Lovely spot on the river with a great ambience. The menu is limited. My husband raves about the pearly salad with cucumber, feta, calamari olives and some kind of barley. Plus, the grilled cheese sandwich had spinach and was exceptionally good. My meal of roasted chicken was slow cooked and smoked, but dry. The roasted potatoes on a special sauce were tasteless. And the homemade berry lime soda tasted primarily of seltzer water. Service was attentive. Great for setting and service, but not my choice for food. read more

Had a DELICIOUS brunch with my wife and I here on the morning of our journey back home from Three Rivers. I had some delicious chilaquiles and country fried potatoes. My wife had some fluffy delicious pancakes and yogurt/granola. I enjoyed a delicious local IPA, while my wife had some Pinot. It was absolutely delicious and the view of the river right next to us was also perfect ambiance. My only regret is that I unfortunately paid and forgot to leave a tip. Did not really love or hate our experience at Ol Buckaroo. There was the really good and really bad. The really good: The location and outside seating is really nice. Overlooks the river bed behind the restaurant. I also have to compliment them on their wings which were really great. We also had the cheeseburger which was pretty good and has a spicy sauce on it which gives it a good kick. The bad: The chicken sandwich was not enjoyable at all. It was overly fried like it was burned and had no flavor at all as far as sauce or anything else inside. It just tasted like bread and burned batter. The service was also pretty slow and kind of rude to be quite honest. The young man that works there is amazing (this past Saturday night). Otherwise, food came out really slowly and our waitress seemed annoyed by anything we would ask. For example I asked if the kitchen could just cut out sandwiches as we were going to share. A Simple perfectly cooked patty with straight from the farm local produce on a brioche bun. We also had the pork belly appetizer with grits and castelvetrano olives sprinkled with local bee pollen. Very cute atmosphere and there's an attempt being made here to offer something other than bad Sysco wishwash pub food. That said the execution and presentation is just north of "ok for a diner." Unfortunately the pricing is fine dining ($26 steak) for what would be a solid meal at 30-40% less. Now this might just be the surcharge for being up the hill, but nonetheless with just a bit more attention to detail they'd be earning the cost of admission. We had 4 mains and some misc. Thank goodness for Buckaroo Diner! During the winter months, there's not much open in Sequoia National Park. We drove out to the diner and it was the best meal we had during our quick weekend trip, and we were met with super friendly staff. It was the perfect setting for brunch. We sat outdoors with our pup, overlooking Three Rivers. I think Buckaroo had the most unique chilaquile entree. The dish was the special of the day, and had generous amounts of tenderly braised and cumin-spiced pork, refried beans, freshly fried tortilla chips, guacamole, and fried eggs for $15. The brown butter waffle was soft yet crispy and the fried chicken was tender on the inside. Even the drip coffee tasted better than regular diner coffee, not burnt tasting and no sugar or creamer was necessary. Usually, I don't expect to eat good food when I'm in towns next to National Parks. I was so pleasantly surprised by the quality of food and service that Buckaroo had to offer. I was bummed out that they open at 10am and not earlier because I would have returned the next morning before leaving the park! read more

Our family has dined here 4 times, but the last visit on 02/29/20 sealed the deal for us. After hiking nearby, we decided to stop here for lunch since the sub shop next door was closed. Our party of 8 was seated outside fairly quick. The weather/views were the only pleasant thing about our experience. #1 Our waitress (the Owner? she has served us at each of our visits) acts like she is inconvenienced by your presence. She is not friendly. At all. We waited about 20 minutes for her to come take our order. She never even asked what we wanted for drinks. #2 My brother in law ordered coffee when we got the attention of one of the other servers. It was brought out to him with fresh red lipstick around the rim (inside and outside of the cup). It wiped right off, so you could tell the cup HAD NOT been washed. Disgusting! He wasn't about to say anything out of fear of retaliation since our food hadn't come out yet. #3 Everyone's food was...meh. My chilaquiles were terrible. The braised pork was so dried out and stringy that it was inedible. The temp of my food when it was brought out was off. It wasn't even warm. It had been sitting for a while. The burgers were supposed to be medium and the 3 at our table were definitely medium-rare. The pickle on one of the burger dishes looked as if it had been recycled from someone else's platter earlier in the day. #4 Took forever to get our check. 18% gratuity is automatically added. I love giving a good tip, by the way. But lackluster (downright rude) service should not automatically get an 18% tip in my book. We won't be here again. read more

The worst place ever. Like other reviewers stated we also experienced extremely rude service from the waitress with the long blonde hair and that attitude is completely endorsed by an equally terrible business owner who was completely unapologetic or appalled at the fact that my 9 year old was served a RAW uncooked burger. My poor 9 year old was sick for two days after eating here. And this is a burger we waited an hour to get at a cost of $10, $15-$18 for an adult burger. If you are going to charge a fortune at least have warm friendly service to back that up. I can only highly recommend this place to the Health Department. Maybe you can stop others from being expose to food poisoning. What a neat spot! It's like having a bbq and movie night in your backyard without having to do the work. I got a grilled cheese. Cheese was sooo good. Fennel was great. The food took forty five minutes to get to the table and when it did, the hamburger was good, but the chicken sandwiches were flavorless and really disappointing. I actually put ketchup on my fried chicken sandwich bc that improved it. I don't even think it was salted. The fries were good. So there's that. The menu was very limited, with the only entree options being the grilled cheese, cheeseburger, fried chicken sandwich, and veggie burger. The grilled cheese was oddly garlicky. EVERYONE AROUND US WAS BEING SERVED BREAD, FREE SALAD AND GOT THEIR MEAL COMPED AND EVEN THEN THEY STILL DIDN'T EVEN ACKNOWLEDGE THE FACT THAT WE HAVE BEEN HERE FOR OVER AN HOUR AND A HALF. -We had to ask for refills on our water -We were ignored the entire time we were there -They didn't even realize that we've been sitting there for over an hour and a half -Arrived to the restaurant at 8:10 and didn't get served until 9:30. By this time we had decided to get our food boxed up and the lady couldn't even remember what table we were sitting at!!!!! We knew that they were busy but then we finally decided to say something because it wasn't fair that's everyone else was treated with great customer service and we were ignored. By the time we told them how long we have been waiting they still had the audacity to charge us for our meal. This place had great atmosphere but poor food, and so-so service. We went there on Saturday, Oct 8th, and it was busy. Bad Food: My burger was worse than Jack in the Box. The bun was burnt, my supposedly medium rare burger was very well done, and it wouldn't say it was crushed, but close to it. If I want to get a Jack in the Box burger, I don't want to pay $19 bucks for it and wait a long time. Poor Service: Having to wait when it is busy is expected, but. after we ordered, I didn't receive my beer until after our food came and I had to ask for it 3 times from different people waiting over 5 minutes after food arrived. I'm not sure who to blame for my burger, the cook or the waitress if she got my order wrong. On the positive side, the atmosphere in the outdoor seating was nice. The outside seating is absolutely beautiful overlooking the river. The food however, was so terrible. I had a burger and my boyfriend had a chickpea fritter or whatever and they were both awful. Burger - just your regular ole burger - so greasy that it kind of made me sick after eating it. I asked for medium well but the buns were soaked au jus. Drenched in pink and looked disgusting. The fries were just like the ones from Mickey Ds except I had to pay 14 dollars for this lame burger and fries. Chickpea fritter sandwich or whatever with fries - HORRENDOUS. Just bland mashed up chickpeas fried in batter. To make things worse - there was no vegetable to be found in this greasy sandwich. Everything on the plate was gross shade of yellows. Served with the same McD fries. Again 14 bucks for this crap. This wannabe hipster joint is a miss. They get a 10 on the décor and for having Mrs. Meyers hand soap. read more

SUPER TOURIST UNFRIENDLY !! I am assuming these folks don't care about reputation since they are in a touristic spot and don't care for repeat customers . I had a group of friends from France and we had a terrible experience . As far as the food , think of it as airport food , mediocre at best . The waitress was super rude and impatient taking the order . I am not sure how to put in any other way , but she was bothered that these guys didn't speak perfect English ! We didn't even dare to ask for more water she was so hostile ! When the check came , they have added an extra item we haven't ordered and they also added a %18 MANDATORY gratuity . Stopped in last night for my wife's birthday. We split the skirt steak, wintery kale salad, and Korean wings. Everything we ate was thoughtfully prepared, beautifully presented, and incredibly delicious. The prices were very reasonable, especially considering the portions were extremely generous. The chocolate pot de crème was a perfect end to an exquisite meal. The service was top notch - attentive and friendly, but not overbearing in the slightest. It felt like hanging out with good friends. The music selection was excellent. The design was cool and clever, but also warm and welcoming. I was so excited to try out this farm to table, family-feel restaurant on my trip to the Sequoia's! Ambience: 4/5 stars - Casual with string lights, definitely request a table outside - next to the water is worth the wait! Service: 2/5 stars - unfortunately this ruined my experience here. The wait for the table wasn't bad. The busboy Nate was prompt with water, however we waited another 25 minutes for a server to greet us. We asked twice for someone to find our server. Sarah came without an apology, just the excuse that it was a busy night. I had to verbally request the specials which i had attempted to eavesdrop on when she greeted other tables prior to ours. Only to have her tell me my food would take another 35 minutes. She avoided eye contact the entire meal and touched other tables 2x as often as ours. Yet, when it came for the bill - she picked that up real quick. Funny how that works. Food: 4/5 stars. We got the skirt steak medium rare which was cooked perfectly with a fresh chimichurri sauce, I wish there was more! The potatoes were yummy but not so much smashed as they were fingerling - it could've used more rosemary and the aioli was necessary. Greens were tasty though, so was the cauliflower! I also got the sweet tea chicken - which was worth the wait. Also a huge portion (like half a chicken) so buy to share.
