For our main entrees, I ordered the Miso Black Cod, and my husband had the Kyoto Paitan Ramen. The Ramen was well-seasoned, and the Cod was delicately plated, with crisp capers that added a layer of flavor. The House Strawberry Lemonade was refreshing, and the Okinawa Breeze was lightly sweet and colorful. It will be one of the most memorable cocktails I've had because of its presentation and taste. We ended the night with the Woo Baby (Ube Cheesecake) and the Yuzu Delight (Yuzu Cheesecake). The yuzu was tart and the ube was light and creamy. Both are outstanding dessert options. I would absolutely order this again! Their drinks and cocktail menu is very extensive and I chose the Ultraman drink, which was great. It's made with Haku vodka, lime juice, cinnamon chai syrup, grenadine, cran-apple, and ginger beer, topped with a dehydrated apple and normally a limited mini Ultraman toy. They were out of the toy when I went, so they offered a $2 discount, which I didn't mind at all. For yakitori, I tried the Hiza Nankotsu (knee cartilage). Their skewers are prepared in-house and grilled over Japanese binchōtan charcoal, then finished with aged tare and served with Susuru citrus salt. The knee cartilage was good and had a nice crunchy texture. I also tried the Mi-So-Hot ramen which comes with pork chashu, a shoyu soft-boiled egg, corn, scallions, chili hair, and spicy miso broth. I ordered the crab and corn croquetas ($9.5), crab rice ($11), mushrooms in soy sauce ($7), beef with chimichurri ($7.5) and a soda ($3.5). The crab and corn croquetas are a good sized portion, coming in three balls with a tender inside full of tasty corn pieces and crab. The sauce they come with also delivers on making them stand out. The crab rice was a good sized scoop and you could taste the freshness of it all, use the small slice of lemon to give it a tiny extra kick. The mushrooms in soy sauce were absolutely rocking on the taste buds with the umami really strong but so tasty. I ate half of the plate and brought the rest for snacking on tomorrow. Yay The beef with chimichurri was about 3 ounces worth of beef and sliced into four really small bites. A bit pricey for what you're given. My friend ordered the pork belly which was the same size and had a lovely taste to it. She also ordered the gyoza which came with five small pieces and those were tasty. The servers were super quick in bringing out the plates and due to the smallish sized table, it got overwhelming a bit quickly and we had to shuffle stuff around but since the meals are smallish, you do eat pretty quickly too. You have to be there early or else the seating is a roll of the dice, as soon as we began to leave, someone scooped in to grab the table. One poor guy was with his lady at the bar, she was seated but he didn't have one for him so he was standing beside her. My favorite savory item here believe it or not is the oyster mushroom skewer. It tastes sooo good! You can tell that its been marinated for a long time and its got that smoky, charcoal flavor that is irresistible. Their chicken karage is also incredible. It's super crispy and flavorful with that lemon sauce. Don't forget about the okonomiyaki. It is a savory panake that's cabbage based. You have to wait a while for them to prepare it, but its totally worth it. I'm mad myself for having waited so long to come back, and all things considered, it was not expensive when compared to other places in the area. The magical dining came with four courses. I wanted to try the seaweed salad for my first course, which was marinated nicely in soy sauce. It looked like noodles, but had a nice small crunch after every bite. My second course was nigiri sushi, which included salmon, tuna, and yellowtail. All of them were nice and fresh, and most of them melted in my mouth as well. Adding the house made soy sauce added the umami needed. The third course was the volcano roll, which was hemachi, bacon, jalapeno, and avocado in the bottom, with scallops and imitation crab on top. It was very enjoyable, especially the scallops and fish. The food was quite filling as well. Thankfully I still had room for dessert, and the ube flan was sinfully good. It tasted like an authentic flan with the ube fusion.
