recommend it.

They were busy both times, with a line out the door, but the people working were friendly and patient (which was especially noticeable on our first visit, when a group of 10 tourists wandered in after a few hours drinking, eating and drinking our way through the town.) The did have some interesting flavor combos lined up for us to try, but I went with the flavors I craved. Everything was tasty and creamy, and the serving sizes were generous. They offered whipped cream on top of each portion as well, which we passed on, the gelato was yummy and creamy enough without the added cream. The shop is tiny (explains the line) but clean, and they do a good job of labeling each of the vats of gelato they have on display. Definitely a winner, and seemed to be quite popular with locals.
